Affordable sushi! Modern décor and nestled in a little shopping plaza inside of the Otay Ranch Shopping Mall. I love how their sushi rolls are always 50% off(dine in only) I usually get the rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll, snowball roll, crunchy roll and the philly roll-Good quality for the price!

This place has a great atmosphere and great food you the entire family. The prices were a lot cheaper but they just went up on food due to the increase in cost of seafood. Overall I like this place better than any other sushi place so far here in San Diego.

One of the best places to buy sushi not just in Eastlake but all of San Diego. The fish is fresh and has great flavor. Only gripe are all the hand made signs when you walk in, kind of lets you know customer service is not a priority. One of those you do it my way or get out.

We love to eat at sushiya for many good reasons, and we always sit at the sushi bar, but can someone tell me why they make us wait at least 15 min even when there is many empty seats? It is a mystery for me or a strategy for them !!!

Everything is cool except for the host. He seemed like he was in a bad mood and this happens every time I order something over the phone. Food is good, though!

Can’t ever really go wrong with this place. Good sushi good location. Asides from that this place is really inexpensive and quality of food is really good. I usually always get the chicken teriyaki plate which comes with salad and white rice I really really recommend it. Sushi itself is good my favorite is the snowball. The only downside is that this place is a little small and always feel like all the restaurant and costumers are all eating at the same table lol

I enjoyed the food pretty well. The quality of the sushi here to me personally is probably the best amongst the South Bay area. Our waiter was extremely attentive and friendly(he also had a striking resemblence to the green power ranger) so he did a good job. What drives this down a few stars was the wait to get out the sushi rolls. It seemed close to 45 – 50 minutes to get the rolls to our table. It was a bit busy. However, the hot plates of food our party ordered also came out way before the sushi the rest of us ordered. So half our people were close to being done eating by the time the sushi came out. It seemed pretty long to get the sushi. I would come back for the rolls as the rainbow and killer smoked salmon were delicious. That wait though… I just hope the food gets out a bit faster next time.

My first time here and I’ve lived in Chula Vista forever. Heard about Sushiya, but since the place is in Otay Ranch, I had a feeling it’d be a bit overpriced. And it lowkey was. I always try crunchy rolls at the sushi houses I go, but the ones from here aren’t special. Shrimp was stale, meh. The servers were nice, but I think it’s because they knew my friend. Lol, but overall, the place was okay. Had better sushi somewhere else though, for cheaper prices.

Over priced and the food wasn’t that great. My miso soup was lukewarm, service was horrendously slow and my server was bad. She took forever to even come over to get drink orders and my kids were getting restless. We waited for over 5 mins until I ASKED for someone to get drink orders. The food took forever, which was odd since there were only 3 other tables besides ours. Decent nigiri and sashimi. But the fish tasted a little dry, maybe a bit too old? Not as fresh as i would have hoped for or expected. The rolls were ehh okay. Our bill was $ 100 for me and my 3 kids. We didn’t order anything out of the ordinary and they don’t eat a ton since they are all under 8yrs old. Service was horrendous. I don’t think I’ll ever be back. Such a shame since I love Otay Ranch.

I always have a different experience when I go here when it comes to customer service. Sometimes there’s friendly service other times not so much. I think it all depends on the server you get. Regardless, Sushiya has always been my go to spot when Im craving sushi. It’s located in the Otay Ranch mall which is in a really nice location with lots of stores and the movie theater by it. The quality of the sushi and other food is yummy and special rolls are 40 percent off which is great. I really like sitting at the sushi bar because the sushi comes faster. also, For those who haven’t eaten here before, I recommend the lunch specials they have.(: one of my fave restaurants for sure. The only cons I can think of is that it does get busy on the weekends which lead to long waits, some servers aren’t the nicest ppl and the snowball roll shrunk! I used to get that roll often but I noticed they make the pieces of that roll a lot smaller now.

First time here at Sushiya last night and it was pretty good! I wasn’t able to have any rice because of a wisdom tooth procedure recently so unfortunately I couldn’t have any sushi or rolls. I was able to try the garlic edamame and it is seriously the best i have ever tried. In my life. I also had the shrimp yakisoba and that was very good as well! It was a huge portion for the price so i was very happy about that! I can’t wait to come back and try the rolls they looked really good! Would recommend :)

This is a quality sushi Restaurant with excellent fresh sushi and very friendly staff. I highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar for this one. The food comes out quick and the sushi chefs are very friendly. If you happen to be an over eater when it comes to sushi, then the bill can get a little pricey on the other hand.

I have never been here before. I wish I would have come here sooner. My kid pulled my leg and convinced me to go here instead if my usual sushi spot. We enjoyed a spicy tuna cut, miso soups, house salad, edamame and a Spanish roll with added lemon. The rolls could have been a little bit bigger but they were delicious so it’s not a huge deal. The server was amazing though. His name was Andrew. He just started working here and he did a great job in making sure he worked hard. He is learning the menu and quickly knew to ask questions to others for anything he did not know. He made sure that our drinks were always filled and also asked if we wanted dessert. He did a job well done.

Best sushi in Eastlake Chula Vista. That’s not saying a whole lot, but it beats the pants of of the other sushi joints in the area. One thing, if you don’t like waiting, and you don’t like crowds, avoid the dinner rush at all costs. 6 – 8 is usually packed any day of the week. The bar area is small and the sushi bar isn’t a loud and Sakai fueled party like some places, but this is a bedroom community, so don’t expect a lot of partying.

It’s me and my boyfriends go to sushi place when we’re in east lake. Their prices aren’t that bad when you order it from their shaded gray boxes. I love their snow crab rolls. Can’t go wrong with that. Or the spider roll, philly and rainbow roll. Me and my boyfriend usually sit by the sushi bar so we can get our food faster. The sushi chief are always super friend and nice.

This is one of the best sushi places I have been to in west and east Chula Vista. The snowball, the Hawaiian, the lobster roll, edamames, and the Japanese spicy fires are all delicious! The service is good for the most part, prices are average, but it won’t leave you broke. They are usually what I order when I come here, and with a nice cold Sapporo beer you can never go wrong.

Decent sushi in the Chula Vista area. I’ve been here multiple times, never had a bad experience with customer service or anything. I never really crave sushi, but this is a good option if I do and I’m in the area. I usually order some Pork Gyoza w/a roll and call it a day. Recently I was able to try the Shrimp Shumai and thought that was good, soggy compared to my gyoza(which was made exactly how I like it) I’ve had the dragon roll and California roll, because I’m not a complex sushi girl. The California Roll was extremely small. The pieces are tiny and the portion looked kid size. I believe that the chefs put a lot of effort into presentation, but this one roll in particular is blah. Pricing — I don’t get the half off rolls if dining in, 40% off if you order to-go on select rolls. Why can’t you just price it that way? I don’t need to feel like I’m getting a deal. It’s an «all the time special.» I would also expect a long wait if you have a large party — the space here is quite small. I overheard someone asking if they could push tables together to make it work, and the host didn’t seem fond of it. They also have TV’s so if you wanna come by and watch the game, sit at the sushi bar, it may be a good spot.
