Best first tacos in town!!! On Tuesday the fish tacos are only a dollar! They have good shrimp tacos too. If you’re in the Chula vistas areas stop by!

Service was just ok, at best, but the food was good and the prices were affordable for seafood!

Excellent food and service! Their ceviche is SO good and tacos as well. Honestly, one of the best ceviche around San Diego. I’m surprised not a lot of people know about it. Definitely a must go to place in San Diego!

You have to try the arrachera and shrimp taco I always used to have the same fish or shrimp taco, I just tried this one and it’s my new favorite!

TLDR version, good portions, better than decent food, bad service Came here since the location had a 4.5 rating, only to find out on closer inspection it is based off of less than several dozen reviews. Quickly seated, even during the lunch rush, and chips, salsa, red onions and limes were quickly placed. Menus were provided. Only the menu was spanish only. The server was short on patience and would not explain what items were in English when asked. Later had to look up the translations online to see what my options were. Ordered a combo meal($ 8) and two fish tacos($ 1.75 each) I was not feeling so only ordered water. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and the portions were large for the small cost. However the water was never refilled, and only asked how we were doing once near the end of us eating. We asked for a refill of drinks, which we never received, and the consome that came with the combo meal was never brought to the table. With that we asked the check, paid, and left. Summary, BADSERVICE. As for the food, the amount for value was great, for what was brought to the table. The tacos were well stuffed and they did not skimp on the meat. While the batter was good on the fish and shrimp tacos, they quickly lost their crispness and became bready as they softened. Therefore, order food to go and eat quickly.

This place is great! probably the best seafood spot in west Chula Vista. their ceviche is really fresh and their salsa is pretty amazing. the taco portion is pretty big and their prices aren’t bad at all. I really liked the beer battered fish and the shrimp is also good. I would recommended anyone to come try this spot, its kind of hidden on Broadway but if you drive slow enough you’ll see it. Staff was also very friendly and super attentive.

This place has amazing fish tacos. I usually only get the fish tacos because they are the cheapest on the menu and are the best deal in Chula Vista. My family of 4 ate there for $ 17. We all had tacos so our drinks made the bill higher. Highly recommend this place. We are regulars!

Good friend of mine treated me with some fish tacos from here. I’ll admit that I was doubtful because I already have my go-to spot at a different location for one-of-a-kind fish tacos. Wow, these tacos are HUGE! «Usually I eat 6 from my fav spot, I ordered 4 from here, the 4th was torture! Good flavor overall, spicy salsa to go with it gives it the kick that fish tacos should give. Will be coming back soon and referring them to friends and family. Staff is very kind, also. The only ding is that they have beer on the menu but were unable to serve as they were trying to either get their alcohol license again, or for the first time. Great little gem, nonetheless.

I use to come to the taco place that use to be at this location. Seeing that it was a new place, I figured I would give it a go. I ordered the Arrachera and Shrimp taco on a corn tortilla for $ 4.50 I believe, and grilled fish taco or «a la plancha» at $ 2.50, and a side of re-fried beans for $ 2.00. The meal also came with a basket of corn tortilla chips and with a variety of their house made salsas. I tackled the Arrachera taco first. Arrachera is known as inside skirt steak which has a unique full flavored beef flavor and is sliced across the grain, comes out very tender. The arrachera steak came with a very good sear, was very tender, tasted quite good. However, a little more seasoning via some salt would of done the skirt steak justice and help bring out those natural flavors of the meat more readily. The shrimp that accompanied the taco were great. They were well prepared and popped in the mouth with flavor and texture. The taco came with only a small slice of avocado, a habit I hope they change and add a little more. The melted white cheese, which I believe was Monterrey Jack was very good. The grilled fish taco came loaded with several large pieces of well seasoned and grilled fish. The taco came with a nice cool slaw and a very tasty white creamy sauce. The fish was very tasty and surprisingly filling. This fish taco went very well with the house red table hot salsa that came with the basket of chips. By the way, not only was that salsa great, but it packed some heat! The re-fried beans were quite good, but they used some very«aged» Cotija cheese which had a very strong pungent scent and flavor, so it through off the natural flavor of the beans. They were creamy with bits of the whole beans here and there. I like Cotija cheese, but just not when it’s as strong as this one was. The employees and owners at this place are quite welcoming and sincere regarding your enjoyment of the food.

It’s all about the food here and the food is great. I love mariscos and I could order anything from this menu and be happy. I got 2 marlin tacos, 1 gobernador and a horchata. Sauces, onions, limes salsa, chips and horchata come out right away. Chips were some of the best I’ve had in awhile. Very fresh. Salsa was delicious, just wished they brought out some more. Horchata was delicious and was beyond thirst quenching on this hot day. Out comes the plate. Marlin tacos are so good. Love the smoke flavor mixed with cheese and the fresh tart citrus and onions on top. These tacos are very large compared to most mariscos places. The gobernador was very good too. I like everything about Tijuana JR and will be stopping in the next time in the area. This place is a WINWIN.

Tijuana JR has three problems. They do not season the main ingredient enough, Spanish only menu, and location. The medium redish brown colored sauce has a smokey flavor with a medium heat finish(loved it). After all seeing all the stars given to this restaurant, I wanted to try it myself! Tijuana JR has a great mastery of cooking their fish to perfection. The fish was extremely juicy and flaked really nicely. However, no seasoning! Could barely taste the fish over all the other ingredients. Shrimp and Beef Taco — The beef had an ok amount of flavor. The shrimp, none whatsoever. The biggest disappointment was there was this minimal sear on the beef, like they were still have frozen when they tried to sear it. This caused all the juices to flow out of the beef and made my taco soggy and the soft shell started breaking apart once I picked it up. Location — They are located right next to an automobile repair shop. The repair shop was using a metal sander shooting shaving of metal everywhere, and it was loud. If they improve on their seasoning they are definitely a restaurant worth going back as a take-out joint.

They still have the truck on H street but I like this sit down restaurant better. A very nice casual place with very reasonable prices and fresh seafood makes this place a total winner. The frying technique is very good here is that the batter is always fresh with clean oil and cooked at a hot temperature so that it doesn’t have that oily and greasy taste. My friend and I had two different combos at great prices. Combo 1 fish taco, shrimp taco, consome 3 bucks Shrimp Combo 1 fish taco, 2 shrimp tacos consome 6 bucks Total with tax 9.99 a great deal! This place is going to be a success for sure and the fish tacos are way better than TJ Oyster Bar it is not even close.

Well when I walked in, I definitely got the feeling that it was a place for regulars I ordered combo xolo that was supposed to come with a beer but they didn’t have any for sale… so I was offered a soft drink instead I ordered a jamica. They then brought me consome which tasted really good. So the first two tacos I ate(camarón&pescado) were good really good the third taco(camarón enchilado) was good but not up there with the first two or maybe I was full the proportions were good the music was good playing pleasant experience the prices were fair

Yes yes yes yes! Usually go to mariscos filli down the street but we wanted to sit and relax a bit. The tacos were amazing!!! Guacamole was fresh, sauces and salsas were so good and just the right amount of spicy! Ceviche was cooked just right. I only write reviews for places that really wow me, and this place deserves your business.

One of the best, if not the best fish taco in San Diego. I love fish tacos and I’ve eaten them all over San Diego but these are seriously amazing. They are soo good I had them cater my wedding. My guests couldn’t stop talking about how good the food was and I’ve had quite a few people ask me for the info to cater their next events. My only complaint is that I don’t live closer or I would be here once a week. Worth the drive to Chula Vista!

This place is awesome I’ve been coming here since they were only a food truck and I never am disappointed when coming here! The fish tacos are my favorite big size great flavor and very cheap! This place is a hidden gem right next to the 2star McDonald’s so instead of a Big Mac get a taco next door!

Best bang for the buck. 2 fish tacos, 1 shrimp taco, and 1 shrimp ceviche tostada all for $ 8! All in all, the taste was good and the portions were very generous. The tacos were fresh, crispy, and came with a generous amount of vegetables, which was refreshing. There was more shrimp than cucumber in the ceviche, but the ceviche was tangy and quite tasty. In addition, the guys working the truck were nice and friendly as well. If I came back to San Diego and happened to be in Chula Vista again, I’d come back.
