Here are my criteria for how I rate a dirt rack track: How is the seating/bleachers? Metal bleachers with back support. Somewhat comfortable; however, Merced Speedway has same back support, but more leg room. How is the food? Snack bar is the typical junk food. Once upon a time, they sold tacos here and that was a hit. Now that this track is under the«Ocean Speedway» management I would have hoped they’d bring in something similar to Watsonville’s BBQ. Since that is not the case, I don’t recommend eating here. Eat in advance, or in our case, my daughter was sleeping so I had to sneak her food in on our last visit so she could eat when she woke up. Is outside food/beverage alllowed? NO and the sign clearly says so. How are the ticket prices? Fair. What is the pit access like after the races? Drive your vehicle to the main pit entrance after the races and drive over to your favorite driver. I like this arrangement as there is no walking across muddy tracks/areas. How is the weather? Warm in the summer. Blankets only needed if you plan to use them as cushion for your tush. How are the announcers? They seem to be the same as Watsonville now which isn’t bad. How is the flow of racing? Slow pace here on the last night we were there. This of course can vary greatly from week to week but I get the impression this track is not that popular at the moment. There was a lof of dead time between races. How is the parking lot? Lots of parking that is a close walk. I do like the parking arrangement and also I appreciate that they have clearly marked handicapped parking for those who need it(unlike Watsonville.) How are the bathrooms? Fair. Not a far walk from the stands either which is nice. However, there are not a lot of stalls. Bottom Line: I take a star off mainly for the icky snack bar with a missed opportunity for something creative or different. My purpose for writing dirt track reviews is to offer info for drivers/families who may not have visited the track before and have no idea what to expect!
