An ok place for sushi. It is near where I work and there are not many food options for the area. Service is ok. I have had better but for the area it is ok.

If you want dry rice and not-so-fresh seafood wrapped in seaweed, this is the place for you. The chicken teriyaki is a better way to go rather than sushi. Go here if you absolutely must, but grocery store sushi and frozen Japanese may better satisfy your hunger.

905 is okay with me. I don’t order huge so it fulfills my craving. I have to say the salmon sushi I always order is great. The fish itself is extremely generous in size. It could never be called razor thin either as it hangs over the rice. I love the seaweed salad and the miso is good. Jessica is fab and always attentive. She even remembers I like lime in my coke! It is a bit strange inside but I like it. Try it next time you are in the area! There isn’t much else around.

I came here for the first time last week after a visit at my favorite DMV. I was about twenty-eight numbers away from being called up so I figured I would give it a shot and maybe I would see an old friend, Ashley. To my surprise, Ashley was working that day so it was nice seeing her. Her customer service was superior. She was professional and attentive the entire time. I’m not speaking highly of her because I know her, I saw her attend two other guest and she acted the same way she did with me. And, I think a few reviews below me speak highly of her as far as her customer service. The only roll I had was the California roll and it was the most expensive Cali roll I’ve ever had. The roll with tax came out to $ 5.98. I couldn’t believe it! Yes, the rolls were fatter and bigger, but they only gave me eight. I guess I’m use to getting ten but they’re usually a bit smaller. As far as the taste, it was good. I did a get a side of chipotle and spicy mayo sauce which helped give it flavor. I did enjoy my stay here because its a small joint, simple, dark but yet nicely designed. I didn’t have high hopes because its Otay Mesa, what can you expect as far as sushi in this area? I did notice and Ashley recommended the 905 roll and Claudia’s roll which do seem very good according to the image I saw on the menu and the description. I’ll have to come back some day and try those two rolls.

If you’re stuck at the DMV waiting, this is a great place to grab a beer and a sake. Excellent service from a cute blonde. Skip the food and that’s five stars. I had the Chicken Katsu lunch special. The plate was nicely presented and the items included tasted great. Unfortunately the chicken was cut super thin and hence the portion of chicken was super small. The end result, really dry Chicken Katsu Jerky. Katsu 0, Service 5.

I feel so bad posting yet another bad review for 905, but maybe they will read their reviews one day and improve. The only reason they get any stars from me is because their server(always the same one) is awesome — sweet, attentive, yet not in your face all the time. The sushi isn’t horrible — not the highest quality though. Sushi is usually based on raw fish, whereas this menu seems to focus on cooked/fried rolls smothered with heavy sauces. It really does seem to cater to the Mexican taste bud(nothing wrong with that! I’m Mexican! Love me some salt, chile and lime on almost everything! BUT lime served with my Miso soup? Really?!) My main qualm though — the reason that inspired me to write this review — is the amount of fish that you get if you DO order a roll that happens to be topped with raw fish. It’s Razor Thin!!! I’m not exaggerating — you can see through it! Not cool 905! Not cool!

You can’t really expect much from sushi places in this area… It’s a bit pricey and it’s really not the best food, but for this area, it’s probably the best sushi you’re going to find. Great service too.
