Order included Chicken Lo Mein, Sesame Chicken, spicy tuna roll and scallion pancakes. Sushi was good. Scallion pancakes were decent but super greasy and had about 3 drops of sauce to go with them. Lo Mein and the Sesame Chicken had absolutely no flavor. Not even worth saving and reheating.

I waited an hour to get the unagi don with a miso soup appetizer, the food was delicious but the service was terrible. I was with 5 people and they got their noodle dishes while I waited for my food, and when we made it known to the waitress she acted as if she had no idea. If the restaurant was busy I would understand a bit but we were the only ones when we sat down. I wouldn’t recommend this place based on the terrible service.

If you want lots of filler and no meat go ahead. I used to love this place but they have been getting worse and worse. I’ve got about 10 little bits of beef and the rest was piled high of veggies.

I ordered the salt and pepper calamari and Hunan Shrimp. I was very excited about the food from the reviews. The calamari tasted like it was refried after sitting for some time and the Hunan shrimp was bland with a little spice. I would search around for a better place before ordering from here.

Doodles is super awesome. They have really good food. Their food is yummy. I like the appetizers of pancakes and moo shu. The pork wonton and Sichuan pork noodle are my favorite. Recently, they added Sushi bar and the spicy tuna, California roll, and pot stickers tasted greater than sushis in many other buffets. They also have white paper to draw with crayons, it is good for children.

This little place is one of my favorite quick lunch spots in Hyde Park. Really excellent noodle soups. The tiny pork spring rolls are SO worth ordering. And they deliver!

Was quoted a 25 min delivery time but our food took over an hour to arrive. Then the Shanghai noodles I ordered were bland and flavorless. Won’t be eating here again.

A few weeks back my wife and I wanted something different delivered to our door for dinner. We settled on Chinese from Doodles nearby in Hyde Park. Our orders were prepared and delivered to our door very quickly, which was a great start. My wife ordered the thick and wide fresh rice noodles with spicy black bean sauce, crisp bean sprouts, Napa cabbage, red pepper, and chicken($ 10.95). The serving size was plenty, definitely enough to share or for leftovers the next day, and the noodles were good. The chicken was a little dry and I could have used a little more vegetables. I ordered the traditional Kung Pao chicken($ 10.95). Again the serving size was more than enough. This time there were plenty of vegetables but I found the sauce a little bland. It also seemed that the peanuts were not stir-fried as I expected. I would skip this dish in the future and order another noodle dish. Overall it was an average dinner with fast and friendly service.

Bleh. For those of you who rated this place two or more stars, I assume your experience was far better than mine. I sure hope so. My order was«to go» and they said, «Fifteen minutes.» I walked around the square to kill the time. When I got back my order was ready and waiting. I thought that was a good sign, until I realized as I was driving home that the bag that it was in wasn’t hot. Or even warm. Once I got home I was disappointed. The chicken was sparse, and I found myself digging at the bottom of the bowl looking for more. It just wasn’t there. Conversely, there was an overload of water chestnuts that could have fed everyone named Chester in the state. Topping it off, the dish was just bland. Boring and bland. A shot of soy would have helped. Hell, ketchup or barbeque sauce would have improved this«meal.» I’ll go another direction next time.

The first time I went to Doodles two years ago, I found it to be a gem where they at least had a couple things that were not the greasy American Chinese fare that dominates the Chinese food scene here in Cincinnati, namely the scallion pancakes and the szechuan style green beans. There wasn’t really a specific reason why it’s been two years since my last visit given my above average experience, but time passes quickly and I don’t tend to go out to eat Chinese food much. Well, the urge hit me yesterday and since we were in the area, my boyfriend and I decided on Doodles. We ordered hot & sour soup, Shanghai noodles with beef, and Szechuan style green beans. The hot & sour soup was fine — it could have been both temperature hotter and white pepper hotter, but the tofu and bamboo shoots were nice and soft, so it was definitely passable. My boyfriend’s Shanghai noodles were nothing special, though I was surprised they didn’t use the circular, slightly thicker noodles that Shanghai noodles are cooked with(more like udon noodles); the actual noodles used doesn’t really matter so much but it’s a slight pet peeve for me to order something based on the name and me already knowing what it should be like, and it coming out not as such. It didn’t really have a flavor or a color but was just flash pan-fried with some vegetables and pleasantly tender beef. Now onto the Szechuan style green beans, the most supreme disappointment of the meal. It was a vinegary(what’s that doing there?!), soupy mess. This is another case of me ordering something because I know what it’s supposed to be like, and then getting something else altogether. The beans are supposed to be crunchy and the sauce is supposed to be a dry, garlicky sauce. The beans instead were drenched in a very vinegary sauce, negating any crunch of the beans and resulting in a very sad me. I think the last vestiges of my Chinese heritage died a little last night. And the disappointment continues as I eat every vinegary bite for lunch. This meal begs the question: which time was the fluke?

Clean and lovely little restaurant with clean and fresh Asian cuisine! Doodles’ menu has Thai, Chinese, and Japanese dishes along with some beautiful — looking sushi. Crab meat — not imitation crab — is used on their bar. I did not try the sushi this time around, but certainly will for our next visit. I had Thai rice noodles with chicken, and my companion had general tso’s chicken. We shared a plate of pot stickers. The pot sockets appeared to be fresh, hand — made and were so flavorful! My companion said the general was the best he’s had in the area: there is just enough sauce to keep it interesting and the chicken is tender and not hidden inside a crunchy ball of tasteless dough. My Thai noodles were so light and fresh, it was as if I was eating their rendition of Spring. If you go with that dish, request extra cilantro — you will not be disappointed. Overall, we loved our trip here, and ended up with so much food, we each have at least one more meal of leftovers waiting in the fridge. Best part of all this? They deliver locally! Hell yeah!

Great environment and service, but the food was just average for its price. When my boyfriend and I entered the owner’s young daughter served us. It was surprising but very cute for her to serve us. The restaurant is a little on the small side but is very relaxing and comfortable. We ordered a chicken udon noodles and a pad thai. For the pad thai we ordered a spice level of 3 out of 10 and it was very spicy so if you can’t take spiciness then be sure to tell them a lower number. The food was pretty good so no complaints on that. Portion was perfect for us, not too much or too little. They also have a paper on the table for customers to draw on and I thought that was a neat thing to have. Definitely try the scallion pancakes. We ordered it since everyone recommended it and it was as good as people said it was. We also had a green tea ice cream in the end and it was two scoops of ice cream on one plate, and the taste was great! It had a very heavy green tea taste to it and we loved it.

Great takeout spot. I lived across the street and they had a new special every day of the week. Family operated, everyone is extremely nice. The chicken fried rice is dangerously good. I had to cut myself off from eating the entire order in one sitting. The fried dumplings are another great option.

Overpriced and small entrees. The food is good but certainly does not justify the price. I wanted to like them, especially since it’s about the only place that delivers something other than pizza, but we always end up disappointed. Try Oriental Wok around the corner! They recently closed for renovations and I haven’t been there since, but since that probably won’t lower the prices or change the portion size, I doubt I will return.

They just re-opened after closing for a couple of months for remodeling to add a small sushi bar. They have the typical offerings as well as some special rolls the chef created. Come back and visit Emily and her brother! I am sure they missed you!

There aren’t too many places in Hyde Park/Oakley that deliver, so that was how I found this place. I have never ordered takeout from another Chinese restaurant again. The wait is pretty true to the 45 minutes quoted– which seems like forever when you got home late from work, haven’t eaten in 6 hours, and the only commercials on TV while you’re waiting are steaming piles of food for restaurants. The food is well worth the wait. I always order the tofu pillows. Last night they were so crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside I wanted to lay my face on them and take a nap. They come with a brown teriyaki dipping sauce that is a tad sweet and pairs well with the blander taste of tofu. The egg rolls come as thinner, flakey versions. They are great and have a smoother texture as opposed to the bubbly fried wraps on traditional Chinese American egg rolls. I also got the red curry chicken with brown rice. It’s phenomenal. Plenty of vegetables and sauce. Shrimp is also a good choice and the pieces I got last time were on the larger size. The portions are big so you’ll want to share with a friend. Best Chinese/Thai takeout around.

I’ve heard from at least two people that Doodles is spectacular and a must-eat place. I’m here to tell you that… it’s not. It makes me sad to say, but there’s nothing out of the ordinary about Doodles. I went here with my brother on a «sib date,» because he really loves chinese/asian/noodle/rice food. We walked into a mostly empty restaurant on a Monday night. There was one other table, and maybe 3 – 4 people(all men, interestingly) came in to pick up take out while we ate. The service was great– the waitress always had our waters full and she recommended dishes to us when I couldn’t decide. We started with the chef’s fried dumplings, which were really good. Then I had the Szechuan noodles and my brother had the chicken fried rice. Both were good, the noodles were ordered at a 7 on the spice level and were spicy to me. The noodles were a really huge portion for $ 8.99! But, sadly, neither dish was very exceptional.

Yes it was hot as heck today, BUT I was still craving some steaming noodles and broth. THUS I turned to my fellow Unilocalers(thanks guys!) and ended up at Doodles. Doodles was delish! I ordered the Tofu Pillows and Spicy Beef and Spinach in broth. Both were very yummy and served fresh. The beef in the broth was marbled with lines of fat, and my first though was EW! YIKES. But oh man, guys, this beef was soooo tender and delicious! The cow it came from had to be some sort of mythical creature cow. A UNICOW. I ordered it as a 7 on the spicy scale, but ended up asking for more pepper sauce after I ordered. I know now that I should have ordered a 10. I like it hot I guess. Haha. The tofu pillows were cooked perfect. Nice and crispy on the outside and soft tofu-y on the inside. YUM. Service was fantastic and they have crayons on the table for people to ‘doodle’ on the tablecloths. I thought it was a neat little tie in to the name of the restaurant. DEFINITELY recommend going here. I parked on the street with the meters, but I assume there is better parking someplace in the area.

Doodles is consistently one of my favorite places for noodles in town. The quality is always high and the service is usually spot on. This particular visit was with a group from and there were about 10 of us who showed on a snowy Tuesday night. As always I ordered the Tofu Pillows. If you don’t get these, you’re missing out. They’re magical. How they get the outside nice and crispy while the inside is smooth like cream is sincerely something I’ve pondered many times. I’ve had many entrees here over the years. I always like to try something different if I can. This time, it was the spicy Cantonese Pan Fried Noodles. Even at an 8 on a 10 scale these weren’t spicy at all. They were tasty, but the noodles were drier than expected. Many in the group took advantage of ½ price wine night, and we had a wonderful meal sitting and chatting and getting to know everyone. While this specific experience wasn’t up to par with my usual expectations, I find it an aberration and not the norm. Comepletely check this place out, and doodle a little something on the paper table covers while you’re at it.

I owe a lot to Doodles, as this was the first place I finally fell for tofu. I was a nay-sayer, just like the lot of people I have tried to succumb to the ways of tofu, and Doodles set me right. I have no idea how we decided upon it, but somehow these precious little pillows of golden fried tofu appeared before me. A bowl of what looked like it could be just soy sauce sat beside it. Tentatively, I cut off a bite of the tofu, stuck it in the brown sauce, and stuffed it in my mouth. It was magical. Crispy on the outside, yet slightly soft on the inside. Not bland or tasteless, even alone the tofu was lightly seasoned and well cooked. But with that brown sauce — oh goodness, it was AMAZING. I tried to eat fast so that I would get more than my husband, then I snatched the sauce off the plate to save for my upcoming noodles. Why? I don’t know. I just didn’t want that sauce to go away. The noodles are also delicious. I can’t lie. I always end up with the same thing, the shanghai noodle, and sneakily dip a few noodles in that delicious sauce, even though I for some reason feel incredibly guilty about it. Then, I top it all off with the fortune cookie. That’s…well that’s normal. Seriously though, Doodles is adorable. They have a nicer feel, but you can sit there and draw on the table with crayons, which I spend a lot of time doing. It is quiet and simple and I have never had a bad experience there. I think my first time there was in July of ’08, and it is one of my favorites in Cincinnati. While I have found other tofu that has stolen my heart, there is always a place for my first tofu.
