Better to eat breakfast here in my opinion… Had dinner here a few days ago… My son ordered a French dip and the meat was tough and hard to chew… I ordered a rib eye and it super thin and full of fat… We will stick with breakfast only here… I gave it 2 stars because our server was great!:)

I really love this place. It is a Perkos with a touch of South western food. The owners have always been real friendly and courteous. We try to eat here once a week and have never been disappointed(after the new owners took over a couple years ago). Don’t be afraid to order off of the specials menu on the chalkboard at the entrance… there jas been several entrees that were tasty.

We were passing through town. The food was good but don’t expect to get what you order. I order a Portuguese skillet. It was really good despite the eggs. There were 3 eggs, I wanted over easy. 1 was over easy, 1 was over medium, and 1 was way over cooked(not sure how that was managed since they came in one big group). My roommate ordered the farmers skillet eggs over medium but her came over easy. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the service. They came around 1 time for coffee but I only had water amd my roommate had ice tea they never asked if we wanted a refill and after sitting and waiting almost 10 min after we finished eating, someone finally came over and asked if we needed anything. So we just asked for the check. They weren’t busy, I would have understood if they were. But I do have to say the food was great even though it was wrong.

Perko’s is a really cute, quaint diner hidden away in Chowchilla. I wish this place was located in my town. I would love to come here more often. My parents and I just stopped here on a road trip back to Sacramento from Southern California. Really glad we did. :) First off, our superwoman waitress, Christina, did almost everything, just shy of cooking the food herself. She waited on 8 tables, including our own. She was hostess, waitress, busgirl, and cashier. And did it all excellently! She was really sweet and friendly and clearly a hard-worker. Kudos to Christina! The food is reasonably priced, about $ 10 – 12 a plate, and the wait time for our food was acceptable, maybe 20 minutes or so. You could tell the food was made authentic and fresh. We ordered the fish & chips, the Perko club, and the patty melt, all of which was very delicious and filling. We took home leftovers. The overall restaurant is clean, organized, and welcoming. There are tv’s throughout the diner where you can watch the sports games. And the place is well-decorated and well-maintained, very home-like and casual. The only thing I would change would be the number of staff. There was Christina, of course, and another woman(who appeared to be the manager, maybe; she just kept walking around & checking on everything) and two guys in the kitchen. Additional staff would help make everything run a little quicker and not place so much responsibility on one worker. Overall, I really liked it and will consider stopping here anytime we’re driving in the area. :)

Horrible, horrible, horrible service. The three employees sat at the bar and had very loud, very eruptive conversations in Spanish and paid very little attention to the two tables in the dining room. The only time the server came to my table was to take my order, deliver my(cold) order, and bring the bill.

Okay, so understand that this place is a café and not a two Michelin star Restuarant. So don’t let the other reviews stop you from coming in. The food is pretty good, much better than IHOP or Denny’s. The food was typical café food, but still pretty good. There servers a nice and I like how the chef made the pancakes in the shape of «Mickey Mouse» for my daughter. The place is pretty clean and didn’t seem gross like some other cafes I have been too. The coffee was nice & strong and hit the spot. I also had some biscuits and gravy that came with my meal. The biscuits had a sweetness to it that complimented the the savory gravy that covered the biscuits… very nice. If I ever pass through Chowchilla again I would definitely stop by, the food is great and the environment is clean and friendly. Make sure to stop by and get some cooking that hits the spot. Oh, and here’s another plus… the bathrooms are VERY clean.

This was a good place to stop for quick lunch but the bathroom spectic system doesn’t smell very good. Service was quick and the food was good. The rest of the restaurant was clean.

We stopped at this restaurant on our way from grass valley to orange county. There were 9 of us traveling together so I had the opportunity to sample several different menu items including chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, chicken strips, pizza sticks, onion rings, French fries, salad, party melt, and splatter crepes — to name a few. None of the food was very impressive and the service was not that great either. The server was unable or unwilling to recommend any good dishes when asked for advice, he responded he doesn’t have any favorites and didn’t offer any suggestions. My salad came about 2 minutes before the rest of the meal which gave me no time to eat it before the entrees arrived. The pizza sticks were a processed unappetizing mess and the rest of the food lacked in flavor and quality. The best dish ordered was the splattered crepes and I’ve still had better. Bottom line: I wouldn’t stop there again if avoidable. Better luck to the next guests.

The waitress with the hazel eyes is fiiiiiiiioooonnnnneeeeee The pizza sticks are really mozzarella sticks. It’s a good value and a good place to stop off the 99 if you are over fast food.

Worst restaurant ever. You’ve been warned. They can’t make a decent breakfast. My food came out looking Grey and cold. Looks like the prison nearby has loaned out their kitchen for this establishment.

Gonna have to give this place 3 stars. The food was pretty darn good. But no one greets you as u come in. It’s hey find a seat where ever u can. Uh ok. The server was pleasant. But as we ordered never asked how we wanted our eggs or if we wanted toast or this or that. But what ever. The food took a little while. If they we’re busy I could hv understood. But they weren’t. The food arrived and was very good. I will say that. But I guess two refills of coffee is all u get. Cz after the first«hey can I warm that up for you«. We never got asked if we wanted more coffee. Which we did. By the time we got asked we were done and ready to leave. All in all it was an ok experience. I’m mean it’s Perkos. Sooooo… yeah.

My sister and I stopped in here for breakfast last week. The staff was very friendly and the place was clean. We had prompt service and the wait staff was on top of refilling our coffee and water without hovering too much. My sis had the french toast, which was good. I ordered the«Splatter Cakes» which is Perko’s version of a crêpe stuffed with cream cheese with a strawberry topping. There was a bit too much topping, but hey, it’s not fine dining. We both enjoyed our meals, and I would go back again.

Last time I eat dinner here. I’ve tried on several occasions but m done. Breakfast is outstanding. Ordered the Gilroy Ribeye. Wow this was full of grissle and tasted awful. It was almost like they got the worst piece of meat and beat the hell out of it, soaked in something and then cooked it. Didn’t even taste like beef. Vegetables were the best part of the meal. Waitress was very friendly and had a great smile. My daughter loved her BBQ wrap.

After driving for 6 ½ hours, I was in dire need of some sustenance and fast food stops don’t carry the food I eat. So I stopped off in Chowchilla and decided to give Perko’s a try. I ordered the vegetarian wet burrito and was impressed by how fast the service was. I have to say, the burrito was HUGE. I was only able to woof down about 1⁄3 of it. It was pretty good. The waitress was new, but she gave great service and I barely waited for my food. I would say the food was about 3 stars, but the service earned the extra one. Would I eat there again? Probably not as I am not local and I like to try new places whenever I am traveling. But the veggie burrito was not bad at all.

Being that my family lives in Chowchilla we eat at the Perkos there approx. 1 – 2 times a month and have had nearly everything on the menu. The prices are great the food is pretty good and the service is ALWAYS great. The manager actively participates in the daily actions of the restaurant and is flexible with discounts/coupons. All in all for being a small family restaurant in a small town it can’t be beat. Now Madera’s Perkos? Will never eat THERE again

I’ve eaten here twice in the last month or so. Both times the food was good, and the service was friendly. It’s your typical diner fare with nothing real special, but what they make is good. They also have big portions. I liked the chicken fried steak breakfast. It came with a lot of food, and I left stuffed.

Stopped here on our way back from Fresno, hungry after a tennis playoff match. The service was great — sweet and local hostesses and waitresses. The daily special was Cajun chicken and they were flexible with the soup & salad combo. They also had a bonus — sweet potato fries and onion rings as options. All in all, a solid spot to make a pit stop with good food and great service. And for the kids, they also have ice cream! I would eat here again.
