I have to say, this place is a solid win for me in both taste and presentation. The menu isn’t extensive, but whether you are a newb to Moroccan or old hat, they have all the favorites. If you are looking for a appetizer, tastiest thing is the hummus, hands down. The pita is served warm and is nothing like the hard, flat pita bread that you find at your nearest grocer’s. Oh no, it is fluffy and flavorful and delivers the hummus into your face on a warm boat of happy. As a vegetarian, I found that there were several items on the menu that would more than satiate. This go around, I opted for the dolma sandwich. Grape leaves and tzatziki sauce with some extra veggies thrown into another one of those magical pitas. I really enjoyed this flavorful sandwich, with no spice or flavor overpowering any other. It was the zen of pita sandwiches. I have had grape leaves served both warm and cold, and while this option was delicious cold, I was curious if it would be as tasty as a hot sandwich option(this was not an available option on the menu, but I also did not inquire if it could be). The shop itself is a remarkable shade of orange. I definitely felt like I had been dropped into the Tropicana bottle. The service was prompt and our waitress was very quick. It isn’t a fancy spot, but more like an express dining café. There are several tables, but I imagine at peak times those fill up quickly, so try to get there early or after the mad rush of Clifton college kids. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Greek/Mediterranean food or those who want to dip their toe into a different kind of cuisine. It is a great place to try new tastes for your palate and I like forward to returning to experience the vegetarian Moroccan cous cous.

I went there yesterday for dinner, and today for lunch. As a Middle Eastern living in Cincinnati you kinda have a hard time finding a good place for our soul food haha. I had the kabob entre, and must say reminded me of home. The Moroccan tea is a must have for myself, absolutely love it. Today I had falafel as a side, and chicken shawarma as well as fries. Loved it. They make the most of what they got, and definitely a place I’ll be stopping by more often.

Not a posh place, but the food is good. I’d rather give 3 ½ stars but 3 isn’t enough. We had baba ganoujh which was tasty. I had the lamb kebab which was definitely enough food for the price. My wife had the lamb shank(whatever it was called) and it was tender and tasty as advertised. The flavors from that part of the world are a little different but an interesting change from the ordinary. We each had a piece of baklava; the BIGGEST piece we’d ever had. Order one and split it. My wife LOVED the hot tea. Service was attentive, friendly, and efficient, even as it got more crowded. We spent about $ 46(before tip) for an appetizer, two dinners, two pieces of baklava, coffee and tea. Worth a try.

I had been wanting to try Marrakech for awhile before I finally made the trip. Last night I decided to stop in for dinner and j was so glad I did. This place has a bit of a diner vibe, which I thought was kind of funny but not entirely out of place. The walls are bright orange and the tables have black numbers stapled above them. There’s also some fabric draped on the walls and ceiling near the window, which was more of a unique touch. The food here is a mixture of Moroccan and Mediterranean, with all of it being halal. There’s three vegetarian entrees and a ton of vegetarian appetizers too. I ordered the vegetable couscous and my friend ordered a falafel wrap. The couscous was definitely one if the better rice/rice-like dishes I’ve had at a Mediterranean place. The couscous was a gorgeous yellow color and came topped with chickpeas, carrots, and eggplant amount other things. The vegetables were soft without being mushy, though I wish there was more heat to the dish. I wish I could have eaten more of it, but my friend is an avid red onion hater and the falafel pita came smothered in red onions. Thus, we ended up switching and I ate most of the falafel. I like onions and even I thought they were overpowering, plus the falafel itself was a tad underdone. Bummer. The waitress we had was super polite and helpful, so high marks there. Overall I’m probably going to be headed back at some point, either to sink my teeth into some fresh hummus or get another plate of awesome couscous!

Food was good, but I can only give three stars because the service was lacking! We went for lunch, so hopefully the service is better at dinner!

Came in with a groupon deal and been wanting to try this place out. A very small staff(I believe the night I went in there was about 2 people working), but definitely they make you feel like your at home. The vibe of the restaurant gives off«home cooked meal» feel. It’s like they are welcoming you to their home and feeding you their ethnic dishes. Our server was patient to explain the different things on the menu and answered our questions enthusiastically. Explaining the dishes reason of specialty and probably was feeding off of us because we wanted to learn about this region’s style of food and how its cooked. We got the Chicken Tajine and Kabobs. The Chicken Tajine’s meat was so soft it fell of the bone! Very savory and spices were not overpowering. The Kabobs were good as well, and weren’t dry at all. Overall, great place to eat and learn! Loved it.

This place is a find! The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We ordered the lamb tangine and the chicken tangine. I suggest you order them with everything that you can get in them. For the chicken tangine, for example, I got olives and Lemon plus vegetables. The lamb tangible was richer but the chicken was really good too. Both meats were moist and flavorful. And for about $ 12 you get a big portion, plus a nice salad and rice or bread. You can’t beat that! The Moroccan tea was good but it’s pre-sweetened. We went on a quiet weeknight. The clientele that night were speaking Arabic so you know it’s authentic, and the waiter was super friendly and helpful. We felt totally welcomed(I suspect that the clientele is more varied on a busy night). The only negative is the atmosphere — it’s bright orange and brightly lit. It’s not a fancy place. Other than that it’s a winner!

I can’t believe I’ve been at UC for almost 5 years and didn’t know about this place! Was craving some fresh hummus and pita and this place was exactly what I had in mind. I also ordered the chicken platter — the chicken was super flavorful, juicy, and cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the side of rice and vegetables as well. We also ordered the falafel appetizer which paired perfectly with the hummus and pita. The baklava was a little different from what I had expected, but still very authentic and the perfect amount of sweetness. Definitely making this place my go-to dinner spot, you must stop by if you’re around!

I’ve reviewed them before and after ordering a quick lunch today needed to add something else. That was the best falafel sandwich I have ever enjoyed. The perfect balance of flavoring, tahini dressing, and crunchy vegetables. Perfectly cooked. And very reasonably priced. This will be my new go-to for a quick, satisfying and healthy vegetarian lunch.

Baba Ganouj was mouth watering, Lamb Tajine was delicious, Chicken Tajine was good enough but Couscous with veggies was a little disappointing. Do try the Moroccan Tea with mint Service is very fast and good.

Get the Lamb Tajine! Pick this and you won’t go wrong with your choice! Fall off the bone meat. Best sign of good Tajine! Falafels are alright. Good mint tea. But get it without sugar!!!

My husband and I were on a hunt for someplace different that we’d never eaten at. So, because of a certificate, we decided to give Marrakech a try. And I’m super glad we did! We ended up going 3 times in one week because the food is excellent!!! It’s a small place, but the décor is awesome. Between the two of us, we were able to try the excellent harira soup, all of the appetizers(which were to die for), the merguez and gyro sandwiches, and the entrees bastilla, lamb tajine, lamb kabab and couscous with lamb. I was thoroughly impressed with all of the food. The lamb in each dish was cooked perfectly. The bastilla sounds weird when you read the ingredients… it’s like a chicken potpie with eggs, onions, herbs, cinnamon, honey and dusted with powdered sugar. But the flavors marry so well together. It was fabulous! My husband had the lamb tajine with prunes and onions. It was RIDICULOUSLY good! Everything is made fresh, from scratch, in their kitchen. The Moroccan tea with mint is so refreshing. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Marrakech has really surprised me in the couple of visits I have made to this restaurant. I will be the first to say that I typically am not the biggest lover of middle eastern and Mediterranean food because it just typically doesn’t wow me, but Marrakech is an exception, I thought about writing this review in a typical format, going over a couple of visits, but I think I’m going to go with a bullet point type of post. Here is why your should give Marrakech a try– 1) The Falafel is so crisp, spicy and never dry. Usually I think most falafel is bland and the texture can be unappealing but that is not the case here. This golden little nuggets of deliciousness are worth giving a try either as an appetizer or, even better, with a pita sandwich. When mixed with the pita, some fresh veggies and sauce they make for a wonderful lunch. 2)The Bastilla is one of the most unforgettable tastes I have experienced in quite a while. It is the perfect combination of savory and sweet. It is a light and flaky pie, layered with chicken, eggs, crushed almonds and topped with a dusting of powdered sugar and cinnamon. The combination is mind-blowingly delicious and the chicken is so nice and tender. I could eat one of these perhaps every day if that was a possibility! 3) Both the couscous and tajine dishes were very flavorful and came out piping hot. Portion sizes on these dishes were also VERY large and for the price($ 10.99 for chicken & $ 12.99 for lamb) it is unbeatable. However, it should be noted as mentioned in other reviews that the service can be quite spotty. I have found things to be best when it is not one of the peak business times. However, overall I have never really had much of an issue with the service.

This is going to be my «pre-review» as I didn’t get to sit down at this place and get the full experience. I was in a huge rush, craving a gyro all day, and decided to rush in and get one. The place was completely empty, but it was also 4PM on a weekday. So it’s not surprise I had super fast service. My gyro was delicious and a nice size. I was full and happy :) While I waited I read through their menu and it looks delicious so I definitely plan to go back!

My boyfriend and I went to Marrakech for lunch on a late Saturday afternoon. There were three other tables besides us, and only one server covering all of them, so getting our drinks, order, and food were a little delayed. We were on a time crunch, but I felt bad and could tell he was trying to be attentive to each table, running back and forth from the kitchen to the customers. We ordered the chicken tajine/tagine and a gyro. They were moderately priced(around $ 18 together including tax), but Moroccan food is hard to come by in Cincinnati so I didn’t mind. They also looked like they sold homemade snacks like baklava behind the counter, but we didn’t have time to try it. The gyro was excellent, but I’m sorry to say that I didn’t like the tajine very much. It was dry and lacked flavor, but it came with a couple of small sides that were good. This is a good place to try something new or pick up a gyro, but I’m not sure I would order the chicken again.

Feeling like trying something new? Marrakech serves Moroccan food in a chill, no-frills atmosphere. I had the Chicken couscous while my friend had a lamb kebab. The food was satisfactory and filling(big portions!), but lacked some flavor. If I ever go back I’d give the hummus a try– maybe better to stick to the staples! The mint tea is well worth ordering if you’re craving something warm. Extra plus– it comes in a fun printed glass! Overall this place is alright if you’re in Clifton and looking to try something new, but it’s not worth a special trip.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch to try out the new restaurant. We started with a soup and salad that we shared and then each ordered pita sandwiches. She also ordered mint tea. The Tabouli salad was good but seemed a little sweet as if they added sugar to it. It tasted great otherwise but the sweetness was the one thing I didn’t like since I have eaten tabouli a bunch of times and never noticed this sweetness before. Harira was the soup we ordered and while I liked the combination of spices it was definitely lacking salt. After I added some salt, we both agreed that the harira would be a great fall and winter soup with all those wonderful spices(including cinnamon) warming you up when it’s cold outside. For sandwiches, my wife ordered the Kefta and I ordered the Lamb Kabab. The kefta is spiced ground beef that is grilled and while it tasted good it was somewhat burnt. Initially when we tasted it we liked the charred taste but it was a little too much after a couple bites. This would be an excellent sandwich if the meat was not so burnt(but a little bit charred would be great). The lamb kabab sandwich was very tasty because it was basically just grilled lamb cubes. It could have used a little more sauce but overall very tasty. As a dessert we shared a plate of Chabakia. They are fried cookies made of sesame which are coated in honey. I liked these and would eat them again. They were not too sweet which is what I like in a cookie or dessert. I gave Marrakech two stars but if I could give half stars I would have given them two and a half stars. I liked the idea of all the food but I just thought there seemed to be a small problem with the execution of almost every dish. They had some good sounding dishes for entrees like tajine. Maybe we will return at some point to try some more options. I like Moroccan food and would enjoy this restaurant with a little bit of improvement.

I am so impressed with this place and will definitely become a regular. I ordered the couscous with lamb. I expected the dish to be composed of couscous with some small cuts of lamb on top, but instead got a beautiful huge leg of lamb. All that for like $ 12! It clearly had been stewed in spices for hours because the meat was so flavorful and tender. The couscous was perfectly spiced as well. My husband ordered the Bastilla, which was a really interesting sweet and savory potpie like dish composed of stewed chicken, eggs, flakey pastry dough i believe, and almonds, cinnamon and powdered sugar on top. It sounded like an odd combo, but trust me it was heavenly. If you like a little sweet and savory in your food, you will love this! My husband said it was the best thing he has ever ordered in a restaurant. Plus it was only $ 9.99!!! My mother in law had a greek salad and was very pleased with it. She said the dressing was perfect. We also shared an almond pastry that I can’t remember the name of. It was covered in flakey dough and triangular shaped. It was a nice alternative to a typical piece of baklava. I can’t wait to return!

Marrakech just opened right in the heart of the gaslight district on ludlow. They serve everything from gyros, sandwiches, couscous to more authentic Moroccan Tajine dishes! We took our for carry out and everything was delicious!
