Halo halo? What is this? Looks like a Vietnamese dessert but you get flan and ice cream inside. I really don’t know what is in this goodness, beans? Jelly? Flan? Ube ice cream? Those are the few things I was able to see while mixing all this together and getting my first bite! Yummy, refreshing. Will review more when I come back to try the food.

I give this location 3 stars for nice customer svc from the staff. The food is ok but needs to trim down on grease, salt & sugar. Hope management will read all the comments here. The flavor in the food is there but people here in the US are more health conscious so shouldn’t they adapt to our way of life here? I like the garlic chicken best bec it’s tasty & I would hav enjoyed the fried chicken were they not salty. In fact I would enjoy everything on their menu if only they can reduce the salt, oil & sugar in their cooking & mixtures. This restaurant can try to have both classic/regular and healthier choice of their popular foods to test the market to see which kind sells better. I bet ya, the healthier choice will have more orders than the regular kind. Don’t they save more money when they put less of those 3 ingredients?

I love their fried chicken… I have no complaints as long as they have fried chicken.

I don’t usually write reviews but I was compelled to because I’ve never seen such horrible customer service. There were three ladies working. The staff drinking while serving food, answering their cell phones instead of taking our order, laughing ridiculously loud, one even put her lipstick on. I’m sure it’s not like this all the time because I’ve seen good customer service at this chowking from an older gentleman before. But if I’m going to come here and trust you to cook my food correctly, at least show some type of professionalism by showing that you are at least following regulations.

This place is great if you want to stop for some quick Filipino food. I am currently having tocino(my favorite Filipino breakfast) and bangus breakfast plate that comes with two scoops of garlic fried rice and a fried egg. Not Oilly as i thought it would be. This plate is bomb! I’ll be sure to come back and try more plates.

I fondly remember eating at Jollibee near Chinatown in Manila; I’ve also ordered takeout from the store on Beverly Boulevard. Like others on this site, I saw a sign for Jollibee and went on in to silence my hunger and drown my sorrow after a dude for Bezold Photography upstairs wrongly accused me of being a grandma. I was stunned to see all the interior signage read«Chow King» but decided to try it anyway. The staff explained that Jollibee and Chow King were part of the same company. Thankfully, the fried chicken is still the same as I remembered it; the batter is golden, tempura light and tempura like, and the meat is juicy. My picky eating son got the beef wonton mein and though he didn’t eat the beef or the vegetables, he found the dish tasty. He said he’d give this place a 4. Alas, 5s and even 4s are difficult to come by in my book(or my Unilocal column) but I like supporting an Asian owned multinational chain and I like the idea of fast food with an Asian flair. «Jia you!»(«Add gas!» or «Attaboy!» in Mandarin.) Staff was very nice too and restaurant was clean. Give it a try if you’re in the Puente Hills Mall and have a hankering for Pancit.

What happened to Jollibee? The sign was Jollibee & Chow King but I didn’t see the giant red bee. Ordered tocino bangus combo. Tocino bangus($ 6.99): this breakfast combo is served all day and comes with garlic rice, fried eghand soda. It was surprisingly not bad. I am not a fan of Chow King(especially its chicken) but I kinda like this cheap meal. Fast and friendly service. 3 stars! QUICKTIP: LOCATEDINSIDEPUENTEHILLSMALL. Chow King is almost yummylicious!

Wahh. Definitely one of the weaker chains. This place has died down since Jollibee closed and I guess they cut their staff too because they were doing a 3 man magic cooking show for about 15 – 20 customers. I feel bad for them but this is just poor management. The food of course is still the same. My family loves the halo halo at Chow King more than other Filipino fast food places. I’ve had better experiences, but it won’t stop me from coming here to get my halo halo fix.

I ordered crispy soy sauce chicken with rice and Taho dessert because the picture looks good. The food is not good but not too bad. The crispy soy sauce chicken suppose to be «crispy» but it’s now. Most likely I will not back to there again because there are plenty of better choice around that area.

I honestly think I’m the weirdo in the room because I didn’t have a bad experience here. Of course, I am the only one eating here right now, so maybe that’s a thing. I was treated well by staff, the food was cooked fresh and well. Plenty of good flavor. I had the tocino breakfast with some shumai. I was happy. It didn’t blow my mind, but it was far from horrible. I had a good meal, good service, and served by nice people. I’d come back again.

It’s fast food asian style and pretty cheap. I had the congee and chicken noodle soup. Tried the taho for dessert. Everything was pretty good and fast. The service was friendly. Great place to go before and after the movies or shopping since is in the mall.

If I could give this review a zero, I would. Want my short story? Skip to the end. The place was lacking a huge portion of their food selection, for whatever reason, I know not. I ordered the garlic chicken and rice, and when my order came out, it looked like they were the leftovers. I shrugged it off, but I heard the cashier telling the guy who ordered after me «sorry we don’t have any more garlic chicken» which led to my correct suspicion– I was served the remains of whatever they had left. The rice was seriously dry, and they didn’t even serve any condiments with it! And not to sound overly screwed up, but I have to be honest. This place has 2 stars for a reason. I used to work at a jollibee franchise so I know how these food places work, it’s all pretty similar as far as the service and the food quality. Take that from me. My short story: I GOTFOODPOISONINGAFTERANDSUFFEREDWITHITALLWEEKEND. Horrible. Horrrrrible.

This place is one of those two businesses share one storefront(Jollibee/Chow King). Jollibee was the reason why i was there, however upon arrival i saw the«permanently closed» sign and so i thought why not give this place a try…(That decision ended up being«The Single Worst Decision I Have Ever Made») This place should really drop the W in its name and call it «Choking»! That’ word practically sums up the reaction you’ll see when people take their first bite of this food. NOJOKE! I’ve tried their friend chicken, lumpia, pork as ado siopao, and siu mai… everything tasted rubbery and not fresh at all. Save your money and stay away from this place…

Chow King was terrible on all fronts. Service: There was a baby with the family sitting behind me as I stood at the register to order. The cashier was too busy making funny faces and«playing» with the baby(well, I HOPE that is what she was doing…) to pay attention to me and my order. Food: I ordered a dish with fried tofu and pieces of pork in a sweet/sour sauce… the name escapes me as I have no grasp over tagalog. The picture of the dish was very deceiving! At 2.99 I thought I’d be getting a decent size bowl, I ended up getting about 2 dixie cups worth of [bad] food. What a waste of my lunch break. Honestly I just felt like I was chewing stuff in my mouth and going through the ropes of eating rather than actually enjoying a meal. I can’t believe how terrible this place was! I recommend staying far, far away from Chow King.

Seriously, the worst Filipino food I’ve had(and I’m Filipino)! Everything I ordered tasted like it was made the day before and microwaved. I went there with my 2 kids(4&2 years old) looking for something quick and easy. We ordered lumpia shanghai, miki bihon, pork asado siopao, buchi(sesame balls), and taho. First of all, the lumpia was brown on one side and white on the other, still cold. The miki bihon tasted like it was seasoned with only soy sauce and had some thrown on rubbery chicken and egg pieces? The buchi was definitely fried the day before and reheated in the microwave. I’ve never had buchi that I bit into and felt like it was the toughest piece of steak that I couldn’t chew — gross! Pork asado siopao was okay — I’ve had better and the taho was decent. Save your money and go somewhere else! Walk to DJs in the same parking lot or Jolly Bee for better food! This is my first review on Unilocal and had to do it to save anyone else thinking of going here.

It’s so interesting how no one really added pics until I put mine up haha. Anyway, this was my first time trying out Filipino food. The service is as expected at a fast food place in a mall, but it was efficient and quick so I ain’t complainin. We got: 6-piece fried chicken Garlic chicken with bihon Gulaman Halo Halo The fried chicken was so greasy and a bit salty. It’s not something I’d eat too often but it definitely had a good flavor to it. The garlic chicken was good but really dry, and the bihon wasnt good. I’d rather get the Korean dish japchae instead. The gulaman and halo halo were so sweet! Who knew filipino food was so flavorful! Over all, it was a good experience, and looking at the reviews below, I know there’s better out there. Looking forward to trying out more filipiono food later on!

DISAPPOINTING! First of all, the customer service was terrible! The guy who took our order was a young Filipino man, and I thought he’d at least give me a smile because I’m a fellow Filipino, but NO! He was just snobby and rude & it made me sad! I don’t have anything else to say other than I will not be back!

I go to Jollibee for my fried chicken, gravy and rice and my wife goes to Chow King for their soup. It is practically in one spot. Half is Jollibee and the other half of the space is Chow King. Convenient definitely and it will give you more choices to chose from. My wife was somewhat satisfied with their soup. Mixed feelings I guess so that’s safe to assume she’s had better.

I come here strictly for one thing, taho. My all time favorite Filipino drink dessert. It’s tofu with tapioca in a very very sweet, brown sugar base drink. It’s warm, sweet and oh sooo soothing in your mouth and tummy.
