I stopped in here over the weekend and really enjoyed my meal. I will say my experience wasn’t the best but I don’t blame the restaurant specifically. We walked into a busy and full restaurant so we patiently waited. Only problem is the entrance is very small and there isn’t a lot of room to stand. After an awkward couple of minutes we were seated by a very nice girl who was the host. She ended up coming back after 5 – 10 minutes because no server had ever stopped by. She saved the day! Our actual server came over only 3 or 4 times during the night. The food was awesome and they had a great selection of special rolls to choose from. I love when you get special rolls but they are normal size, some of those can be huge and more than 1 bite. This place did it well and it did remind me of the dancing wasabi’s food. A big thanks again to the blonde host that helped take care of us!

The California roll was very delicious! I will be back again next time. It is also not very expensive. I am happy we stopped by. My boyfriend had the beef bulgogi and he liked it very much. The place is a little cramped but all in all it is great!

Fantastic sashimi and sushi. The winner tonight was the dancing lobster roll. Great ambiance for a casual Tuesday dinner date.

We went here on a Tuesday night and had a wonderful experience. We had the California Dream Roll and the Dancing Lobster Roll which were around $ 7-$ 9 each if I remember correctly; this was the half-price menu FYI. Each roll was HUGE. We split just two rolls and were stuffed. They had the perfect amount of heat to give it a little kick. The staff was very friendly and so appreciative of our business. Please check this place out and I think you will be pleased!

Half price sushi near Hyde Park Square. I have visited this place a few times now, and I find the experience to be fairly even every time. Great, friendly service. Decent sushi rolls at a nice price point. The complimentary miso soup is always a plus, especially on a cold winter’s day(like my most recent visit). Service was fast and didn’t make me feel rushed like at some places. The ambiance was okay, though they were playing some bizarre club/dance kind of music, which I’m not saying is negative or positive, just a little odd to me. Didn’t really detract from me stuffing my face with more sushi than was good for me, I can promise that.

Thanks for the miso soup with the sushi but Dancing Roll is just a weaker, less hopping version of Dancing Wasabi. The menu is quite similar. Same rolls just done in a different way. It’s not the worst place to pop in when you want a quick bite but let’s just say I left half of a roll on my plate and didn’t bother taking it home with me. On the plus side, Dancing Roll is still half-priced if you order take-out… impetus enough to me to return!

Dancing Roll really left a lot to be desired. After reading all of the 3 – 4 star reviews I was expecting to really love this place. Unfortunately, I did not. The food was pretty mediocre and same goes for the service. We stopped in around 8 on a Saturday night and there wasn’t one customer in the restaurant. This should’ve been a huge red flag but I chalked it up to the heavy rain outside. Aside from the staff, the place was completely empty. My cousin and I were able to choose any seat that we wanted. A server came by and handed us menus. She wasn’t rude or anything, just not very welcoming. She didn’t go over any specials, didn’t recommend any crowd favorites. Her personality was really quite dry. I don’t even think she smiled. No, this isn’t the only thing that made me give them a two star rating, the food was really a determining factor. While the food wasn’t awful, it also wasn’t great. We ordered a few of the standard rolls and a few of the specialty rolls. None of them excited me. Before our sushi arrived, we were each served a bowl of food. Yes, this was nice touch, but the soup(served in a plastic bowl) was pretty bland. After a few sips, we were pretty much over it. The presentation of the soup and sushi wasn’t great and the taste was just blah. I must say that I really expected more from Dancing Roll. They have a wonderful location and could really be a great replacement for the greatly missed Dancing Wasabi. Hopefully, they’ll improve over time.

Dancing Roll is a great addition to Hyde Park! So happy to have HALFPRICESUSHI so close to my home. I have been itching to try this place for weeks, so I was pumped to finally get to come here this week for date night. My husband hates sushi(and I love it), so right off the bat he was happy that Dancing Roll serves items other than sushi, including teriyaki style meat with veggies, various noodle dishes, and even a few Korean specialties like Bibimbap and Bulgogi. Another thing that sets Dancing Roll apart from the other sushi options in Mount Look Out are the fact that they do half price sushi for dine-in ANDCARRYOUT. Yes, that’s right, you can get your sushi to go and it’s still half price! [Yes, you could ask yourself, «if it’s always half price, then why not just reduce the price on the menu??» Very good question, but for some reason sushi places in Cincinnati all claim to have«half price» sushi in order to bring in customers… It’s not logical, just go with it.] We noticed they have an extensive happy hour(5−11pm 7 days a week), and we were happy to order beers(Sam Adams Oktoberfest for only $ 3/bottle). Every dinner comes with complimentary miso soup… The soup was just ok, but considering that it was free I was very happy. We also ordered the Gyoza(pot sticker dumplings) appetizer, which came out super quick. The dumpling was ok, not great… I think they would be better if they were pan fried instead of deep fried. For dinner, I ordered two rolls… The Play Boy roll(recommended by our server) and the Rainbow Roll. Both were good, although I preferred the Rainbow Roll because the Play Boy roll has tempura shrimp in it and it was a little heavy. They had some very interesting rolls on their specialty sushi menu(hot dogs in sushi, anyone??), but the best part is they were ALL half off, so you can even order the crazy rolls at a discounted price. My date ordered the Bibimbap which was served in a stone bowl, piping hot, and with extra spicy sauce on the side. It was surprisingly good for a Japanese restaurant, and a ton of veggies and food for just $ 13. As far as décor goes, this ambiance is kind of generic, but our service was fantastic. We were seated right away, our food came out very quickly, and our server was really helpful explaining the menu to us. Overall, I think I prefer this place to the other sushi restaurants in the area, and I will be back to try more items on their specialty sushi menu!

I’m glad I had the chance to visit Dancing Roll this past weekend. I’ve read positive things online, and they definitely lived up to all expectations I had. Dancing Roll moved into the space previously occupied by Doodles, just off of Hyde Park Square. The space is set up with a sushi bar and various four top tables. The color scheme they decided to use really opens up the space — very bright and welcoming. They offer ½ price sushi on all special rolls and regular rolls just as most sushi spots do — but what’s nice is they offer ½ price on carry-out sushi too, which I haven’t seen too many places. Another side note: The head chef is the former head chef at Dancing Wasabi. We didn’t order any of the entrees, but everything coming out of the kitchen smelled and looked amazing — I will definitely be trying something off of the regular menu next time I’m in. We ended up ordering: Uni, Seaweed Salad and 4 Specialty Rolls and a round of Kirin’s My friend saw Uni on the menu so we started with that. I had never actually gotten the chance to try Uni before, but I’m glad I did. The texture and overall flavor could throw people off if you aren’t that big of a seafood fan — but I definitely recommend trying it. The hostess let us know that itis best to stop in for Uni on Thursday and Fridays — this is when they get their shipments in. Typically it’s gone after Saturday night since Uni is harder to preserve and you want to make sure to use it up 1 — 2 days after having it shipped in. As we moved on to the Seaweed Salad, Miso Soup was brought out as well. I didn’t see it on the menu, but I guess it comes with every order? Either way it was yummy. The Seaweed Salad was good too, tossed in a sweet ponzu sauce. Next were the sushi rolls. Below are my thoughts on each: Spicy Lobster Roll Steamed Lobster, Crab stick and asparagus topped with spicy mayo. This was my least favorite of the 4, but I’m pretty picky when it comes to Lobster so no fault there. Play Boy Roll Tempura shrimp, asparagus, egg cake, topped with two pieces of salmon, 2 pieces of tuna, Eel sauce and spicy mayo. I’m not usually a huge fan of tempura because I don’t like how it can be a bit overbearing in flavor and cancel out actually tasting the rest of the roll — but it wasn’t too much in this roll. The flavors all worked really well, the salmon and tuna were fresh and the egg cake was a nice addition for texture. Don Dog Roll Cream cheese and hot dog topped with spicy crab, eel sauce, spicy mayo, Siracha and Tempura flakes. We got this roll purely because it of the hot dog addition. There’s no need to be too extensive on what my thoughts were — order it, you won’t be disappointed. Spicy Double Tuna Roll Spicy Tuna and cucumber topped with Tuna, Eel sauce and spicy mayo. Spicy tuna is always a must have when I go out for sushi. This roll was simple, flavorful and delicious. I contemplated ordering another roll once we were done, but 5 minutes or so after the meal the sushi and beer all started to set in and we were stuffed. I think Dancing Roll is going to do really well if they stay on the path they’re on — great food and great service. I look forward to my next visit.

My friends and I enjoy our time at Dancing Roll in Hyde Park every time we go. Even though it isn’t as cozy as the West Chester restaurant, the locale of this place is great. It’s around the corner from Cock and Bull and is next door Macaron Bar, which is a recommended spot for dessert after dinner. There isn’t much for décor at the place, but the staff is always friendly and attentive. There is half-priced sushi all day long, so it’s cheap. The sushi is generally better than what you pay for. I prefer the special rolls over the simple rolls(like tempura containing rolls over the yellowtail roll for instance). I like the Monday, Orange, Scallop, and Bengal rolls. I always get free miso when I come here, and I really enjoy the warm, deep broth. I come here for dinner, so it’s less crowded than lunch(been once) and the sushi comes out fast. I have ventured away from the sushi menu once and got the stone bowl bibimbap, which was pretty good! The flavor was right but the protein serving was a little lite. If you’re in Hyde Park, you should stop by Dancing Roll and finish of your night with a visit to Macaron Bar.

I’m happy with this new sushi option in the Hyde Park area. First of all, it’s not as crowded as the other places which is nice. I’ve never had a problem getting a seat. Their half price menu is extensive, and even includes take out. There is complimentary miso soup with the meal which is a plus. I appreciate that there were a good number of options for me when I was avoiding raw fish while pregnant. Service is attentive and quick. It is also slightly more affordable than the other places(like Cloud 9 or Ichiban). We always order enough to fill up a boat, and it is less than $ 30. Other people have commented that the rice is on the dry side– it perhaps is, but it really isn’t too bad. In any case, I’ve enjoyed coming here, and will plan to be back.

Finally checked this place out after watching the remodel and opening a few weeks ago. Dancing Roll’s originally location is in West Chester, so I already had heard about the half price all the time ploy. Honestly it bothers me(just make the prices cheap!) but I get it, it makes more people come in. It’s also happy hour from 5 – 11. We had a Sapporo, red wine and 3 specialty rolls for $ 28. I sat outside and I think the service would be a little quicker inside. But it’s nice to be out while we still can. The miso soup was a bit strange, but the sushi was good. On par with Cloud 9 and Ichiban. Everything was very tasty and what I expected. I’m glad I live nearby… I would probably order takeout next time. Definitely a place to try if you are looking for sushi in the area.

OK, so if you want average, half-price sushi, with mediocre service in HP, this is the spot for you. The sushi is fine, not great, but fine. And it is cheap. However, I think those two things typically go hand in hand. There isn’t any real ambiance, but it’s cozy and there are a few tables outside which is nice. You really can’t walk to a better sushi place in Hyde Park. I think if they really wanted to make this a better spot, they would just cut out most of the menu items, focus on sushi, a couple appetizers and some simple beer/sake/wine options. At that point, there would be less expectations. The reviews are so good and the website is very upscale, that I had higher expectations. I was really underwhelmed by the service. Nothing happened that was bad, but they didn’t really know their menu, or anything about the drinks or desserts. They left me unattended for a very long time(luckily I had a book), and were generally very slow to do anything. Not bad enough to keep me from walking to half-price sushi though. I ordered the Vegetable Yakisoba. It was not good. It was just noodles with a few bits of cabbage and a couple slivers of carrot. The sauce was smoky and tasted a bit meaty/fishy. As a vegetarian, this was a turn-off for me. I also tried the mochi ice cream. It was mostly just chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce and whipped cream.

We stopped in here to get some sushi with out of town friends around 845p. The place was not too busy and we had no trouble getting a table. The service was a little slow but they seemed to have some new staff. The server was very friendly and apologetic. The sushi was tasty, if a little on the small side. Prices were reasonable with other sushi restaurants in the area. Given it’s location, I am guessing it will get to be more popular once people know it’s there.

Came here on a Friday afternoon after seeing the reviews on Unilocal. We were greeted with a friendly face immediately. The restaurant was about half full but it took a long time for her to get our order in. There was only 1 server for the entire place so she was running around frantically. The lunch special was 2 rolls + 1 miso for 5.99 or 3 rolls + 1 miso for 6.99. The special rolls were also half off. The prices were really great so we ordered around 6 rolls. The rolls took a while to come out as well but I understand as it seemed like a mom and pop shop with limited staff. The rolls were small with very little rice and ingredients. I didn’t like how the sushi rice was dry and had no flavor. The ingredients inside were also minimal, everything seemed just a shrunken version of a usual sushi roll. This might be due to the fact it was lunch and everything was on special pricing. Maybe I need to try the dinner prices. It is pretty much you get what you pay for kind of deal, cheaper prices = cheaper quality. It’s def a great place for lunch though if you’re on a budget!

Yummy lunch today. The sushi was great, stone bowl was great, too. The only«off» was the timing of food coming out. Our soups and entrees both came out at different times. Perhaps they’re a bit understaffed and didn’t expect a crowd for lunch. Overall, great new addition to the neighborhood and we’ll be back.

Well back in Cinci for the weekend, and wanted to be one of the firsts to review something new(going into withdrawal and feeling out of touch with the scene down here). Let me just say how happy I am to have an affordable sushi place, literally one block from Hyde park. This place is going to give the usual suspects in this unassuming location right on Edwards. I called to make a reservation ahead of time since I’ve never been here(and once again got credit from the GF), and we hi tailed it down there. We arrived to find 20 tables a quarter full, which is not bad considering they opened less than a week ago from my visit. The waiter, Winston, was more than friendly(I’ll admit I thought I heard a chuckle when I asked if they took reservations, haha) as he seated us and gave us some time to look over the menu. The interior is unassuming with a sushi bar a few TVs and a nice outdoor area that has 7 or so tables. Since I’m a human vacuum cleaner we ordered a sweet potato roll, a spicy salmon, a spicy double tuna roll, a crunch roll, a CINCINNATIREDS roll!!, and two orders of nigiri– yellowtail and salmon. And ahoy, mateys here comes the boat! Yes the sushi plate was so large they had to send it on a large wooden boat.(Look at the pics) The yellowtail and salmon were very fresh and the rice was well prepared, the cincinnati reds roll was the cats ass! Spicy, gooey, chewy, and spring ky all at the same time. My favorite of all the rolls! The others were standard fare. My GF got a $ 3 dollar Kirin, and I had the 22 oz for $ 5. All of their sushi is ½ off all day, even for take out! Toward the end of the meal the owner came out and asked us how it was, which I always respect tremendously. It means they take pride in customer service. So here’s Davey Jones’s Locker’s rating: Ambiance. 3.5 plain, but clean. Hell I’ll say 4 because of the outdoor seating. Food. Better than average but not spectacular except the Reds roll. Solid 4. Customer service 5+. The waiter and the owner were both funny and fun. Value. Let’s just say we had 5 rolls and 2 nigiri orders and 3 beers for $ 34! Take that pretentious sushi eaters! 5+
Solid 5 and I’ll be back before everyone finds out about this place! I almost forgot the bonus, Miso soup comes with every meal!
