Walts used to be the best. best ribs, smoked turkey, smoked wings Wings were best value big size 10 wing on top of nacho chips 50% off eat in or take out. Now terrible every thing is dry and over cooked and I have tried all 3 items several time all ways the same for past 2 years. I kept going back because they used to be so great, no more done with this place. Goodbye Walt’s hello Eli’s and pit to plate

It was good value(only $ 13 for meal and a beer), and their sauce was great. I got the pulled pork sandwich and was disappointed at the amount of fat cuts that were included. I ended up discarding half the meat because it was pure fat and essentially had a bread sandwich with bbq sauce.

Great pulled pork. I thought the brisket was good even though other people say it’s dry. Great cornbread. Kids love the mac-n-cheese. Haven’t had the ribs. Good price. Fun atmosphere.

Bee bee cue! As a first time visitor, I didn’t know what to expect. Yes, I love some good barbecue — chicken, ribs, pork, brisket(mouth is watering). I visited with a few regulars who knew the menu. I was told what’s good. I went with my gut(literally) and ordered the pulled pork. You could top it with hot or regular barbecue sauce. I used a ton of the hot — I like my food to bite back! I sided it up with mac n’ cheese, sweet potato casserole, and cornbread. The sweet potato casserole was out of this world! Basically, Walt’s is great for some barbecue and home-cooking. No complaints, just a really full belly. I’d call myself a pig, but that’d be weird.

Not as good as I expected, but still tasty. I missed the smoky flavor in the meat. The BBQ sauces were just ok, too sweet, not enough heat for me. Brisket & ribs were somewhat dry, not juicy as expected. Rubs were tough. Portion sizes we’re large. Definitely not a place I’d crave, but might stop in again someday.

I have been going to Walt’s now for a few years and their ribs have always been one of my favorites. My family and I just went their tonight and got 3 full slab rib dinners for carry out. When we got home and opened them up, they looked good, smelled good, but tasted nothing like they used to. They were tough and dry with little rub on them. I don’t know if this was just an oversight this time or if it has become common practice for them but the ribs still had the silver skin on the back of them. BIGNONO for smoked ribs. That membrane keeps smoke from permeating the ribs as well as makes them tough. I will never go back to Walt’s and it pains me to say that because was always a huge fan and advocate for Walt’s. Looks like I’ll just be smoking my own ribs from now on.

Love this place! It’s pure Americana, down home, honest to goodness, stick to your ribs QUE! I had both brisket and a spicy Texas style sausage. WOW! That meat is done right! It freekin’ falls apart it’s so tender and the flavor is amazing! I love BBQ brisket and when I lived in North Carolina I got to try some of the best available. I’d drive out into the hills on a country road just off route 40 and see a thin pillar of smoke rising up into the sky in the distance somewhere between Winston Salem and Hickory. A couple of minutes later was a little tin shack and some picnic tables on a patch of gravel on the side of the road. No sign. None was needed because the smell would announce when the place was open and direct visitors from miles around. Never got the name of the place, just knew that Don was the pit master and his wife Mary made the best side dishes I’d ever had. They told everything they made was from family recipes that were older than their grand parents. That meat would cook slowly in that shack while soaking up flavor for 12 — 24 hours depending on the meat. When the weather was nice me and some buddies would hit up Don at least every other week. Cold beer and brisket in the heart of the woods in the Smokey Mountains is a great way to relax. That BBQ and Wake Forest basketball are the things I miss most about living down there. I finally found some BBQ that comes close. Best brisket in Cincy, hands down. I’ve tried almost all of them and we actually have some pretty darn good BBQ around here but Walt’s is by far my favorite. It’s out of the way so I’d never tried it before even though I’d heard about the joint but I will definitely be making the drive out again and again! My craving for beef this tender and juicy and with that flavorful crust on the outside cannot be denied! This is a brisket that stands on it’s own. You could eat your fill without a drop of sauce and very easily be happy as can be but why would you do that when you have Walt’s sauces right there? They have a sweet, a spicy and a traditional Carolina sauce. I’ve always been partial to that tangy, yellow Carolina sauce because the vinegar base cuts the fattiness so well and just allows the meat to stand on it’s own merit but… the other two sauces are amazing. I ended up eating most of my meal with a mixture of all three! Try it, you’ll like it. The beefyness(is that a word? is now) with a touch of sweet and a kiss of spice and all that savory, smokey goodness just stole the show for me. Throw a hunk of that meat on a paper plate, set it on a picnic table in the woods on a gravel lot and I’ll be hollering to Mary for another beer. It’s that good. Also had one of the spicy Texas style sausage links with my meal and it was really, really good. I’m pure Cincinnati through and through and like most of the Queen City’s native son’s I know sausage. Chicago is a great town, don’t get me wrong, but if you want GREAT sausage, you gotta come to Cincy. The sausage they plate up is worthy of being served here. It’s got a great spice but it doesn’t over power the meat. Great crisp skin that gives that satisfying snap when you bite into it. A dab of the sweet sauce on a bite of this? Oh yeah, more please. Admitted carb addict me got the smashed potatoes and the mac-n-cheese for sides. Home made deliciousness! The only thing they need is a sprinkle of salt and pepper and a fork. Just fantastic! The apple cobbler I got was okay. Really the only part of the meal that didn’t impress me. That’s okay though because my date got the Buckeye pie and lawdy is that stuff good! The only people that won’t like it are those that don’t like peanut butter or chocolate so if you see either one of them tell ‘em not to bother. Fore the rest of us though this stuff is money! As much as I have been trying to keep my reviews nice, tidy and succinct lately I can’t stop here because the service we got from Drew was EXCEPTIONAL. Young guy who doesn’t even look old enough to drink a beer but he somehow got enough experience as a server to puts him well above most. He knows the menu, he obviously eats the food and has a passion for what they put on the plate and he’s the sort of friendly that immediately puts you at ease. Sitting in his section is like visiting an old friend that happens to have some amazing food and ice cold beers for you! Well done all around!

all you can eat bbq on sunday. Sauces are really good. The only advice I have for this place is FIXURDARN Booth seats!!! The seats were all flat, lumpy, uneven, and broken with springs like a bunch of arses lived on them for decades, ugh.

This place is great! The pulled pork is amazing, super tender, well shredded, moist, just the way pulled pork should be. Service was great, very friendly. The best thing about Walt’s, at least for me, was the spicy bbq sauce(the red bottle). Usually the spicy sauces loose their bbq flavor and just taste like weak hot sauce, but here is is nice and sweet first, then the spice hits you a second or two later. The only complaint I can make is that some of the menu items seemed over priced, mainly appetizers and the kids menu(we just got her a side dish to save money). Overall one of the best in Cincy.

Food is decent to delicious… Service average to good. Prices reasonable and they still have a kids eat free night(I think Wednesday but I can’t remember). Never too crowded. Great for carry out as well! Favorite food is the pulled pork and the sweet potato casserole!

The food at Walt’s is really fast and cheap(the lunch special, which includes a sandwich, chips, pickles, and a drink only costs $ 6), which makes it a prime lunch option Monday-Friday. I often come here with a pretty big group for lunch, and we get seated right away(no wait!), and our food comes out in about 10 minutes. The food is not bad… I usually get the pulled pork sandwich with the Saratoga chips. I love the Saratoga chips… They’re homemade potato chips, made fresh at Walt’s, and they’re extra crunchy and salty. You can also get the sandwiches with fries. The pulled pork is tasty, but I like cole slaw or something on my pulled pork sandwiches to break up the flavor of just meat and bread, and this one doesn’t come with cole slaw. They have three different barbecue sauces on the table, but I think they’re just ok. The décor is fun… The restaurant looks like a big red barn from the outside, and on the inside there’s pigs everywhere(they obviously have a theme…). The service is good, and if you ask they’ll give you a soda to go for free. Overall, it’s a really great place for a quick lunch, but I’m not too excited about it.

Search for a few places to get BBQ in Cincinnati and didn’t have a lot of luck. I asked around and Walt’s was recommended. We all decided to take the leap and head on over, when we got there its located in a big red barn, walk in and it actually smells like BBQ, and nobody is pretentious. All good point when looking for a BBQ restaurant. We ordered the corn nuggets with pork belly & Chicken and Waffle appetizers. I’ve got to say both were extremely delicious, I could eat the chicken and waffles as a main because the chicken was tasty and tender and the waffles were deep fried. On to the BBQ, there was a nice selection of available meat I chose the beef brisket and spicy sausage link. The Brisket was moist and flavorful, you can taste the smoke throughout. Walt’s doesn’t slice the brisket but bulk serves it, I’ve seen this method of serving and I was fine with it. Because of the flavor and moistness, you really don’t need to add BBQ sauce to it, but its an option. The sausage was more like Kielbasa and I was looking for more hot beef links, it was very good but I probably wont order it again as its not a favorite. My colleagues ordered variations including the pulled pork which was very good but the baby back ribs were on the dry side. I ordered the sweet potato casserole and Cole slaw both were pretty darn yummy and would order both again. Walt’s tends to serve a unique blend of Carolina and Texas BBQ with a twist, for this area its a winner and we’ll definitely be heading back again.

A million times better than Montgomery Inn. Walt’s is REAL barbecue. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. The prices are fabulous and you get a ridiculous amount of food. My personal favorites are the pulled pork, green beans, and mashed potatoes. The meals come with cornbread and I can assure you that one cornbread muffin will not be enough. I could eat a dozen and then happily slip into a three day food coma. My husband is in love with the ribs and brisket. They are wonderful, but in my opinion, there is nothing like the pulled pork. *swoon* We always have Walt’s whenever we have a party. They sell their meats by the pound. It’s fabulous because you can call 20 minutes before and they’ll never let you down.

Yes, it’s been a few years. I don’ think the smoked wings were on the menu then. Since they were new to me and it was 60 cent Wing Wednesday, I got the wings. I thought they were little on the small size — they don’t serve whole wings, the drums and the flasks. They come in orders of five. I order them naked with the garlic sause on the side. The wings without sauce are good. The wings and garlic sauce compllimented each other. For my sides, I had the collard greeens — they were not that good and the green beans — they were good. . Bottom line, get the wings, avoid the collard greens!

Went to walts about a week ago and was very disappointed. I have been to there numerous times and have always been satisfied. It was about 4:00 on a Sunday. There were only about 3 other tables when we arrived. About 6 tables were left unbussed which I found to be off putting as we were taken to our booth. Once seated it took a few minutes for our server to ask for our drink order, we both got water. Another few minutes passed before those arrive and then we ordered. I got the brisket dinner with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. My boyfriend ordered the 3 sliders with a side of Mac and cheese. About half way through his water, he found that there was a piece of crusted on cheese inside of his glass. I notified our waiter and he brought out another clean glass. Our food arrive about 15 minutes later and did not look appealing. My brisket looked dry and the buns on the sliders were soggy. Upon taking a bite, both of us found our food was below room temperature making it hard to eat. Both of us barely touched our food and the server did not return to our table to check on us until the brought the check. Even then he didn’t ask how everything was which was surprising since we had almost all of our meal left on our plates. The bill came out to about $ 28 which left me uneasy since we really didn’t even eat and the server didn’t inquire about our meal. I am so very disappointed in this experience for a few reasons. I have never had this issue before so it was very surprising. The place was not busy at all what so ever so I do not understand why we receive the service and the food that we did, Or why the tables were not bussed. Unfortunately, I do not think we will be coming back for a while.

Been wanting to try this place for awhile. The pork belly is why this is getting four stars, if I hadn’t gotten that — it would get 2 – 3. It’s pretty good, but it’s not amazing and honestly the sides were kind of «meh». My fried okra was dry and my sweet potato side was WAYTOO sweet. It tasted like they added a pound of sugar, which really isn’t necessary because sweet potatoes in and of themselves are naturally sweet. If you come here, you will be very sad if you don’t try the pork belly as one of your meat options. It is tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection. I like that they have several barbeque sauce options — the spiciest one was my favorite.

Some work friends brought me here for lunch and despite the generally bad Unilocal reviews, I tried to keep an open mind. Going on one colleague’s recommendation, I got the beef brisket sandwich and added a side of fried okra. The brisket was a bit dry/hard, but smothered in barbecue sauce, it wasn’t too bad. It didn’t really have the low & slow tenderness that I would expect from brisket or the signature smoky taste that usually comes from true barbecue. The fried okra were soft(bordering on soggy) instead of the firm, crisp texture the breading should have. Also, the iced tea was so weak, I literally had to hold it in my mouth for a few seconds deciding if I really just got ice water by mistake(served in a red cup so couldn’t discern the color). The white chocolate/cranberry cookie I got to end the meal was pretty darn good though. The place itself is huge and decorated with tons of pig paraphernalia(which always strikes me as odd in a BBQ place, but I guess that’s just me). Service was OK – a bit of a mix up as to who was our server at the beginning and a bit slow on the checks at the end, but she was friendly and our food came out reasonably promptly. Debating between 2 and 3 stars, I ultimately had to go with 2 on the basis that I don’t really feel the need to go back. It wasn’t terrible, just not worth the drive and calories for the food itself.

I don’t think I’ve every been quite so… insulted? by an eating establishment. I ordered a basket of onion rings as an appetizer for $ 5.49. I uploaded a picture of what I was served, check it out. I got 5 small onion rings, one of which was about the diameter of a quarter. So that’s $ 1.10 per. I don’t ever complain or question my orders, but I was so amazed that I asked my waitress again if this was correct, she checked a menu and confirmed that an appetizer basket was $ 5.49 and that it consisted of 5 onion rings(even if they are 1 small bite each, I guess?). I wasn’t blaming her, but I did ask her to let someone in charge know that I was pretty much insulted by pathetic portion for the price. Ridiculous. Seriously, go look at the picture I uploaded. Pulled pork sandwich was ok, maaaybe ½ pound of pork, served on a cold, plain, un-toasted bun. Thimble of cole slaw was likely store bought. Fried apples were mushy but tasted ok. So, grand total for 5 small onion rings, pork sandwich, 1 side fried apples, 1 diet Pepsi… $ 15.05. $ 18.05 after tip. What a complete and total rip off, and I still walked away hungry. I’ve heard people at work say, «yeah Walt’s is pretty good» for a while now, so I ventured to the other side of town specifically to give it a shot. Now I know I wouldn’t cross the street to go to a Walts. Here’s my tip for Walt: don’t insult the intelligence of your customers. They will know when you are blatantly ripping them off. Oh, and re-paint the lines in your parking lot, I got out of my car and was walking in before I noticed I was parked in a Handicapped spot that was so faded out I couldn’t tell, and had to get back in my car to move it.
