This place is awesome. We ordered small dipped cones and they were huge and perfect. I want to try all of the iced creams but I can picture myself getting the butterscotch dipped cone many 100’s of times. Either way is good with me.

A little slice of Americana on Hamilton Avenue! No scenery to be had here, just the bustle of the busy street, a few tall trees, and grass patches with picnic tables. I have been going here since I was a little girl(back then I ordered a Snowman) and whenever I get a craving for soft serve this is all that I want. They offer some food, just the usual ice cream stand fair like coneys, nachos, and soft pretzels. None of that is very impressive. The ice cream treats and the soft serve is where it’s at. My favorites are the Glacier, which is a slushy with soft serve piled high in the center and whipped cream or a PFC Sundae, which is pecans, fudge, and chocolate sauce. I also love the flavor burst ice creams, which are vanilla soft serve with an intensely flavored stripe on the sides or the monthly frozen yogurt flavor. They also offer lots of other frozen treats like milkshakes, flurries, slushies, and banana splits. They also have recently brought out a «Blue Ice Cream,» which is a dupe for the King’s Island’s Smurf Ice Cream. A little additional info: they are CASHONLY. Also, as far as I have seen they are pet friendly since it is a walk up stand. Along with being a walk-up stand they are only open seasonally. They usually open sometime in March or later and seem to close around September. There is a drive thru, but the lines can get long and don’t go very fast. It is a pretty busy area of that street and it is also next to a funeral home, so if there is a service there can be more traffic in the parking lot, which is something to keep in mind if you are bringing rambunctious little ones.

Whatever brand machine/mix they use for their soft serve really makes their soft serve outstanding. Very creamy and thick. It’s better then I’ve had at any other around. Wish they took check/credit cards. It’s 2015.

It’s just good soft serve at the Mount healthy dairy bar. There’s a place down the street closer to me who’s soft serve doesn’t even compare to their ice cream. The Mount healthy dairy bars Softserve is actually creamy. I love it.

Only gave it 4 stars because it requires CASH to go there but that’s really only an inconvenience. The cones are large and delicious. The ice cream is good. The chocolate is chocolaty which I like. The entrance is on the street next to the building the other driveway is an exit only. Enjoy!

I don’t crave ice cream often and — to be completely honest — I think that most parlors are the same. That is until the Mt. Healthy Dairy Bar comes into the conversation. I grew up frequenting this stand situated on the bustling Hamilton Avenue. The surrounding businesses aren’t what one would call welcoming, but somehow it works. From its standard ice cream cones to flurries, shakes, blizzards and dip tops, there are more than enough options to satisfy even the most discerning ice cream connoisseur. The Dairy Bar even recently started making and selling a Blueberry/Blue Raspberry soft serve that is reminiscent of the famous Smurf ice cream from Kings Island. And, well, if you’re not in the mood to pay a $ 40 entry to KI, the Dairy Bar is a fantastic alternative. While the ice cream selection may be expansive enough, there are also plenty of food items as well for a quick bite before indulging in a sweet treat finale. I typically opt for either a small chocolate/vanilla swirl cone with chocolate sprinkles or a chocolate milkshake made with chocolate/vanilla swirl ice cream. I recently ordered the latter and, boy, I may never get the former again. The milkshake was outstanding. In fact, I’m craving one now. And if the Dairy Bar can bring me to crave ice cream, it has to be great.

The Mt Healthy Dairy Bar offers pretty standard ice cream stand fare, but just done a little better. The Dairy Bar has a small menu of actual food items. I ordered the foot long chili dog with mustard and onions. The dog featured Cincinnati style chili which was pretty standard, not great not bad, just okay. If you’re looking for chili dogs I would suggest going to a Cincinnati favorite like Skyline. Soft-serve ice cream treats are the real focus of this roadside stand. They have a wide array of shakes, freezes, flurries and cones. The ice cream items remind me of similar Dairy Queen huts I used to go to as a kid. This place is definitely good for hot days where cold soft serve is a must.

Listen to these words and listen carefully: the best milkshake of my life. Doubtful? So was I. This was a tiny stand in the middle of nowhere, on a road filled with car dealerships and laundromats. The shop was nothing to look at — an old, small wooden building with its specials panted along the walls(MALTS! SHAKES!) It also served barbeque, which made me leery. What kind of ice cream hut serves BBQ? That’s just not right. Still, I had just had a delicious dinner out and was looking for dessert. This place seemed as good as any. I walked up and peered at the menu of items. I was dumbfounded. They had these items with prices but absolutely no description. What the hell is a «Snowman?» What’s an «Avalanche?» It’s like they went through The Big Book of Winter and just choose words at random. I bet if I ordered a «Frozen Tundra,» or «Deadly Icicle,» I would have gotten some sort of ice cream dish.(Note to self: Don’t get the Deadly Icicle. It does not sound delicious). I placed my order with the teenage girl at the window for one medium vanilla shake. The tiny blonde glared at me, snatched my money and shut the glass. Perhaps she was angry from serving too much BBQ, I did not know. However, about five minutes later she handed me my shake. And oh, what a shake. Creamy, delicious, cold vanilla ice cream mixed in with fresh, wonderful milk. The shake was not too cold or too warm — easy to hold but still delightfully chilly. There were little bits of ice cream throughout the cup, so every sip became a drink and a frozen treat. It was the perfect amount too — I finished just as I was starting to get that overfilled dessert sleepiness. And not an ice cream headache to be found! I’m almost convinced this stand doesn’t really exist. If I traveled back there now, I’d find only the burned down remains of a small building and an old man who’d say, «What? Oh no, the Mt. Healthy Dairy Bar burned down in the great fire of ’52. There hasn’t been an ice cream stand here for 50 years.» And I’d be haunted forever for the taste of that milkshake. That damn, delicious milkshake.
