While Ramundos is slowly going downhill and commercial pizza has no heart and soul baked into it. this is by far my newest favorite. Proud to say its local. Will be returning frequently. Great booze selection. I’d suggest the goetta and onion… or chick bacon ranch. Or just do both. i did ;)

Our favorite pizza in the square! We live up the street so we alternate ordering in, eating on the patio, eating inside, and carry-out. The patio is standard Mt. Lookout square, so if you like that, you will like this. Sitting at the bar inside was actually a lot cooler than I would have thought. Staff was friendly. Theres a TV, kinda fun to watch the pizza-making process. The pizza itself is GREAT! They have meatballs for a topping… need I say more? Go on and git you some, you’ll be happy you listened to me and I preemptively accept your gratitude.

We were told our delivery would take 45 minutes. It took 2 hours for the pizza to arrive, then the restaurant didn’t offer any kind of compensation or discount for the extremely long wait.

So… I decided to take my kids out to spend some quality time with dad. We started the night with some bowling and then decided it was time to eat. The kids were chanting from the backseat«pizza pizza pizza.» There was a place I wanted to visit in Mt Lookout, so that is what led me to Bubs. I did call ahead to ensure bringing the minions would be ok. Funny enough, I was told it was fine and wouldn’t be wild until about 1 am. So we arrived and started browsing the menu. They sell slices, 16″, and 24″ pies. Oh… the 24″ is huge. I was told that is what they refer to as there party pizza. The restaurant was nice and cozy. They had a couple of tv’s with sports playing. Me and the kids decided to sit at the bar where they could watch the master pizzasmith at work. I must say the ingredients were fresh and plentiful. The pizzas being made were stacked with ingredients. I spoke to the owners/pizzasmiths and that just increased my rating of this great little hidden gem. They were very nice and I enjoyed hearing story about the different food show and hosts they have met. Ok, ok… back to the food. The kids and I were not in agreement for what to order. Since we couldn’t decide, it was suggested to do a split pizza. So… we went with the supreme and extreme pepperoni. The pizza was great, the vegetables were cooked to perfection. All I can say is yummy. The kids loved it and couldn’t get enough. I will be back to this place soon… maybe even order the party pizza just to check it off my list. Me and the kids had a great time, after leaving it was time for some gelato.

Thoroughly enjoy this neighborhood gem. Quality ingredients and it shows. Craft beer & cocktails available. Delivery available. Bub’s has everything I need and they do pizza right!

This is the new pizza place in the old spot vacated by Lucy Blue’s in Mt Lookout square. The new ownership has renovated the interior and it has a full service bar now which is cool. They also make their specialty pizzas for sale by the slice which is really cool. Good spot to stop for a quick slice and a beer.

My husband and I tried Bub’s on a recommendation from a co-worker and I’m super glad we did! The pizza was exceptional. You can order by the slice or pizza. We opted to order by the slice. We ordered 2 each and that was definitely enough. They come out huge! We ordered the Mediterranean, which had Corto olive oil, garlic, kalamata olives, mozzarella, roma tomatoes, and feta cheese, and the Bianco Pomodoro, which had Corto olive oil, garlic, mozzarella, roma tomatoes, and fresh basil. He was actually suppose to get the Pesto and Goat Cheese instead of the Bianco, but what we got was delicious! But I’m definitely trying it the next time. And if you have a large group, they offer a gigantic 24 in. pizza! I highly recommend Bub’s!

Full disclosure– I came home from work Sunday night and found this pizza on the counter and eating it room temperature earns it 4 stars. That makes it some pretty damn good pizza. So many good things about Bubs. For starters it’s right in Mt. Lookout Square. Love. Two, it’s great pizza with a doughy yet crisp crust, and a seemingly perfect cheese to sauce ratio. They have a variety of pizzas including meaty to veggie-fied. Obviously can’t complain that the pizza I had the pleasure of enjoying was pepperoni and sausage covered and was on point. I’ll definitely order again. Hands down most amazing surprise to come home to ever after a 10 hour day.

I really hate to pan a locally owned business, especially one serving a food I really like — pizza — and even moreso one with the coolest feature of all — a sidewalk ordering window selling hot slices of pizza — but unfortunately, the pizza is just plain bad at Bub’s, and thats why I have them at the lowest rating one can give on Unilocal. Service was friendly and accommodating. Parking is a problem, but thats true for the entire Mt Lookout area. Prices are reasonable — 2 bucks for a slice? Yes please. But the slice of pizza they served me — and mind you, I saw it come fresh out of the oven, so this wasn’t sitting around as slices at such joints sometimes do — was not as good as any low end frozen pizza I’d bake in my own oven at home when my wallet was a little lighter than I’d like. Seriously. If you’re in that area and you’re wanting a slice — do yourself a favor and walk the block or so from there to Ramundos instead. Or upgrade to one of the outstanding sausages or appetizers at Wurst Bar in the Square, just a few steps away

Late night pizza on the square is definitely a plus. I like this place better than Lucy Blue. They have a good selection of specialty pizza available by the slice. They have some good vegetarian options as well. The crust is maybe a bit thick for my preference, but it tastes good.

My hubs and my favorite pizza place! The chicken bacon ranch is AMAZING. Pepperoni is delicious also. The staff and owner are very friendly AND they deliver to mariemont area which is much appreciated!

Bub’s is the shiznit! We ate at the«bar» and had a fantastic meat lovers’ pizza. Great customer service, high quality ingredients. The bake was a little chewy for my taste, so I’m going to order well done next time. A+ pizzaing, guys.

The long time late night favorite of Mt Lookout changed it’s name and signage recently, going from Lucy Blue’s to «Bub’s Pizza». I’d never gone to the walk up window, at least not in any state that I could remember, so I can’t compare if the food made a drastic change(though I have had the Lucy Blues in both OTR and downtown, and been pleased with each). What I can tell you though is that Bubs is a hell of a great spot to grab a slice, a beer, watch a game, or just kick it with friends. A small, intimate bar, with a single table in the back, starts at the end of the ordering counter, facing two tvs that stay on sports(though I’m sure they’d put on whatever the hell you’d like). When I was there James Brown Pandora was going through the speakers, so I was treated to everything from Miles Davis to Chuck Berry, and loved every second of it. There’s the typical slices on offering at the front(cheese, pep, sausage), for a few bucks a piece. Or, you can order your specalties. They’ll whip up a whole pie to sell you a slice of whatever you’d like, or you can get them as a whole for ~$ 18 — including half/half specialties, any changes or customization you want, and with a bit of guidance from the awesome staff you’ll end up with some amazing pizza. We had a half and half of bbq chicken and the tomato olive oil(it has a fancy name, not margherita, but I don’t speak eyetalian so I couldn’t tell you). Regardless it was a hell of a delicious pizza, which we followed up with a slice of pep a person. The pepperoni was greasy and awful for you, in the way the best pizza joints are — good wholesome smokiness with some bite, and delicious cheese. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this spot, and will be going back for both late night slices and sit down deliciousness.

Not impressed with the«new Lucy blues»… The pizza has changed(in my opinion it’s not good) so we haven’t been back since we first tried the bubs pizza. We used to go all the time after MLTs or Proof but now we’re going to ramundos. May try it again but not getting my hopes up.

Having 10+ years in food service, and a majority of those in pizza, I’m not one to quickly or easily give my stamp of approval regarding such. However, Bub’s is a definite exception in Cincinnati. The staff was friendly and welcoming immediately upon our entry. They were willing and able to provide recommendations regarding our specific tastes with regard to «by the slice» availability at that time. One my friend and I sat down to enjoy our meal we had to opportunity to speak to some of the kitchen staff, Maggie, and the owner Mike. Both were exceptionally hospitable and willing to share their experiences with the restaurant and tips regarding baking their perfect pizza. Thank you guys for a great experience and I look forward to the next! Tl;dr the people are great, the pizza is delicious and more than filling. The restaurant has great charm and a quality selection of local beers, as well as a liquor bar. Make a visit!

Great for late night, inexpensive pizza after hitting up millions or MLT. They have about 10 different pizzas served by the slice at about $ 2.50/slice. Check it out!

Lucy Blue in Mt. Lookout has closed, and Bub’s Pizza Bar has opened in its place. The late night hours that made Lucy Blue a popular spot will be maintained(until 3:30 on Friday and Saturday) but the pizza has changed considerably. Bub’s features a stone fired crust and a big selection of specialty pizzas. Plus they offer local delivery, which my wife and I were happy to use recently. We couldn’t settle on just one of their specialty pizzas so we got half and half. My choice was the goetta and onion while she wanted the pesto and goat cheese. Two sizes are offered, the 16 inch regular and a large 24 inch. The 16 was plenty for the two of us with leftovers for the next day. I’ve been waiting for a restaurant to offer a goetta pizza and this one did not disappoint. I will definitely order this again!

Called expecting Lucy Blue and found Bubs. Figured might as well order. Ours was a later at night order and a simple pepperoni pie. Person on phone was helpful and delivery was actually less than 30 minutes. The pizza itself I’d call closer to New York style with foldability etc… Though not blown away I thought the pizza was solid. Good construction and flavor. The real test of any pizza is how does it taste from the fridge the next day. This one was still pretty darn good! I will try it again with maybe a different style. If you like trying different pizzas I’d add Bubs to your list and judge for yourself!

I saw that Lucy blues was replaced so I figured since it was new we’d try it! My first confusion was there was no prices or sizes on the site. So I had to call for that which was fine. I had ordered at about 8 and we didn’t get the pizza till about 915. After waiting I was hoping for great pizza. It was average at best. We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza without veggies. It tasted like… Ketchup, buffalo, and skyline??? It was dry and different… And not the good kind of different. May give it another shot! We’ll see!
