I took a quick stroll through the 3rd Avenue Farmers Market in Gaslamp before heading to work. I knew I wanted coffee before my hectic day at work and I was so happy to see this cute coffee truck! «5150 Café, Where the Coffee is Crazy Good» and let me tell you, it was one of the best iced coffees I’ve ever had. I’m a coffee junkie so this means a lot! Their menu is awesome, had a variety of coffees(iced/hot) and teas. I had no idea what to order so I asked the guy. He was super sweet and helped me pick my iced hazelnut latte with soy milk and two espresso shots. All of that for under $ 5… I’m pretty sure I get charged extra for changing my milk and any espresso shots at starbucks so that was awesome! The flavor was so intense, I sucked that baby down in minutes. I was so excited for the following Sunday to roll around so that I could get another! I wish you were here everyday and not just on Sundays! Great service and amazing drinks.

I went to the Otay Ranch Farmers Market to experience this adorable little café. My daughter treated me to a hot chocolate and it was perfect. I don’t know what brand was used but it was one of my favorites so far on the hot chocolate playing field. The owner was a nice guy whose family is from the mid-west in the same part of town I was born, so I was able to have a nice conversation with him on my previous life. He was very down to earth and I hope that his business booms for him.

Gratefully we will never see a café which pokes fun at people living with cancer, multiple sclerosis or other life threatening, chronic illnesses. The 5150 Café pokes fun at people living with mental illness, referring to the legal term«5150» used when committing someone involuntarily. The slogan«Where the coffee is crazy good» with a logo portraying a cartoon«crazy» person reflects the poor taste of the owners. Instead of creating a café which bullies the 1:4 people living with symptoms of mental illness, why not create a café of hope?

The café has amazing drinks and the family that owns it is so amazingly friendly! I love the father and son set up, very kind and great to see in such a nice community setting. I bought a cappuccino from them at the openaire market today in Bonita and was so impressed!!! Different and better than the giant chains where you get boring, generic tastes. Gave me a great pick me up to get through my day! They have a lot of unique drinks I’m excited to try, and all are very well presented. Definitely will be buying my caffeinated drinks from them from now on when I’m in the area!

Attended their soft opening and it was awesome. They had great mixtures and original coffees for tasting. Good staff working too, they were friendly and had great suggestions since I couldn’t make up my mind.
