The Wich is a great lunch spot. Yes, the service is a bit slow from 11:30 — 12:45 but when you make sandwiches from scratch, it takes time. When I say scratch, I don’t mean grabbing bread from a drawer and meat from a cooler– they slice your meats and cheeses from their own roasted beef, house seasoned turkey, chicken, etc. as you order it. If you want speed, go to one of the 5 Subways nearby or get there at 11:20 like I do. As for what to order — never had a bad sandwich, but I’ll recommend the New England Roast Beef, The Wich Club or Southwest Chicken. All three come with any free side but there really is only one in my book — Pecan Cranberry Coleslaw. Fantastic. You will not leave hungry or disappointed.

Not the type of place I’d want to eat in. Carry out would be better. Mixed up a simple breakfast order when the cashier shouted it to the guy preparing the food but he wandered off before hearing the details. If there is any management involvement in this operation it certainly wasn’t evident.

Slow slow slow. Only come here if you have the time to wait 20 minutes for a sandwich or salad, and no sensitivity to over-priced sandwiches and salads. There seems to be no logic in the order food is prepared and served after paying. I routinely receive my sandwich after others several places behind me in line, or I might receive my order before those who ordered ahead of me. Fellow patrons often look at each other and shake their heads, trying to figure out the rhyme or reason behind the random, illogical order of delivering food. Also, while other run of the mill restaurants(as well as all upscale establishments I have dined in) downtown offer tap water free of charge, the wich chooses to nickle and dime you, charging 30 cents. Try it, you may like it. But make sure you have ample time to wait and a hefty wallet.

Great sandwiches and large menu. Lunch crowd can be a bit large and can take a little patience to ace your order. Imo, best sandwich place in Cinci.

I’m a hero at my office today! I ordered assorted sandwich platters, sides and an Arugula Salad and everyone raved. It was delivered, by Elliot, himself, to our office. He came early and he brought everything we needed to set up. The sandwiches were excellent but the sides(curried egg salad, pecan cranberry slaw and spiced fruit were just outstanding. I ordered 2 sandwich platters, and 1 Arugula salad for 15 people. Everyone ate their fill and we still have leftovers.

The line is usually long, but the service is quick. I like the fresh ingredients and variety of options. I’m glad that they are located close to my workplace, as it makes for a nice, quick lunch!

Shocked on the sour reviews. I thought it was pretty good. Only issue is the seating setup is pretty bad– especially with the high volume of people waiting to pick up their order. I had the Reuben salad– healthy right? Haha. It was delicious. Highly recommend it. Got a side dish that was perfect– but can’t recall what it was called– crunchy cucumber cous cous salad maybe? Either way it was delicious. Will come back, but probably take it to go. It’s almost St Pattys– go get that healthy Reuben salad today!

It is great quality of food, delicious, hearty and flavorful. The best part is they are convenient. Unfortunately you must check your order before you leave, be prepared to wait obnoxiously long, they have a poor system of how orders go out and the new cashiers have not a clue how to properly ring it up. If you are willing to deal with the annoyance’s and have an extra half hour to wait you will get a decent meal.

I’ll start by saying I would give a much higher rating if The Wich would learn a thing or two about customer service. The friendliness of the staff is fine, but having to wait 20 minutes for a salad, bowl of soup, and/or sandwich is simply unacceptable. I’m sad they constantly disappoint me with their wait times, but luckily for them, nothing can keep me away from that Arugula Salad. Those FIGS. My gosh, they’re glorious. I also frequently order the Club Sandwich, which has a generous portion of REAL turkey(not the skimpy deli turkey most places serve) and muenster cheese — HOLYYUM. I recommend visiting when they have the Portobello Bisque… you won’t be mad.

I’ve never had a bad meal here. The tuna salad ‘wich is a favorite! Can’t go wrong! It’s always clean and the owner is always polite(as well as other workers). They even deliver just one sandwich to my office which is convenient on really busy days!

After waiting over 45 min. for a sandwich to go, I asked for a refund because it was way too long for a lunch carry-out order. As the cashier was getting my refund, the owner called my number. I told him I was refunding my money because I had to get back to work. What did he do??? He had the audacity to take my ordered food and throw it away in the trash can — no apologies for the wait, no offering to give me the food anyway, not even an «ok I’ll keep the food and give it to the homeless». What a waste. The stranger next to me who was waiting that long as well couldn’t believe it either and explained how that was a bad move on his part — you think? Service is usually sub-par but today was ridiculous and the lack of empathy for his waiting customers questions his sincerity in owning a business.

Disappointment. The service was good but the food missed the mark. We had lunch on a weekday and it was about 50% filled with customers. It was unusually warm in the entire seating area so that caused a damper. The ordering process was great. It was my first time and I had a lot of questions. The lady taking my order was very enthusiastic about the options, specials, etc. Everyone behind the bar was working very hard and fast too. It’s clear they value customer service. I couldn’t finish the Roasted Beef Sandwich because the roasted beef was too chewy and had a lot of fat on the cut. It was greasier than I’d like too. I was really surprised that the bun tasted slightly stale; not terrible but not great. The Turkey Noodle Soup was good. Nothing extraordinary but good nonetheless. On the plus side, I liked the Westminster Oyster Crackers. I’d like to give ‘Wich another visit because I suspect my bad meal was an exception.

Good for a quick but yummy weekday lunch. They have some interesting sandwich combinations and offer gluten free bread. My only complaint was that the eggplant on my sandwich had its peel making it super difficult to bite but it was nonetheless tasty. They have good side choices and it makes for a cheap and quick lunch when you don’t have a lot of time and don’t want a $ 15 lunch.

I want to like this place. I really do. The catering I’ve had has been alright, however every single time I try to order a meal there, it’s been terrible. Today, instead of a BLT salad(which sounds delicious, by the way,) I received a BLT sandwich with no mayonnaise and about 8 strips of bacon. If I weren’t in a meeting I would’ve marched it right back down to the restaurant. It was disgusting. In another instance, I ordered the chicken Caesar salad, which only included the white hard heart of an iceburg lettuce head that had been chopped, already tossed in some kind of oil/vinegar dressing(not caesar dressing.) Also gross. I don’t know why my company continues to order from this place, they clearly have no concept of how to take an order. Skip if you can.

I love this place. A little pricey, but worth it for the quality of food. The only thing I’ve not liked there was the Beef & Mushroom Barley soup. It tasted like an ashy fireplace. I have no idea how they accomplished that.

Paying for a sandwich I could easily make myself is one of those things that will never fail to give me heartburn… …which is probably why I’ve only been to ‘wich on Sycamore twice, despite working a few steps away. That’s saying something, considering how lovely the snowstorms have been this winter and how convenient it is to duck in here. Honestly, if you forgot to pack your own sandwich today, by all means, this place will get you what you need. No secret ingredient you don’t already have in your pantry at home. Service is quick, and you’ll be out of there in no time. Go for the sandwich, not the salads. I’m pretty sure they freeze all their salads(at least the greens) and then throw on the fixings when you order, so not sure it’s exactly«fresh.» I know this because my coworker ordered one and opened it to find it was missing chicken(a.k.a. it was just a bed of foliage).

I heard about the ‘Wich from a few co-workers and made it down to Sycamore yesterday for lunch, I tried the Southwestern Chicken, I love a sandwich with a kick. My order was taken promptly when I arrived and it was ready a few minutes later. The sandwich was served warm and had a good flavor and I tried side of edamame wheat berry salad. The sourdough could have had more consistency to it, it seemed more like a regular bun than the chewiness of sourdough bread. They do have a wide variety of sandwiches, salads and sides, I would return to try another or sandwich at some time.

Jury duty this week hasn’t been all bad. Well the sitting around in the courthouse has been pretty bad, but because of the jury duty I’ve been able to sample some downtown eateries that I otherwise wouldn’t visit. First up is The ‘Wich on Sycamore, previously known as Wicked ‘Wich. I met my wife there on Monday afternoon for lunch. Though it was my first visit, she is a regular lunch time customer since her office is a block away. We arrived a little before 1pm and found no line to order. From what I’m told this is a rarity, as the line is often out the door at lunch time. If you are a downtown worker, it may be a good idea to wait a little later to take your lunch if you don’t feel like waiting in line. The menu is written along the back wall and consists of a large number of salads and sandwiches that are all prepared fresh. Orders are placed at the counter and your name is called out when your food is ready. After staring at the menu for some time I eventually decided on the pecan chicken salad sandwich — chicken, pecans, celery, green onion, apple, and tarragon yogurt-mayo served on butter toasted honey wheat bread($ 7.79). The sandwich comes with a choice of one side dish, I chose the pecan cranberry slaw. Both the sandwich and the coleslaw were really good. I’m a big fan of chicken salad and I have to say that this was one of my favorites in the city. My wife ordered the special of the day, which was some sort of ham sandwich. I believe it had Muenster cheese on it as well as their horseradish sauce and was served on the multi-grain baguette. I just had a small bite of the sandwich, but again I felt it was really good. On the side she ordered the spiced fruit cup, which adds a nice little kick to the otherwise standard fruit cup. The only complaint I would have is that the serving size is a tad small, thus the price is a little high for what you are served. However the quality of food is excellent and it is all very well prepared. I would definitely go back.

Which witch is which for sandwich shops? … hopefully, some other one. Ok, that might have been too harsh — this place was fine. However, I had heard rave reviews of this neat new witch themed restaurant with excellent sandwiches in the middle of downtown. Both, though, were disappointing. A magical experience this was not. Walking in, it felt like someone had cast a spell to combine two horrible things — this was a little bit Subway and a little bit those Halloween stores that pop up everywhere in October, and neither was great. Sure, some parts were cute(like the time the store was open and closed was labeled as «The Witching Hours,») but most of it was overdone. Did we really need candelabra hanging above the stainless steel Ikea-esq counter? What about the horrifying witch mural in the seating area that was stolen right out of Panera. I say nay. The people behind the counter were very friendly and took my order with a smile — although I did expect a «witch» pun to come out of their mouths at any moment. Something like, «Welcome to Wicked-wich, where we don’t have any brooms or we’d just fly off the handle,» or, «Our food is so good, they’re prepared by license professionals. What would you like our witch doctor to make you today?» I can’t tell if I was depressed or relieved that they didn’t say these things. This place does have free WiFi, though. That’s a major plus right there. I got the Reuben sandwich and it was just ok — it had all the trimmings of a Reuben, but none of the flair. It was just kin of bland. Plus, it was very very small. Plus, they didn’t even cut it half. Plus it was like $ 7 and all you got was a tiny side(you can get chips. I picked the berry coleslaw, which was pretty good). My girlfriend got a salad with chicken and I tried it — same deal. Good, nothing amazing and overpriced. Unless some radical changes happen, this will not be my sandwich spot of choice — no matter how many black cats cross my path or toads I get turned into. Ps. Why was the witch kicked out of witching school? Because she flunked spelling!
