Ludlow Wines

I’m pretty sure if the owners of Ludlow Wines, the first thing they’d do the day after would be show up for work as usual. The place feels like a real labor of love. The owners are very friendly and always willing to recommend a great bottle of wine. It’s a small store so you don’t have a Party Source level of selection, but the wines stocked are good. They are mostly inexpensive.
The Friday night wine tastings are great. It’s four flights of wine or beer for $ 7. The «samples» are pretty close to being full glasses, so you definitely get your money’s worth. We invited some suburban friends to a tasting and they raved about it. The wines are chosen well and the whole vibe is great.
They have a beer selection too. In this day and age, it’s pretty easy to find good beer in Cincinnati, but their beer selection will almost certainly have a beer or two you haven’t heard of, even if you are an aficionado.
I guess most people don’t look for notaries on Unilocal,but if you are… one of the owners is a notary. He notarized a car title for me, and was very friendly and helpful. (I believe it cost about two dollars). Most of the banks on Ludlow don’t seem to have notaries, so if you need one, Ludlow Wines is your place.

Ludlow Wines is the heart of Clifton. As a Realtor, I always suggest to prospective Clifton residents that they visit the shop on a Friday or Saturday night and get a feel for the neighborhood.

Ludlow Wines is a Clifton staple. The UC area isn’t exactly bursting at the seams when it comes to alcohol selection, and that’s especially true for wine. That’s what makes this place such a great little store.
Yes, it is little. Obviously it isn’t the same scale as Party Source or DEP’s, but that’s actually what I love about it. It’s cosy and intimate. The workers here don’t ignore you when you walk in; they approach you and ask you questions about what you’re trying to find. As someone who looks like they could still be in high school, it’s nice being taken seriously and not treated with suspicion every time I walk in the door.
As far as selection goes, they have over 300 different bottles and 100 different craft beers (most of the latter are stored in a fridge). The prices are completely reasonable and you’ll probably struggle to spend $ 30 on a bottle. They also sell a hodgepodge of things like crackers and coffee, though I can’t say I’ve purchased anything from here that wasn’t beer or wine.
While I’ve never been to a tasting here, the place is always packed well past close so they must be doing something right! They also have beer and wine of the month clubs, which would make neat gifts for the wannabe sommeliers in your life.

Wonderful experience as a new Cliftonite… needed a document notarized and was recommended Ludlow Wines by a nearby bank. The notarization process was incredibly efficient *and* the owner suggested a really great and inexpensive bottle of red! I love Ludlow Wines.

I cannot believe I have lived in Clifton so long and have not tried Ludlow Wines!
Ludlow Wines offers wines, beers, and some other beverages like kombucha. A wine or beer flight is currently $ 7. My boyfriend and I tried the wine flight tonight and were impressed. There were generous pours of two white wines (a bubbly and a Chardonnay) and two reds (a Merlot and a Cabernet Sauvignon).
The wines were great and we met a couple of locals who were super friendly.
In addition to meeting your beverage needs, Mike the owner is also a notary public and can notarize documents for you– added bonus!

If you are looking for a cute, relaxing atmosphere, this is the place to come to! Bar none, I would highly recommend this locally, family owned wine establishment. Best $ 7 wine tasting I’ve had with great cheese and crackers.
Mike was very helpful making suggestions of wines based on your preference of red or white. If you are looking for a specific type of wine, Mike will gladly place an order for you. Great place!

A cute little store on Ludlow. If you’re looking for a wine retailer in Clifton this is probably your stop.
I checked this place out last week. The selection seems on the slender side and it’s a bit hard to find what your looking for. I did a couple loops around the store and couldn’t figure out what was where. Seemed like a hodge-​podge. They sorely need to put up some signs for the visual learners (Chardonnay, Cab, etc).
Staff seemed friendly, but only really acknowledged me when I was reaching for the door to leave. By then I was already over it and didn’t want to waste any more time there.

I start just about every weekend at the Ludlow Wines wine tasting. It’s a great little spot — Mike, the owner, is super helpful and friendly, and the wine tasting is a great place to meet up with people after a long week. The price has gone up since I’ve started going (from $ 5 to now $ 7), but I think that is mostly due to all the free cheese and crackers that are consumed by patrons, so it doesn’t bother me too much. The best thing is that you can customize your tasting a bit within the wines they are already serving. Don’t like white wine? Have two glasses of each red, instead. I have done this a few times and the staff is very gracious about it.
There is also a large selection of wines and beers, so if you need to grab a bottle quickly, this is your stop. And Mike is always willing to help you find what you’re looking for!

The beer/​wine tastings hosted by Ludlow Wines on Friday and Saturday nights are always fun and welcoming. They usually serve two whites and two red for wine tasting, and they offer tastings of seasonal beers. It is a great way to discover new wines/​beers and most of the time, the wines in the tasting list are accessible and affordable. The owner is very helpful in terms of recommending wines for the price range I am willing to pay. It is a great little wine shop. I highly recommend it!

There is nothing not to like about this place unless you hate fun and/​or alcohol. If it’s the latter, refer back to hating fun. As many before me have mentioned, it is family owned and they provide a very large selection of wines and a pretty decent selection of craft brews too.
The tastings are the best for $ 6. Pours are generous and they are very accommodating. My parents were visiting from out of town and they do not like red wines. They gladly replaced their pours with more whites. While beer tasting is only Saturdays, I have seen them secretly allow patrons to do it on Fridays as well (shhh, Ludlow secret). Did I mention they give you complimentary cheese and crackers?
In the winter when it is snowy and you do not want to venture far from home, a Friday night wine tasting followed by visiting one of the restaurants on Ludlow is about as good as it gets, and it is pretty good!

I really enjoy this place. Friendly, approachable, plus wine tastings every weekend.
I have been too several of their wine tastings now. They are so laid back and friendly, they really are worth checking out. I love to meet friends and nearly make a night of it.
I also went in for holiday gifts. If you go in with a budget and even just red or white in mind, they can suggest something great for you and wrap it up. Also watch it for really low deals on overstock items.
I’ll be curious to try their craft beer selection next time.

I love this place! Wine/​beer tastings every weekend for $ 6, comes with cheese and crackers. I always get wine and my fiancé gets beer, its perfect and a lot of fun. The owner is the best! He always gives me great recommendations (I know nothing about wine) and I have loved every wine he has sold me. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone.

It’s wine o’clock! Which means it is time to pop over to Ludlow Wines for a little tasting with friends. They offer a $ 6 wine tasting on Friday and Saturday nights (or a beer tasting if you prefer) — this gets you 4 samples and a little bit of cheese and crackers. This is not one of those stuffy wine tastings. It gets pretty crowded and draws a wide variety of people — from grad students to 50-​somethings. The owners are also helpful, and they often have discount bottles of wine for between $ 8 and $ 10.

I love this little wine and beer shop! I was introduced to this place by some ffriends in the area and I am so glad they did! My favorite is the wine (or beer if you don’t want wine) tastings thy have every Friday and Saturday from 5 to 8. So here’s the deal: come on over and for $ 6, SIX DOLLARS, you can get a nice 4 tastings of wine or 5 tastings of beer with cheese and crackers. Mike the owner pairs different groupings of wine each week that are delicious and unique. Make sure you talk to Mike, he is a super interesting guy who also happens to be a notery. The show also has a good selection of wine and beers from all over at affordable prices, and some extraordinary prices that I secretly dream about getting. Most down to earth owner — nice, knowledgeable, but not pretentious at all. He has a wide selection and reasonable prices!
Wine tastings on Fridays and Saturdays — $ 6.00 a flight. They also have a nice selection of beer too.
Bottom line… support your local wine shop!

This place does wonderful Friday and saturday evening wine and beer tastings four generous pours for $ 6! Heck they even provide some cheese and crackers.
We went on a Friday night before dinner and loved every moment. We arrived just after 5p and were one of the first there. We quickly saw a TON of people come in and out whether for tasting or just to carryout some wonderful beer or wine.
Overall the place has a great selection of craft beers. I would say that their beer selection is better than their wine selection as nothing in the wines particularly stood out that couldn’t be obtained at any large supermarket. Still, when able to support a local business, get at it.
Great little spot to meet up with friends and get your weekend started.

Im currently on my first wine of my obligatory Friday night wine tasting. Four healthy pours of different wines for $ 6. Best part– this isn’t even a college bar ($ 6 a flight?! What a bargain). The fulget Albariño is in my glass as I write this review, and I loik it. Wine tastings also held on Saturday.
The owner, Mike, is super helpful and helped me choose a cheaper alternative to an ice wine on this one occasion. In fact, you could have fooled me that it was a nice wine, it tasted so similar… for a fraction of the price. Mike has never been pushy, and loves communicating his passion for wine. He’s the perfect guy to own a shop like this.
Oh and free cheese and crackers as well. Gotta have cheese with that wine. Am I right?!?

I just love this wine shop. The owner, Mike, is an incredibly nice guy. I just walked in one day, sat down at the little bar and he offered me samples of wine and fresh cut cheese and crackers for free! It means a lot when the owner of a place takes the time to chat and offer samples and just be NICE and attentive. They have wine and beer tastings on Friday and Saturday nights, but I have yet to go to one. I’m definitely looking forward to it!
I noticed walking by today that they had a 30−50% sale going on; I have seen several sales over the last few months, so keep on the lookout for a GREAT wine for an amazing price!

Super cute! Ludlow wines recently renovated their store/​moved into a new space. It’s still connected to the old space but now it’s much bigger, brighter and full of life.
Sometimes I think people forget that Clifton is such a cute little entertainment district. This place is great for a wine tasting before a night out, or to stop and pick up a nice bottle to take home.

I have to admit I was really impressed with the options. They had a ton of craft beer and wine that I have not even heard of before and I love that! I love taking a funky bottle to a party to share etc. I even saw some bottle shaped like cats! I could go on and on about this place.
The owners were friendly and helpful during our tasting. One of our friends couldn’t have anything carbonated and they let her switch the champagne for another red and they were more than accommodating. Wine Tastings are held every Friday and Saturday and Beer Tastings are held every Saturday. Both are from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and the cost is only $ 6 bucks for four tastings.
A great little locally owned spot worth checking out!

Prices are comparable to other wine/​liquor stores, and not much more than a discount liquor store.
