2.5 stars only because their dirty martinis were really good. The bartender that first helped out our group of girls was on the rude side. At a bar the servers deal with separate checks all day, every day, but yet he felt that he should give attitude when 5 girls ask for separate checks, and we are celebrating a birthday? Oh-kay. After we were seated, our server also gave lip when we asked for separate checks if it would not be too much trouble. He basically said these exact words«I don’t want to come back ten times». Yikes. The place was NOT super busy, in fact, about an hour or hour and a half into our evening, the place was probably not even half full. Yet, it took almost 10 minutes each time we ordered a cocktail. After my second one I just started ordering them when my current drink was halfway done so that I could get served efficiently. The restaurant is a steakhouse, so I was expecting a pretty good cut of beef. My friend ordered the exact same thing as me, yet when they brought our plates out there was a very noticeable difference. My cut looked almost like a grey putty color and it was way too overcooked. I had actually asked our server for medium rare(this is for the Joe’s steak) but he said it basically came in a medium. I said whatever is best. But my friend’s steak was definitely a medium rare, very pink, nice grill marks on the outside and it tasted great. Mine was not so much. Fries were OK, I got lots of ends and pieces. Cheesecake was trying too hard to be like The Cheesecake Factory, so it was underwhelming, but OK on the taste and texture(Also, I ordered 2 slices of cheesecake to go, I was charged for them, but the waiter forgot to bring them out and I waited and waited, and at the end I had go into the restaurant myself to ask for them. They were sitting on the kitchen ledge and the bartender had to get them for me). Also location wise, it is just OK too. It is located in a big shopping center or basically a glorified strip mall, so even though we were seated outside in very nice balmy weather, the view is pretty bad. Overall I don’t know if I would return, maybe for happy hour because they have a great happy hour schedule and lots of drinks to choose from. For me I really enjoyed the dirty martinis, which was my saving grace other than the great company I enjoyed during our evening. But, where were my blue cheese stuffed olives that are listed on the menu? Nowhere to be found. And I also heard that their signature Moscow mule was just meh.

Food was great. Went for Father’s Day. Didn’t wait much to be seated. Wasn’t too busy so felt like the service was a bit slow. It took awhile to get our food and drinks. For the quality and taste I’m giving it 4 stars.

This place is awesome. The quality of food was great. Service was good. I had a rib eye and it was a great steak. Jack pot nachos for the Appetizers, salad was great, all good. First time there and look forward to going back. The prices were decent and not to high

Came here to celebrate Father’s Day since Lucile’s had a long line. Big mistake. One star because they comped my meal. But considering there was a spray bottle cap in my tap water, it was the right thing to do! Disgusting! Never coming back. If they can’t explain how a water cap fell into their water dispenser(the same water being served to all other patrons), who knows what else goes on in the kitchen. I hope I don’t feel sick later today.

Exceeded my expectations for sure! Food: «Pricey” — you get great portions and great flavor, plus complimentary bread rolls We ended up getting the two-for meal deal(i’m not sure what it’s called). Soooo much fooooood and it was all pretty good. Steaks were great, potatoes were awesome; there was so much food on the plate and it was all filling that we took it home and had it for another meal(yay!) still good the next day, too. It came with an appetizer, too– we got the nachos which were decent and filling. THATCAKETHOUGH: got the 6-layer chocolate cake, but didn’t get to eat it at the restaurant since we were so full. When we opened it the next day… oh my goodness. So rich, creamy, sweet, and BIG– it lasted us a few blissful days. Drinks: The lemonade came in a huge mason jar and was pretty sweet — I usually feel this way about any restaurant lemonade, so i’d ask for maybe half water or an extra cup of water We’ve since gone back and hung out at the bar for dessert(that cake again) — I preferred the cake after it was refrigerated, but still good! Bar: not necessarily packed, but the bartenders are very busy serving the bar and the whole restaurant’s drink orders. The happy hour looks so good, great prices and we saw some of the portions– still big/decent! Service: our first night we had Brittany/Britney; she was nice, the place wasn’t packed but I think the food is a little slow, which is to be expected(not a negative thing). She was great, very helpful when we had questions. Bartender the second time around, again like I said, was busy, but he was mindful enough of us. Great atmosphere, super excited to come back

First time review: The restaurant is quite spacious and beautiful. Plenty of room for meeting some friends for drinks and for relatives & friends for a special occasion. Beautiful interior design and very roomy. The tables are not spaced one on top of the other. They have a fireplace surrounded by leather chairs in the foyer that looks inviting and a very large outdoor patio that has enough space to seat at least 30+ people. This place gives me the feel of a place to celebrate a special occasion. Definitely love the layout and décor. OK done loving on on the schematics… On to the food!!! I ordered one of the specials, The Rubicon Ribeye, 20oz Bone in cut aged for 28 days medium rare, served with their Blue Lake Green Beans & choice of starter and one side. I chose the Mountain Mashers mashed potatoes and gravy and the Baby Greens salad, mixed baby greens with crumbled gorgonzola cheese, some dried fruit(raisins?) tossed in a vinaigrette… one of my fave salad combos. My friends ordered the Big Baked Potato, that they dress tableside with your choice of butter, sour cream, green onions and/or bacon and soup for a starter, the Chicken Pot Pie. Both really look good, but I was truly happy with my choices. The steak was tender, juicy and HUGE!!! I could only finish about 2 finger widths full and then I was stuffed!!! Taking home the rest of the steak for tomorrow’s breakfest, and possibly tomorrow’s lunch… Ian was our waiter for the evening & did a fantastic job. The best compliment I could give this place for the service atmosphere, service and for their food… I can’t wait to come back again!!!(Hit me up if any of y’all are going here!!! Seriously… I’d go back!!!)

Went there to celebrate my mom’s birthday… We get there around 6:50PM on a Thursday night. Not very busy when we get there. Some guy in suspenders(without a smile on his face or a nice greeting at all) asked me how many on my party… a total of 5(4 adults and 1 child). Calls the hostess, again no smile or hi, tells us to follow her… we get sitted in the bar area. We are sitting there while other«servers or bus boy»(I could not tell) completely ignore us for about 10 minutes. Finally a very nice guy by the name of Ian comes to our table. He explains the menu and takes our drink order(I ordered a Lava Flow for my mom $ 9.00 drink). Our lovely server does not return for another 10 minutes with only water and 1 soda($ 3.00). takes another 5 minutes to come back with my mom’s drink…15 minutes waiting there, mind you we are sitted ATTHEBAR! I’m already getting anxious at this point… our server doesn’t return for another 10 minutes to take our order. Offers some complimentary rolls… doesn’t come back with the rolls for another long time. Finally the food gets there… my mom’s rib eye steak is dry and meh in flavor… the side dishes are cold(rice and green beans). Me and my dad ordered their steak sandwich($ 17.00 each)…again nothing to compliment. My hubby ordered a burger($ 15.00), nothing special… and kids meal with cheeseburger(dry) which by the way a kid’s meal = $ 7.00. Kid’s meal comes with a drink… server forgot about it, I request it and he forgets about it again… we got his drink almost as we were leaving the place. Ian was nice enough to bring my mom a slice of cheesecake at the end of the night(after I had asked for our check)…with a mountain of whip cream at the top, the presentation sucked. Cheesecake flavor was ok. Long story short, we ordered one steak dinner, one soda, one alcoholic beverage(which tasted virgin) two sandwiches and two burgers for a bill totalling $ 102.00…NEVERAGAIN! This place charges premium prices for food that you can get at Applebee’s. Ian is a nice guy, but the service we received was very delayed and we felt ignored most of the time. Needless to say, we learned our lesson, Tahoe Joe’s is just another chain of crappy food at premium prices. Nope.

Tahoe Joe’s is one of our great equalizers for a standard meal for someones birthday(in our family) and don’t know where else to go. The food is good enough, nothing spectacular. They always seem to have trouble creating enough heat outside in the cooler months and sitting just inside the door of the patio results in being blasted with cold air repeatedly. Service is good enough though.

Came here on a Monday night, it was like a ghost town. We had a great server named Hallie. She was the really friendly blonde girl from Missouri. She was so patience with us and gave great recommendations. The kitchen messed up our orders quite a bit. Things were missing. Steaks were over and under cooked. The salmon was god awful, it was cooked thoroughly and it seemed spoiled. Hallie and manager handled the mishaps well. They promptly fixed our order and even offered us a free dessert for our inconvenience. The cheesecake and apple pie are pretty amazing. Due to their great service, I’m willing to try this place again. I hear they are known for their happy hour.

Okay so I was even further impressed yesterday. I come to this restaurant primarily for business lunches, but yesterday I was craving their steak sandwich as I was walking by. By the way if you haven’t tried their Tahoe Joe Steak Sandwich, you are not doing yourself a favor. I ordered the sandwich from the«waiter», who is actually the manager of this establishment. When he ran my card it showed $ 11.99 and I wasn’t happy, because I saw $ 8.99 outside next to picture of the steak sandwich. Manager kindly, very kindly, explained to me that it’s «starting at $ 8.99». I was so hungry and mentally fatigued from work that I made no sense at all and insisted that it’s $ 8.99. For the record I would NEVER do this intentionally. Anyway, the manager again kindly said, «tell you what» and changed the price to $ 8.99AND offered me a card redeemable for cheesecake dessert the next time I visit. Their cheesecake is better than cheesecake factory’s by the way. I only realized what I had done to this poor guy as I was walking out and looked at the advertisement again. Well, tell you what Mr. Manager(Lanier? Was an African American older gentleman), I’ll have more business lunches at your restaurant. Also, I want you to know that I have shared half of my sandwich with a colleague and he loved it. I gave him the dessert card as well so that he will have an opportunity to visit himself. Ciao!

I figured out why there are so few pictures of Tahoe Joe’s steaks on Unilocal: they suck. I came here to celebrate my birthday thinking this was a regular olé chain steakhouse like Wood Rancho, but alas, I was sorely disappointed. My family and I started off with their signature Railroad Camp Shrimp($ 10.95), which is a handful of hand battered, tempura style shrimp tossed with wontons and peanuts on a bed of questionably chopped up lettuce served with sweet and spicy soy sauce. My parents are older, have rickety teeth were like, «No thanks,» because the batter hardened. I have nice and healthy teeth and the battered was so thick and hard that I too was also like, «No thanks.» Pass. And their world famous chicken pot pie soup? Lukewarm. Being that it was my birthday, I gluttonously ordered the Joe’s ribeye Nebraska($ 32.99) which came with two sides. It was so, so bland. So incredibly bland. I doused each bite into a pool of a-1 sauce. Everyone’s dish came out alright, except for my sister’s. She ordered the Joe’s steak($ 22.99), which they claim to slow roast for 19 hours then rolled in black pepper and wood grilled. Cut of meat was a mystery… and chewy. And smelly. And gross. She took a couple of bites, called it a day, and packed it home. My dad unknowingly ate it the next day and mentioned that the meat had a distinct odorous smell with each bite. Gross. Needless to say, the food here is meh. Mosey on down the street to Wood Ranch because at least there, it’s well worth your money.

Great happy hour food at killer prices. We always come on Sunday-ALL day happy hour! I highly suggest doing that or nightly happy hour. Make a meal out of a variety of appetizers & small meals on the happy hour menu. Get to try a lot of different items & much great variety. *The railroad camp shrimp is our favorite, along with the Steak slider sandwiches with Àju. Also the fish tacos, onion strings, nachos, buffalo wings, etc. *The happy hour burger however is *NOT good. as many other reviewers have noted. I Have had other tasty regular menu items including the combo chicken & steak. Chicken was moist & not dry & steak well cooked not over seasoned.

I’ve been to this location twice and I find the food, the ambiance and the service to be really nice. The prices are average for a steakhouse, not cheap, but they give you large portions and the food is quite good. My most recent visit I had ribs and shrimp and it was good. I didn’t care for the sauce that came with the shrimp for dipping so they made me a bowl of cocktail sauce, so that was awesome. Really like the sourdough rolls that come with the meal. They have kind of a cool outdoor are for seating and while it is heated, it was a little too cold for our last visit, but i bet in the early summer and fall, it’s probably an awesome place to sit. Overall, I recommend Tahoe Joe’s if you’re looking for a steak in the Chino Hills area. That’s what they do here and it’s done well.

eh, the food here is very greasy and quality isn’t good. Their happy hour is filled with non appetizing filler foods. Their grilled chicken bay sandwich isn’t that great here. The food here is just overly friend, oily and salty. The décor here is very nice! loved the decorations.

I’ve had the pleasure of trying Tahoe Joe’s twice. The first experience we had a party of four and dined in the dining area. The waitress was very nice and gave us suggestions on what to order and what her favorites were. Everyone’s order arrived promptly. I had the roasted chicken. It was good. It had a Cajun seasoning to it which I enjoyed. The pork chops looked okay, didn’t really look to appetizing. The steak was… ummm dry, bland, over-cooked and boring. It definitely need some kind of sauce to make it tolerable to eat in my opinion. The second experience was the complete opposite of my first experience. It was just me and another person, so we decided to sit at the bar. Given that it was a Sunday at noon, the restaurant and bar was relatively empty. Our waiter was the worst. He was arrogant, cocky and not attentive at all. I asked for rolls to go with you meal. He said he would get it and never came back. Then I asked another bartender, he said he would go get me some but never left to bar to get the rolls. And the food… was terrible. Everything we ordered was bland and dry. The only thing good at Tahoe Joe’s is the cheesecake. Go somewhere else if you want juicy steaks because you won’t find it here.

I tried to give this place a second chance. The first time I went here, I just remember having a really bad experience because our server rarely checked up on us and we constantly had to ask other servers to help us out. This time our server once again wasn’t very attentive. And he also brought out my soup the same time the entrees were served so I ended up just taking it to go because I didn’t want my main course to get cold. We also had to remind him about our crab cake appetizers which he then brought out after our entrees arrived as well. Thankfully he comped us for the crab cakes though so I’m giving an extra star for that. I also overheard another server telling his table the restaurant’s specials and giving recommendations on what to order. My server never told us about any of their special items on the menu and he also gave us the bill while we were still eating without bothering to ask if we wanted dessert. Anyways, for the actual food… I ordered the rib eye steak MEDIUMWELL since my server described the medium as being bright red and the medium well as being bright pink. Totally should have just stuck to my gut instinct and got medium like I normally do because the medium well ended up being too dry for my taste and with barely any pink in it. It wasn’t too bad, I’d rate it a 3 out of five, pretty average. They don’t have many side options. The crab cakes were okay, kind of small for the price they charge. Nachos were the best thing I tried there, except the salsa was very bland. Seared ahi tuna was good but super small and not worth it. Overall, I feel like this place needs to start training ALL of their servers to be more friendly and efficient. But I won’t be coming back here to see if they do since their food really isn’t worth the hassle.
