Me being Japanese, this is not a real one. Cannot expect true Japanese food. But it’s okay for Hibachi, I guess…

Met up with friend and her brother for pre-holiday dinner, her brother lives on the West side and she was in town from upstate NY. You will fight traffic to get here as they’re right off Colerain, I was on Colerain bumper to bumper for 30 minutes on a Monday night. We had reservations, but still had to wait about 20 minutes for table, once we were seated, took about 15 minutes for drink orders and then another 15 to take our orders. I told the server I had a food allergy, several times, seafood & he reminded the chef as well as my friend also had to remind as he tried to serve me shrimp & cook my food with the utensils which touched the seafood. Décor is dated, bathroom wasn’t clean, not worth the trip to the west side.

Made a reservation for 1830. not seated until after 1900. It’s now 2019 and they haven’t even started cooking our meal. We have just been sitting here. I think 3 maybe 4 other tables have come in, ate, paid, and left already. Def. will not be coming back to see Rudi. He was one of the worst servers I have ever encountered.

I have been here 5 times at this point. What keeps me coming back? The location! Living in a cornfield, I have to come«to town» on a regular basis, and yes, Colerain counts as a «town» when you live in a cornfield. it is standard-grade(slightly above average) sushi joint(and I can only speak to the sushi — never tried the hibatchi). Seaweed salad comes on a bed of iceberg(huh?). The regular nigiri is all good, and they do an especially good job with the Unagi(I know, I know… it’s not eco-friendly, but it’s good). Never had bad salmon or bad yellowtail. I do like two(and only two) of the specialty rolls: The Crazy Tuna roll(a spicy tuna roll on steroids) and the Kabuto special roll(shrimp tempura, crab, avocado) or it’s simpler sister the Manhattan Roll is OK too). CONS: well if you are an elitist(moi?) you may not like the hibachi noise, etc. And the décor isn’t what I’d call«classy» or «authentic.» But the staff are nice and in the area, there’s not a lot else.

Kabuto is a place that will leave you craving more. From the soup and salad at the beginning to the(usually) funny and entertaining chef making your food, on the hibachi side, you’ll be wanting to go back next weekend. The yum yum sauce is what makes everything better. I am not a fan of the sexy sauce. If that’s what it’s called. I always ask for double yum yum. You do have to share the hibachi table with strangers but by the end you might have some new friends!

Love this place. Great quality, great customer service and great atmosphere. Ask for the teriyaki:)

Kabuto is a good Japanese Hibachi, probably the best in the area. The Chefs knew their tricks but there was not a whole lot of energy. Either way we had a great time and the food was good. Our group had a birthday to which Kabuto brought out drums and sung Happy Birthday in Japanese along with a bowl of tempura ice cream… Fun times!

So we headed here after hearing that Benihana had a two and a half hour wait. We took the 15 minute drive and were seated right away! Teppanyaki style cooking at it’s best PLUS this place doesn’t charge for all of the extras that some of the other name brand places charge for(yum yum sauce, fried rice)

I really like the Japanese meets industrial décor and the service was friendly and fast. However, the reason why this is 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is the food. DH and I went earlier today and ordered the Dinner for 2(with scallops instead of lobster because they were out) on the hibachi grill. The rice and chicken were bland and the chef drowned the steak and vegetables in soy sauce. There was no other flavor — no garlic, nothing but soy. The cost wasn’t bad for what we ordered but we still feel cheated due to the lack of flavor. Won’t be back.

Really good sushi with a friendly staff and a nice selection of options. We have been a few times and it is always a great experience.

Excellent food. Staff was very nice and attentive, chefs were entertaining. I found the prices to be a bit high, but since the food tasted so good, I didn’t mind. I had an order of Edamame(which would have been even better with a tad bit of pepper or salt on it), and the chicken/shrimp hibachi dinner. Loved that we could get sriracha on the side too! What I was NOT a fan of — the lack of room to eat at the grill, and the fact you have to share a table with sometimes more than two other parties(our case was two other parties), and the clientele this place attracts. The party at the table next to us let their children run wild, banging on plates, running behind our already cramped seating area, and just generally disturbing the whole meal. The family who got sat with us was great — well behaved kids, they spoke to us, and we had a great time. The other party at our table? Extremely rude. They essentially spread out so that the member of our party sitting next to them had little room to eat, and completely ignored our efforts to include them in conversation(this was a group of maybe 4 – 5 couples in their late 20’s to early 30’s who immediately asked for to go boxes and left as soon as the chef finished their entreés). Overall, I would definitely go back, just with a much larger party than 5 people so we’re less likely to have the rude people at our table.

Love it. We’ve been customers for over 11 years and through 2 location changes. Wonderful staff, Hibachi reheats wonderfully and we always leave with enough leftovers for another full meal!

This place was decent! I went here for a birthday dinner and the wait was crazy, even though we had a reservation. But you can’t blame them because who has control of the customers? We did have to wait awhile once we got seated for our chef, even though the other half of our party had a chef and was finished… The act is good, and the food was pretty good as well. I wouldn’t choose to come to Kabuto, but it was definitely pretty fun!

Who needs any other hibachi grill when Kabuto is near? I recently checked this place out because I was sick of leftovers from the holidays. Apparently others were as well because the place was packed! I must say the hostess needed a little improvement on managing the crowd. No names were taken so we were basically keeping track of who was next to be seated. The food was filling and very tasty. The chef was friendly, entertaining, and executed our orders with perfection. They do offer a birthday celebration deal, which looked pretty fun at the table next to us. It didn’t take away from me enjoying my experience so that was a plus. They offer a great lunch special as well! I’ll be back!

Truly can’t get enough of their spicy crunch roll, which is simply a California roll tipped with lots and lots of spicy crab. The crab is sooo sweet and delicious its literally addicting!

Went here last night with my husband and our two good friends. Expecting it to be really nice and a fun experience. We go to hibatchi a couple of times a year and we are usually at SOHO in tylersville. SOHO is a bit pricey so we figured we would try this place out considering its 3.00 cheaper per person… Well no wonder it’s cheaper. Their«yum yum» sauce is not yum yum at all. It is sour and not good. As where soho has really good yum yum sauce… The same goes for the ginger salad dressing. Here it was GROSS I should’ve gotten ranch and my husband agrees… The soup was pretty good I’ll give them that… Then I ask how much it would be for extra broccoli and the server said 3.00… Like what?! No thanks… They then begin the entertainment. Our guy was not very funny, he did not do many tricks, and the portions were so small I ate the entire plate and so did my husband and our other friend of ours. Where at SOHO I can eat about half. All in all I thought the place looked dirty and the wait time was way too long. I Definately will pay the extra money and go to SOHO next time!!! Save your money.

Can you say a good lunch deal @ Kabuto’s? We arrived at 12:30 on a Sunday and they still honored their lunch menu. The food was tasty the service was great they do a good job of celebrating birthday’s for a small $ 2 fee, it’s a nice alternative to Bennihana’s. I will be back!

I’ve been to many a hibachi restaurant, and while I don’t strictly consider them(or anything with teriyaki flavor) to be «Japanese,» this place was pretty good. I attended here for a friend’s birthday with a group and we had a great time. The food was good, though service was slow at times. For a Thursday night I think they were busier than expected both by them and my random judgement. I started out waiting for my group at the bar and had a nice chat with the bartender. I like to see what my bartenders like, and she recommended a gin & tonic with a premium brand of gin which I don’t remember. I gave it a shot, and might again in the future. Once the entire group arrived we were ushered into the hibachi area with people from a couple other groups. The hibachi seating section is very open with plenty of grills, but some standard booths/tables were passed off to the side on the way in as well. I can see hope the noise would be loud for people in that area though as the«walls» for that section were fairly open. Once seated we took some time deciding our menu selections, ordered drinks and more. The side salad with my hibachi meal was to have a ginger sauce on it, but it tasted more than a bit of peanut which was surprising. Luckily I’m not allergic. And luckily the friend next to me who is allergic to peanuts didn’t get that sauce. I ordered the Hibachi Combination Dinner with Filet Mignon and Scallops. The show as the chef was cooking was okay. I’ve never been partial to the shows, but it’s good entertainment now and then. This guy had pretty lackluster aim with broccoli though. I asked for the steam medium-rare and that’s what I got. It had a lightly warm center, but clearly was still pink in the middle, not far from what I think is perfect for me. The scallops were cooked a bit long for my tastes. While still tender, I was hoping to avoid«burning» around the edges. I also ordered some hot sake which turned out to be enjoyable(as always.) That’s my $ 0.02 for this place. I would go again with a group, but there are better restaurants to eat individually or with a date.

Moving from San Francisco where there are alot of different restaurants to try, I was all excited coming to Kabuto. Cheddars was good. Longhorn has an excellent 2-fer meals, so why not try the neighboring restaurant. Well, Fridays here are pretty packed. It goes everywhere I guess. But we were hungry so we tried to get a table that was not in the«grill» area. It was a little noisy — i guess because you’re not seeing the action! I ordered sushi and hubby ordered steak. My sushi was awful — the rice was so sticky — it was over powering and seems like they used a different kind of rice! Took them awhile to deliver my additional wasabi too! While hubby’s steak was not so good — chewy and the fried rice was half done! And it was almost mixed in together when served. The overall cleanliness of the place is nothing to get excited about. There were table napkins on the floors and twice the waitress passed by it, and didn’t bother to pick it up. Although their staff are friendly! Will I go back to this place again? I say NO!

Went here for lunch. I had steak and chicken. It was $ 13 and worthy hat price and more. Be sure to add hibachi style noodles for an extra $ 1 to each entrée ordered. From the bar I had the Kabuto special. It was very good. On the salad I had the house dressing which is ginger based, It was good.
