Was here Saturday to get my son some running gear for cross country and the employees were not at all helpful. The cashier was flat out rude and seemed bothered to do her job. We did get some great deal, but will not be shopping here again because of the terrible customer service.

ordered a bike online for a big ride in portland, it arrived dented and scratched so i took it into the local shop — they did not have the same bike there so I had to leave empty handed; they did reorder it for me on their computer but i had to pay additional since they couldnt give me the discount i had received online — so more money out of pocket for me until i could come back with the bike and get a refund — this was complicated for them and stressful for me as i had to make a secondary trip back and wasnt expecting the additional cost when i went in to return it. i had to wait over a week for the bike to get the ‘free assembly’ which not only means we didnt have a bike for the ride we were going to go on, but again was without a bike for the 2nd camping mtbing trip we were planning on taking. i called to see if it was ready and they said ‘oh we forgot to call you, its not going to be ready for another day’. was told it would be ready the next day at 3 o clock, never got a call. i finally received a message that it was ready but we were already out of town by then. they only have one guy building bikes and he was sick/not there for a few days. we could have easily built our own bike but i needed to physically take the bike in in order to get my refund. super lame. then, when we go to pick up the bike finally, the guy at the bike shop leaves us waiting because he doesnt have a pen anywhere to fill out the form. how unprofessional is this? just have a pen in your pocket. THEN, the bike is assembled but the tires are FLAT and he offers me an additional service plan for 25, 30 bucks or whatever and i said NOTHANKS(we can fill our own tires with air thanks a lot). he made a comment like ‘oh so you can do it on your own?’ kind of condescendingly. i have put bikes together before and was forced to bring it in basically to get my money back. why is a return/straight exchange so difficult and why did it take them over a week to put a bike together, then leave the tires without air? i would never go back to this place, only used the online promo sale to get a good deal on the bike but for all the headaches and missed biking opportunities due to these internal complications, i would not buy from sports authority again.

This review is not for the store itself, but the mens bathroom which seemed to be lifted straight out of the ghetto in the movie Candyman. Dirty floors, dilapidated stalls, filthy toilets, and an all permeating stench of bowl movements. The toilets had urine all over the seat(which might be more a statement of men in general than how often the room is cleaned). The lights were a terrible fluorescent that made my head pound, which can make it difficult to relax enough to let one out. Three men came in to use the urinal while I was dropping the kids off and only two washed their hands. Which suggests a lot of the products in the store are getting touched by hands that touch penises and then do not get cleaned. I guess that makes the store rating not that high either.

This Sports Authority was like any other one, it was messy in the sales racks and organized in the regular priced racks, lots of sports shoes and supplies in stock. Only thing was it was hard to find where sports categories were, I felt claustrophobic in there and it took a good amount of turning and feeling lost because of how many things were in there and how hard it was to find someone that worked there to point me to the right direction. But overall the cashier was very friendly and we found a baseball themed shirt for the hubby for a baseball theme birthday party that day. They have some great clearance sales too!

Sports Authority: something I clearly am not. But even a girl who’ll pick a milkshake over a shake weight any day has to visit a sporty store every now and then, and for better or worse, this has become my sporty store of choice. This isn’t why: — Staff. I mean, they’re kind of helpful? Enough-ish? When you see one? — Prices. Things cost as much as you’d expect. More(sometimes) or less(unlikely). — Selection. They’ll likely have the one thing I need, but probably just one kind. One color. In maybe two sizes or something. Whatever. It’ll do. This is why: — Availability. They’ll have things in stock that Target or Fred Meyer won’t, like a mini trampoline or a medicine ball or whatever. — Convenience. I’m able to inspect and take it home without having to wait for Amazon, which for various reasons seems to matter when it comes to phys ed equipment. — Proximity. It’s in the same parking lot as Target and the Nordstrom Rack. So that’s pretty much it. This is not a love story. While I’m a shopper who often prefers to be left alone to wander, I’ve felt left a little high and dry when I’ve gone in for something specific here. Which is every time, because — and maybe this is what it feels like to shop as a man — I have no desire to window shop here. I know what I want and all I want to do is buy it, get outta there, and go find me a milkshake.

If I wrote this review a year ago, the rating would be a two. But since Joe’s has closed, this place has become a bit of a substitute. And I am not happy about it. I’ve had one very good experience here in the past year buying new bikes for the boys. The employee in the bike department was very knowledgeable, spent a lot of time with us and checked the bikes and gave them a quick tune up before we left the store. Every other experience has been pretty lame. When I was shopping there yesterday, I was once again surprised by the things they do not carry and their lack of selection and sale items. For anything remotely outdoorsy, you need to go to a different store. The items here are geared toward those that exercise in a gym. Joe’s is missed, but this place is probably slightly better than Dick’s.

This is nothing more than a clothing store. Sure, they sell a few mountain bikes and yoga starter kits, but no outdoorsman type stuff. I couldn’t find a knife, fishing line, a reel, or ammunition. The only positive I found was that they sell Mountain House meals and paint balls — though both at exaggerated prices.

Perfectly reasonable place to go get shoes and other sporty stuff. I found a pair of Converse suede shoes on sale, and probably would have cost the same on Zappos, but it was convenient to try them on and get them there. Husband also found a pair of shoes, which is a miracle, and they were pretty cheap. The store is clean and the staff are the usual slow but ultimately helpful younger type people. The selection of sports stuff and clothing is good. If you find yourself stuck at the Promenade it is worth stopping by and checking out the sales stuff.
