I love the tortas here! They taste the same as in TJ. Service is friendly and prompt. The menu is varied, but I only have tried the tortas since they are so good. The place is well decorated and clean; much better than a typical taco shop. You can bring your kids and have a very nice lunch here.

I’m obsessed with their fruit bowls and the mushroom quesadilla, especially with sour cream and guacamole! Totally worth the extra few cents! I’ve only had a few other things on the menu. I don’t think the«pesto sauce» on the pesto chicken salad is actually pesto, or at least it really doesn’t taste like it. The smoothies are fine, nothing extravagant, probably could easily make one at home myself. Staff is very friendly and tortas and burritos are pretty tasty. Can’t really speak on any other menu item, but a nice place to go here and there for lunch.

Two for two great experiences. Good go-to casual place. Great service and great people working there. The spectrum of california burritos to salads is consistently made and presented well both equally great tasting. Affordable and a good place to take kids. Good spot for event watching like even political debates. Definitely going back.

It’s a little out of the way but worth it. My go-to for Mexican food in Chula Vista.

I ordered the Tuna Salad salad which comes with a bread roll to go. The tuna on the salad was disgusting and did not seem fresh at all, so it ruined the rest of the salad. Ultimately, I paid 7 dollars for a stale bread roll and did not eat lunch. Really disappointing they would allow something like that to be served. The cashier was friendly though.

Decent food, decent prices. A bit of an identity crisis. They sell Mexican food, fruit salads, hamburgers, sandwiches.(???) Only 3 stars because they say the open at 8. I show up at 8:08 am. Lights are off and only one guy in there. Told me they were open but didn’t have any food prepped or ready. Ummm, then you’re not open. Your door is unlocked but that’s about it.

I love this place and the tortilla soup is my favorite. The food always tastes fresh. They are very friendly too and they have vegetarian options too. Unfortunately, don’t take american express but they do take visa. The outdoor seating is nice for good weather.

Got the cubano this time and the carne asada. The cubano with the smoked pork on that crusty bread is the winner. Also tried the complimentary pickled carrots and jalapenos… fresh and not too much heat. Will have to try the burritos and chilaquiles next time.

This place is the best– the Torta sandwiches are excellent! I like their Hot Carrots… simply delicious. Also, the staff is friendly and they make the place truly inviting.

Fresh food. It’s a mix of Mexican based tortas and deli sandwiches. They also serve coffee and smoothies here. There’s a lot of different food to choose from. I had the grilled chicken sandwich combo that came with a tortilla soup and drink. Just under $ 9. The soup was good and was plentiful with tortilla chips in it. The sandwich was good also. They have some pretty good number items for clean eating options. Definite must Unilocal spot in Chula.

This 5 star rating is based on my one time visit. Stopped in this morning for the first time on a whim. Tried the breakfast burrito and it was great! They make everything from scratch when you order and you can taste the freshness. Best burrito I’ve had in the Eastlake area. My son had the bean and cheese burrito and he loved it. It’s hard to find good refried beans, but this place nailed it. Will definitely be coming back for breakfast and trying different things.

Yum. My husband wanted to go out to eat breakfast on Saturday, but I refused to gonto the Broken Yolk ever again after eating disgusting fruit that made me almost puke. So I went on Unilocal and saw this plave had many recommendations. We came here and I am so glad we did. The food was delicious and the workers and so nice.

We were waiting for the pizza to arrive at a kid’s party at sky zone and couldn’t take it any more. Kitty corner from Sky Zone is Vega Caffe, which is sort of like a dressed up taqueria. They had Italian café art on the wall, but the menu was Mexican. I’m not sure what that was all about. We had the carne asada fries. They were pretty good. You got tons of meat, which is always appreciated. It comes with cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. You can get hot sauce on it if you want(Red or green). The only complaint I had was that they use steak fries as the fries. My wife loved it, but steak fries are just not my thing. Overall the asada fries were tasty and a good value and just a hair over $ 6 after tax. I would go again.

Food is pretty good here. Large portions and quality food. A few minor things that irk me. They don’t always accept their coupons(odd), for example those in the Entertainment Book(who declines their own coupons). Second is that I’ve never felt the A/C on in this place, even when it is 95 degrees outside. Always just the doors opened. I really don’t feel like eating in a stuffy hot restaurant.

My review is mainly for the smoothies! $ 3.50 for a healthy fruit smoothie. Made with fruit, yogurt, and apple juice. Super yummy! I got Pineapple and Mango. I also got a green juice which was super healthy but NOT delicious ahaha, but that’s normal for green juices! My cousin got the Mandarin Chicken Salad and really liked it! Lotsss of chicken and toppings, they didn’t skimp. Also the fries are thick and potatoey which is nice! Ambiance is fine, not fancy at all, very simple but clean. Would definitely stop if I was nearby but wouldn’t go out of the way a lot to come here :) Enjoy!

My sister brought me to this jewel in Eastlake! I’ve been here several times and have ordered mostly their tortas which are still to disappoint! The portions are huge every time and they are well made. I’ve ordered their juices and they are really good. But my all time favorite thing to order are the tostilocos they make here. For those of you who don’t know tostilocos but are fans of spicy and sweet treats –you must try! — its a bowl with tostitos(yes the chips) topped with cucumber, jicama and peanuts, topped with chamoy, lime juice and hot sauce they also have«cueritos«which if you don’t know what they are I would not include. But if you’re up for experimenting ask for them! They are pickled pork skins –just do it! — worse thing that can happen is that you have to pick them off. Back to the place in particular its always looked and smelled clean, the employees are really nice and helpful and the food quality and portions are excellent!

Tell me why it takes over 15 minutes to make a juice blend for me. There weren’t even too many people in there and only 1 person ahead of me. I appreciate that she apologized for the wait, but I could’ve drove home and made my own juice(including the time it would take for me to drive home) in the amount of time. There were only 2 employees, one of which I saw sporadically. The other girl was manning the register, serving people, and making the juices. As far as the juices, I like you can pick your combination but I wish there were more options. This is what you can choose from: Apple, orange, carrot, celery, and beet. I was hoping for at least Kale & lemon and maybe some more fruit and vegetable options. But the price is really good at $ 3.70. I so far prefer the juices down the street at sprouts. I’ll have to try the food some other time to rethink my star rating. But for now, because of the long wait, I can’t justify a higher rating quite yet.

I came to this restaurant because I read on Unilocal about the great food here. I must say that my wife ordered an excellent fruit salad that was very fresh and tasted excellent. Unfortunately, I ordered the breakfast burrito that had left me with a lot to be desired. My burrito has 75% potato and 25% everything else. Add to that, I had the same potato wedges as a side dish to my potato filled burrito. Can you say too much of a single ingredient, I certainly can. I felt like the Vega Caffe was cutting financial corners with my meal and I was none too happy with having that notion. Having said that, due to the fact that my wife’s salad tasted amazing, I will give this establishment a second chance by returning sometime in the future and ordering another burrito that is not of a breakfast variety. I’ll let everyone know how it turns out…
