Steak ‘n Shake

Not the worst Steak ‘n Shake in Cincinnati but man they try hard to be at times! Waited in the drive thru for awhile, ordered 4 shooters and requested for no cheese with a number 15 and large fry… Well only got 2 shooters both with cheese with a large fry and some steak burger with the most random toppings, with a receipt that looked like it was printed off by an epileptic printer.

Lower your expectations and you’ll be fine. The food is tasty and cheap, but the place is pretty dirty and the service is lacking, to say the least. When we were here, the smoke alarm battery was dying, making a whistle noise every 2 – 3 minutes. When the staff was asked about it, they acted like there was nothing they could do about it. We were ready to get out of there, but stood at the counter for about 5 minutes before any one would help us pay out. Now I remember why we only go here about once a year.

This location does NOT use ice cream in their milkshakes. They use «shake base,» so their shakes are of the McDonald’s quality. Not good.
How is it that a place with «Shake» as part of their name uses shake base and not real ice cream in their milkshakes?

We always hit this up after church & have been continuously disappointed with the drive thru times. Nothing special ordered– no milkshakes, just fries, burger & hotdog. Today– pulled in– no wait!!! Oh– hang on– they are stacking cars off to side to «help improve their wait times» in the drive thru.
We’ll be finding a new place.

Took about five minutes to be seated, not because there were no clean tables, but the waitress was scraping food from plates into a trash can, which I understand, but I do wish she would have washed her hands.
It took fifteen minutes for her to come ask what we wanted to drink. The restaurant is not very busy.
Food came fairly quickly.
We ordered cajun fries, she brought regular fries. Took five minutes to see her again, flag her down and ask for cajun fries. She takes my plate, brings back fries with the Steak and Shake table seasoning dumped all over them; clumpy.
My husband and I shared the Frisco burger and fries. Frisco burger was good. It wasn’t hot, but warm. Pretty good. Wouldn’t return to this location.

This is a regular Sunday stop after church. We receive great service AND a big plus is kids eat free on the weekends.

The night staff is awesome. I had a very difficult order and not only did they get it right, but they did it in the most convenient and inexpensive way. I will definitely be coming here again not just for the food, but for the great customer service!

I’ve been to this one a few times. It’s always an interesting story. This time; the girl greeted us in between cursing at another staff. She was our waitress. She was smoking outside, and through the window, was staring at my boyfriend. And before any food arrived, she dropped off the bill and told us we should always ask our servers to give us the bill after they punched in the food??? … i’ve never heard of that and I’ve waitressed for a while in the past. When she dropped off the food, that’s literally what she did … drop it off and left … didn’t say a word and didn’t ask if we needed anything. She checked on us sometime after that, and my boyfriend looked at me and said «we gotta stop comin here … »

Was at this location this past Thanksgiving and after the turkey and trimmings… burger and fries are going to taste good…“my Whimpy from Popeye voice coming out”

2^nd time here first time was slow service this time same thing only 3 other tables but service still slow food was fair at best thought burger would have been hot but I was wrong I will just have to remember not to stop at this location again all other steak and shakes have been good

I have been coming to this Steak n Shake for a year now and last night was the last straw. Our waiter, who was probably no older than 15 or 16, was named Evan. He walked up to our table, and when we ordered extra cheese, he said, «Wow you’re going to have some trouble in the bathroom tomorrow.»
First off, I’m not easily offended or grossed out. But some things never belong at the dinner table. Pooping and constipation are two things that should never come to the table. Especially from the guy bringing our food.
Our whole table fell silent. My guests were horrified, and I was completely embarrassed for even suggesting this place. We spent the rest of the meal in silence, and I personally was a little grossed out by the cheese when it arrived.
Evan was completely disrespectful and is a humiliation to this establishment. I recommend passing this place by when you want a shake. The shakes are great, but who knows what they’ve done to them when their waiters are mentioning poop to their consumers. Disgusting.

I really can not stand when a server is inattentive. I really can’t stand when a server comes to my table reaking of cigarette smoke.yuck. Below average service for below average food. Won’t be back.

Service was a little slow, but very friendly! Great diner/​greasy-​spoon food. Love the burger and fries and milkshakes!

Good food for when you have been imbibing. I recommend the cheese fries!

Steak and shake ridge has a bad habbit of putting cheese on burgers… now some people love cheese on a burger but I dont like it on the steak burger cause it drowns the flavor of the meat in cheese. sometimes you ask for no sauce or sauce on the side with frisco melt and they put it on… so they follow the numbers and dont always pay attention to special orders… other than that they are a little slow in service at But the food is great… so patience and check your order

I have usually always have had bad experiences with Steak N Shake so I wasn’t too happy about coming here. But we was greeted by a smiling face who seated us quickly name is Jane and she was very attentive to the table that I will return.

This location is consistently slow for both the drive thru and dining in, and has a poor track record for order accuracy. If it weren’t such an enticing and conveniently close fourth meal, I’d be over it.

Shake & Steak has been up and down over the years and now I think they’re on their way back up. Not too long ago they even lowered their prices and have some great lunch specials. This location is also open 24hrs, which makes for a nice alternative to the other food places. Their iced tea is pretty good too… and I do concur with Rachel about the service, not sure what is up with that.

The servers at this Steak N Shake are always friendly. I go there very often, as evidenced by the fact that many of the servers recognize me, and have had nothing but positive experiences. I am not quite sure why the other reviewers had such negative experiences because the service has always been great when I have gone. I hope that people will give it a chance. I mean, how could you not give a restaurant a chance that serves cheese sauce!!!

I just don’t know what it is about this place…
It’s really hit or miss on the service. The food, as always, is decent. It’s fresh, they don’t really screw it up, it’s typical Steak n Shake fare.
The people here. are just… out of it? off beat? I’m not really sure. I mean don’t get me wrong, most are friendly. Most just seem like they don’t care. Mainly the management. The last time I was in here, one poor guy was having an issue with the register with a line backing up like crazy, so another one finally stepped in to help on the other one, and the manager brings the phone to him and tells him to take an order over the phone, looking at the line in almost disgust then walking away to the very back of the place. Not to help, nothing. There were plenty of people working that night too for not as many patrons.
And the riff raff/​drunks that tend to hang out around the area aren’t the greatest. But like I said it’s hit or miss. The food is good.
