Went here Friday night 06÷10÷16 for sushi with a friend. It was ok for half priced. The restaurant is dark inside. It gets very crowded and they have banquet size tables that you can share with other people. I would bring cash to this place. I used my credit card to pay and it seems like after that happened I started having issues with my check card.

Love their calamari. Sushi prices are reasonable and service is fast. Best to come at opening time, as the place packs pretty fast.

Favorite sushi spot in the city. Never fails to be exquisite. Try to avoid during peak hours because it gets crowded in the place is very small

This is certainly not the best sushi I’ve had, but it is good sushi and the half price rolls after five cannot be beat. My fiancé and I visited at 1 in the morning and they were full– this is definitely not what you’d expect for drunk people fare. We split four rolls and two slices of sashimi for under $ 25. Ooh, and I loved their indie pop rock ambient music. If this is Cincinnati’s late-night food offering, other cities need to step up their games.

Best sushi I have had in Cincinnati! Wonderfully yummy creations, quick service, nice and attentive servers, hot sake on tap. My favorite go to place, great prices.

I had very high expectations when walking into this restaurant. It didn’t quite live up to them, but it also wasn’t bad. The place was PACKED on a Thursday evening, so we got take out. It was awkward to put an order in and then either stand along the wall trying to get out of the way or leave. We left for a few minutes. It was just as awkward when I went in to pick up our sushi. Our sushi was tasty, but nothing special. It was supposed to be half priced, but if that’s what we paid then it’s originally over priced.

This may not be the best quality of sushi around, but for half price and with deep fried options(see: Sunday Morning), you know I’m a fan. We like to sit at the bar so that we can watch the rolls be made while we wait for our food and eat. The beer selection isn’t great, but there are some okay choices. I really like the shrimp shumai to start. There are a couple of tables to eat outside, and depending on the time you go in the evening, you may have a wait. The food is solid and good for a quick sushi fix, which happens often. I’ve probably tried upwards of 15 of their rolls and all have been good. The fact that it’s half price when dining in is a huge selling point. I come here regularly and am happy with it every time.

Update: 5⁄1 — I have received calls from friends about Cloud 9. They have some crazy rule that they are only allowed to seat a party of two at two top tables which is odd because in that place they only have 1 two top table that is separated from the larger tables. All the other two tops are pushed against the four tops. Doesn’t change my dissatisfaction because why didn’t the host just explain that to us instead of dismissing us and treating us like we didn’t exist? And he didn’t even look at us or answer me when I asked him why he wouldn’t seat us! And if that’s the case what’s the difference to filling tables if all the tables are pushed against the others. You would have to sit with strangers either way. Just dumb. Just seat two people across from each other and let them know that seating is shared seating because of space. Don’t just make people wait and then don’t communicate! — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - 4⁄30 For the first time I experienced the most bold Racist Act in my life. I have lived here in Cincinnati for 28 years and today Cloud 9 just destroyed the once faith I had on good people. I took my daughter for Sushi tonight and we were told that we could either sit at the bar or wait for a table. I don’t like to have my daughter sit at a bar so I said I would wait for a table. We waited for about 15 minutes. And when a table became open the host sat the Caucasian group behind us instead. As I looked at him and said are you not going to seat is? He didn’t say anything. The most cruel thing I have ever witnessed here in Cincinnati. I had always enjoyed eating at Cloud 9. And will now never eat there again. And I will continue to tell everyone I know about this story.

The food is fine for Ohio sushi and the drinks aren’t overpriced necessarily. It’s a staple to MT. Lookout and I wouldn’t change a thing.

I went to eat at this place on last Sunday night. We ordered sushi rolls, and I decided to order seafood ramen noodle. I had no idea that I would end up eating Korean brand instant noodle(ShinRamyun) that I always buy at Walmart for less than a buck. They didn’t even make it taste nice. It was served with too much broth and overcooked noodle. Furthermore, the waiter was a kind of rude. The bill was $ 41 and we gave $ 50 cash. He brought it back and didn’t even put it on the counter we were sitting, instead asking us if we need change. If I were an owner of this restaurant I would not be very happy.

Went on a Monday night and it was packed. I took a girl there for a second date and we got seated by the window next to another couple. The seats are SO close together, you’re practically at the same table as the other party. My date started talking about an uncomfortable date she went on followed by a story of how her ex threw a vase of roses during a nasty Valentine’s fight. I could sense the couple next to us squirming in their seats. Staff is super friendly and the food is amazing. Edamame and Sapporo as an appetizer, because we know how to do it. Also ordered the Tutuna roll with tuna and asparagus(kinda fell apart but it was still good). Definitely recommend.

This place… OMG! Half price sushi and delicious food until the wee hours of the morning? Yes please! I’m not really a sushi lover but I suggested this place to a friend who is and I’m 100% sure we will be back. It was just the 2 of us so we crammed into the bar and we were immediately brought waters and menus. My friend ordered about 14 different types of sushi and I opted for Pad Thai(crazy I know). Food took a while, mine actually came out first and his took almost 20 minutes after. Meanwhile we endured huge plate after huge plate being passed between us from the bar to the server which got to be bothersome but they were apologetic. Overall I’m definitely coming back if anything just to try the Sunday Morning roll and a Mochi sundaes!

I have to say this may be my last visit to Cloud 9. I’ve been going there for several years(usually at about 1 – 2AM after drinking). As drunk, half price sushi it works but even then it’s felt like the quality has been dropping. Tonight, I went there for dinner and regretted the decision pretty quickly after getting my food. The sushi tasted a bit like Kroger sushi and was a bit warm in spots where it just shouldn’t be. I love sushi and I’ve enjoyed this spot in the past. It’s slipping and I’ll pass.

This was another date night choice and I’m so glad we decided on it. The sushi was sooooo good, and I’m not even a huge sushi lover. We ordered about six different rolls between the two of us and ate every piece. The surprisingly delicious and cheap roll was the sweet potato roll. We even ordered a second one. The tempura roll was unbelievably delicious, had so many seafood ingredients and was uniquely assembled. We really enjoyed the roll with the smoked salmon on top. The only roll we wouldn’t order again was the veggie roll. It was just kind of blah and the flavor of the pickled radish did not come through. This was our first cloud nine experience. We had been to Ichiban down the street at least twice. Comparatively, the cloud 9 atmosphere was a lot less formal, felt crowded and was a little bit of a letdown compared to its competitor’s classy dining tables and booths. We had to sit at the bar for our date. However, we both thought the food was far superior. Mmmmm… I think I want some sushi again!

We were given $ 10 recently from Crossroads church #reverseoffering, and told by the couple to go do something nice. It pays to have a newborn with you in a church service. :) What to do with a date night? Get some sushi! We’ve gone to Ichiban a few times next door. My honest opinion — I liked the atmosphere in Ichiban much better — a bit nicer and spacier. But, when it came down to the sushi itself, I’d say I liked Cloud 9 better. The smoked salmon roll we had was excellent, and we had a china roll that was fried and awesome! We’re novice sushi eaters — so less raw good, but we liked it and will definitely be back!

I have heard good things about this place and thought it was time to finally check it out. Having had amazing sushi at a number of places in big US cities, I am a bit difficult to please. Added to this, being a vegetarian, I’m looking for inventive and tasty rolls that do not contain fish. Sure, this may be a rather odd concept in Cincinnati, but not in other hip parts of the country. They at least had a selection of several things for me to try. It was OK. About average, but at half price, what do you expect? It was a reasonable given the quality to price value ratio. It’s a cozy spot and fun to sit at the sushi bar. The staff is hispanic, not Japanese, but they seem to have adequate training for the quality of sushi being served. I would go again, but it’s not at the top of my list.

Flavorful sushi with great service. No complaints here! I have been coming here since it was Dancing Wasabi.(I have some great stories about late night sushi from this place but that’s for another time. ;) Made sure that it was half-price sushi time before going. I got the Legend and Vege rolls with pieces of flying smelt roe and white tuna nigiri(my favorites!). Whenever I get sushi, no matter where I go, I like to get a spicy roll, a veggie roll(for the pickled veggies) and nigiri. I love sushi for the varying textures! I thought the Legend might be spicier but it was still very good. The fish inside was very smooth. The sushi rice was extra vinegary which I liked. Our server was also really friendly. The service was pretty prompt considering how many people were there. When we got there, there was only one table for two inside and an outside table – at about 9pm on a Thursday. Next time, I am going to do a smörgåsbord of nigiri!

This is my go to sushi spot for the everyday sushi. The prices are great and the happy hour on drinks cant be beat! The staff is very nice and usually on point with service. I go to other places if i want quality over quantity but for a really good sushi dinner that doesnt break the bank this is the place. It is very small so it’s best to expect a wait but the tables turn over pretty quick.

I don’t particularly like sushi. I’m Asian, but had a terrible fish market experience when I was a little girl in Korea, so I have an aversion to seafood. But I love the culture of sushi here in America. So I like to tag along with friends who eat it, and get veggie options. This place is my favorite. Whenever I’m in Cincinnati, I instinctively crave this place! The Sweet Potato Roll is yummy. The service is great, especially since it’s always packed. From what I hear from my friends who do eat sushi, the quality isn’t the best, but it’s half priced and still tastes good. If you don’t mind going to a hole-in-the-wall type sushi place for cheap, decent food – come to Cloud 9!

Half price sushi all the time is a reason to walk through the door but the Sunday Morning is your reason to come back regularly. Holy cow! I have had all sorts of sushi all over but these little tempura’d beauties are by far my favorite. It is unlike anything else and absolutely a flavor and texture sensation. Yum!
