What a nice find! The mechanic was professional and didn’t try to raise the prices or find other things to charge me for. In and out in half an hour and they also gave me a 5 dollar coupon to use the next time around!

The employees here are very accommodating, honest, and provide excellent customer service. I appreciate their honesty, especially as a female customer. They did not take advantage of my minimal automotive knowledge, and gave me honest and sound advice.

This place is awesome. Got my BMW in the same day and they were up front about everything. They also have longer hours due to the fact that they are connected to the gas station so if you need to pick up your car late, you can. Great customer service!

I don’t think these guys work on commission. Took it to a place in DT and they gave me a $ 2500 estimate. Took to this place and Jimmy, the tech, laughed and charged me for an oil change. Truck has been tiptop with regular inspections ever since.

Smog check review:
Randomly stopped by on a Saturday at 2pm for a smog check and they had time to take it even thought they closed at 3pm. There were a few people ahead of me, but they still took my car. They were nice and good service. It was $ 50 and they electronically send the results to the DMV.
They told me that my car needed all these things done to it because there were a few leaks. They told me I needed battery work and a tune up. What they didn’t know was that I just had my car completely serviced for regular maintenance. I have a great trustworthy mechanics place I go to who are certified and they didn’t mention any of the issues Bonita Vista Gas and Auto. Weird.

I got my AC Service 60K mileage and I am satisfied with the way he handle the customer, I forgot his name but he is one of the skinny dude tech there. He is honest and price me exactly how much it will be not something like other that they will hung you just to get the price up… I tested the AC and right now it’s freezing cold… I gave you 5 stars.

Absolutely the best auto mechanics in Chula Vista! Very honest, courteous and professional. I would always take my vehicles there for oil changes, brake jobs, tire replacements, and most electrical and/​or mechanical issues. I would highly recommend them to all my family and friends.

This was the closest smog check station to my house and the Unilocal reviews were good to warrant a visit. I came in today as a walk-​in to get my car smog and was in and out in literally 20 minutes. I was unaware that cars 2000 and newer no longer needed to be dyno’d and that everything was measured by the cars sensors.
Service here is excellent and the mechanic pointed out that one of my tire pressure sensors is bad which I already knew. The best part, he quoted almost half the price of what the dealer wanted to charge me to replace the tire sensor. I will definitely return to get other work done.

Apparently this place has difficulties with appointments. Called in for a 1:30 pm & mentioned I had a Chev Silverado P/​U, when I pulled in they said my tires were too big for their dyno, made it shake too much. Never heard that one before, had this truck smogged 3 times prior with same tires.
Never a problem. Would’ve been nice to mention when I called for apt. Thanks for the wasted trip, 1^st & last.

Honest mechanics, took my SUV in same day for a smog check and were done in under an hour. Definitely come back next year for my smog check.

Quick in and out for a smog in under 30 minutes. I’m grateful that they took me as a last minute drive in on a rainy day. I’d come back. The smog cert gets automatically sent to the DMV via electronically. No need to get the old school paper. I’d come back now that I’m in their system.

BMW needed a battery and they were the one place closest which offers interstate batteries. I forgot who I spoke with but he knew his stuff and was aware of the differences in batteries that could come with my specs. They put it in the day I called and charged considerably less for the same battery than the BMW garage wanted.

Went in for a smog check. They fit me in the day I called. They were friendly on the phone and in person. Got me in and out within 20 – 30 mins. And charged me exactly what they said over the phone.

Dale is an angel and helped us turn our maintenance light off and realized the oil change folks put our tire pressure dangerously high! Thanks so much Dale!!!

Ok, so now all of a sudden my husbands car is cutting off on him. It wasn’t doing it prior to taking our vehicle to this place. Weird or a coincidence? Now they are offering to do the same service less money. Will follow up with you.

I took my 95 F-​250 there. I had done business with them before, but will never even recommend this place to my worst enemy. Because my Vehicle Smog test had to be done at a Star Location only. I had to go there. On Monday I called and made an appointment for 9:00am. On Tuesday.
I was quoted $ 49.00 bucks. When I get there they said that because my truck was older than a 1996 they had to charge me $ 69.00. Being as I had to get the smog done I had them do it. They said the truck failed. After tehy screwed around with it for 2 hrs. For me to leave it and they could fix it that day. At 4:00pm they call and say they can’t get to it until tomorrow. Wednesday I had my mechanic repair my truck in January. He replace the Ignition Control module and the EGR Valve and EGR Control Module. when he serviced the truck. I take my truck to my regular mechanic who is a Smog Station but not a Star test only location. He looks at it and he tests the truck. There is a wire unplugged from the EGR control Module. also a vacuum line unplugged. He runs all kinds of tests on the truck and it passes well with in the state Nox. Emissions standards.
I was told by the people at Bonita Vista Gas that I could get a re-​test if it failed. I took it back to them and they wanted to charge me another $ 39.00 fee. Because I didn’t have them repair the truck. They want $ 137.00 plus parts to repair the truck. I get back there @ 1:00pm as I had made an appointment for the re-​test. They tell me I would have to wait until 4:30pm because they had several cars ahead of me waiting. (when I had made an appointment)
I took my truck to a Star test station on Telegraph Canyon Road just east of Hwy 805, the man tested the truck in less than 30 mins. I was on my way with a certificate that said it passed smog.(bad thing it cost another $ 60.00)
We also took my wife’s 92 Dodge Ram Van (full size van) there and they did everything the could to fail it also. It passed. but according to them just short of failing. While they were testing the e-​vap of the fuel tank the hose came off their machine.

Quick efficient service and smog checks at a reasonable price.

Worst experience!
Made an app A DAY before for smog test, I asked «how long it takes?» «He said «30min» I said «good, have another app after, so let’s make it 9:00.» First time make app with them, saw Unilocal good review…
I took my car in, there wasn’t the guy who can perform smog test, but my name is on for app. The other guy said «sorry your name on app but the guy is not here, won’t back another half hour, can you come back later?» What is the meaning of appointment? If you cannot do it, tell me can’t take it. Or If there is an emergency, call me to let me know, then I won’t waste my time. The guy said «sorry, if u give us chance to see you, here is a $ 5 off». This place is mot cheapest, actually bit more than moat places. $ 5 off is still cost more than other places! But most is ‘My time worse More than $ 5′. I wasn’t happy since it was my first app in the day and I have more to get done in the same day. Nobody have time to take another day off to get it done.

First time going to this place where I had to get a Smog test for our Honda Accord. I checked the Unilocal reviews and I completely agree with the other positive reviews. This is definitely a place I will be returning to. I came to the counter and told them I needed a smog check for my car. Larry, the owner, asked for my paperwork and said, «We’ll take care of it.» After 20 minutes, I was done and driving away. It wasn’t the cheapest place for a smog, but time is much more precious for me and I am very satisfied.

Good, honest and capable mechanics. They charge by the book but are very honest and straight forward. I believe you may end up saving money (and aggravation) by dealing with honest people who charge the proper price, rather than crooks who say they are giving you a deal. Robert and Rey are very good guys and as soon as you meet them you can tell they are honest guys who are proud of who they are and what they do. Honest mechanics are very hard to find these days. This is a local business that should be supported and is much, much better than the gas station down the street.
