The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. However, the«patio» seating left very little to be desired. The«patio» was simply a concrete slab, located in a breezeway between two parking lots. There was absolutely no privacy — the parking lot activity was not shielded by any plants or other landscaping. Additionally, the owner was conducting a «staff» meeting with some of the employees on the patio during our dinner. This atmosphere was unacceptable for the price of the dinner($ 125).

Absolutely fabulous! Incredibly small, intimate setting– feels like a little private wine cellar in Italy. The tables are extremely close– probably only 10 tables in the whole place but the feeling of intimacy added to the ambience. Monica was the absolute best waitress. We asked for her recommendations and she did not disappoint. We had the meatballs and vegetable crudités which were fresh from the garden– drizzled with olive oil and lemon– so delicious. The lasagna, the bow tie pasta, the steak– the fried mozzarella. Everything was delightful flavors to the palette. Monica was darling/a perfect waitress. Gave you space without feeling intrusive, yet needs were met. You will not be disappointed– a fun place for intimacy of two, or friends who just enjoy each other– a must on your bucket list!

I just love this cozy spot, hidden in the college town in a parking lot. The food has improved since the name change and since the guys from the Back Abbey have taken it over. It really is a hidden tucked away unassuming stone building in the back of a parking lot. When you get inside the place is so tiny it only holds 10 tables and two cooks behind an open kitchen. The staff was down to earth and let their personality shine with quirky humor while delivering excellent service. The toast app was fantastic and they have really stepped up their homemade pasta game. This is a favorite spot when I visit Claremont every year.

Had a wonderful time celebrating my daughters 25th! The greenbeans were to die for, the muscles with pork OMG!!! Well done my friends, outstanding! Oh, and the water… for all of you water snobs, was the perfect temp, and delicious! Kat was our server and her description of all dishes, including the wine list and cocktails, takes your on a culinary adventure in and of itself. We will be back!

What a great place to eat. Met one of the owners John really nice guy. This place is definitely different reminds me of old eastern Europe which I really love. Going to come back for the lasagna next time.

Had a sublime dinner on Saturday night. Cocktails had incredible depth of character — I lost my cool over the Cacciavite cocktail, rimmed with shaved chocolate. We enjoyed the grilled bread dish with broccolini and the soft polenta with raclette as appetizers, and both were thoughtful and satisfying. Entrees were springtimey and fresh and rich and just downright lovely. And the service was outstanding! Great recommendations from the servers, lots of patience while I waffled between dishes, and the chef sent us home with chocolate chip fennel cookies. It was such an intimate vibe, almost like a secret supper club more than a busy restaurant. I loved it and I simply can’t wait to come back.

Love the food and ambiance. This place is a little gem. The vegetable cruda was so fresh and my husband and I like to order different items from the menu so that we can share. We have been here about five times and never been disappointed. Kat was a delight. Loved the Amy’s Herbal tea.

The location, size and atmosphere of this place is unique and exciting but for me, that is where the appeal ends. The servers were nice but couldn’t make up for the mediocre food and limited menu. Our pasta was dried, over cooked and lacking flavor. After a couple of appetizers and our pastas, we skipped the main dish so as not to disappoint ourselves any further. Cute place, just don’t have your hopes too high on the food.

Such a great hidden gem! The entire staff was super nice, and our server Julez provided excellent service and recommendations. Brad, the owner, was super personable and came to our table to give his recommendations for dessert. It’s nice to see an owner care so much about the quality of food his restaurant serves and his guests’ experience. Highly recommend the polpette(meatballs) as an appetizer. Really enjoyed the rich lasagna with the bechamel sauce. Tiramisu was delightful, and apparently, everything is made in house for that dessert – including the ladyfingers. Free cookie on the way out… chocolate chip with sea salt and fennel(?) perhaps? Veggies are locally sourced without chemicals. You can taste the love in the food! We will be back again to sit barside by the chefs!

This place is THEE Best Italian food restaurant hidden gem EVER. Everything is your NOT typical restaurant and food. I did not have anything that was bad, opposite everything was the most light, delicate, and flavorful tasting food I have had in like 10 yrs. The service is fantastic, no, superb, amazing. From Paul to the hostess to the owner John. It is a very small restaurant seata 39 people and the tiny bar upstairs. This place is one of a kind and you must appreciate all the love and attention to detail that goes 8nto every single thing. Reservations extremely recommended

Do not recommend this place whatsoever. The menu is very short and only caters to a certain crowd. The plates we got were tiny too! We got 3 meals and an appetizer and it was 108 $!! It was overpriced, very small portions, and the room made me feel claustrophobic. Also not to mention, the water tastes like it comes out of a barrel in the back. I’m not one to leave comments or complaints on Unilocal but this place was Unilocal worthy. By the way, the restaurant may have been good before. But after the menu change its awful.

Hidden gem only few miles away from me; the foodie in me want to tell you all how delicious my dinner was and I didn’t waste a min taking food picture; the selfish side of me want to keep this place a secret so it won’t be too crowded when I want to enjoy my own little peace. Dinner was amazing tonight, every single dish! 3 of us ordered 3 appetizers and 3 main dishes, share in family style, can’t be better! Kat our server is super sweet! I’m glad I found this place for my favorite people who’s visiting me from Oxnard. We are defiantly coming back!

One of the best experiences ever! This isn’t your typical Italian«let’s load up on carbs» kinda place. This is a real foodies paradise. Portions aren’t large. But it’s perfect. It’s not about portions. It’s about quality. And that’s exactly what you’ll get. I notice a few of the reviews complain about the pasta. I disagree, the pasta was awesome. I believe it’s made with wheat, etc. it complimented the scallops wonderfully. The chef nailed every plate beautifully! Kudos to him! Not only that, but the ambience alone. Cozy and beautiful. Reminds me of a quaint bistro in Europe. The service is exceptional! Make a reservation! Seating is very limited. I plan on checking out their pop-up cocktail bar, the Claremont social. It’s on Sunday’s!

I had high hopes and those were quickly squashed. We insisted we dine at this restaurant tonight and walked away feeling unimpressed and underwhelmed. A fantastic location, we loved La Picoletta when it was owned by the Mittino’s, but the food tonight was very average. I felt as though the chefs were trying too hard and missed on all accounts. The complementary starter, which the chef delivered to our table was shaved carrots with anchovy and all you could taste was the anchovy. There were four of us and we all didn’t think this was good. Then the gals had the lasagna and the boys had the highly rated Fazzoletti. The lasagna was so rich and creamy that I couldn’t finish and the portions are small to begin with. The Fazzoletti was ok, but I didn’t feel the dish lived up to the servers description. The white bean braised radicchio was delicious though. I could have made that my meal. Probably won’t go back and that is too bad. We love the interior, space and unique old world charm.

The new menu and new name was refreshing. We received a free appetizer(baby carrots and sour cream dip), complimentary bread, green beans, bocconcini(mozzarella), clam linguini, rabbit ravioli, steak, and pork osso bucco. I liked almost all the dishes, they are delicious, flavorful and not too salty. The only thing that could be better was the linguini. The clams are super delicious and very fresh, however, the linguini pasta was not as good as I had expected(thought it could be smoother). But overall, it was really delicious. I would go there again.

Absolutely lovely little place. Great service, the food was wonderful, and the ambiance of this little restaurant is just perfect. I straight up asked the waiter to ‘surprise me’ with a sweet mixed drink, and was not disappointed. So that’s five stars on it’s own right there.

The ambiance is quirky and cute, and the server was nice. The pork osso buco was decent, although the paltry amount of polenta was a glaring issue. The bad news was the linguini with clams. We were told they make their own pasta, but this wasn’t linguini. I honestly think they left the egg out of it, becuase it was tasteless, very al dente, and gritty. A complete miss. The sauce on top was so bland I thought they left it dry. I sent it back and did not get anything to replace it. Wish I could say I was coming back. It was $ 78 bucks for 1 entre, 4 drinks, and an appetizer. Meh So the owner called the next day and explained it was whole wheat pasta. He explained that since they are so new that they are working out ‘quirks’. This is great but it should’ve been mentioned on the menu. That would fix the ‘quirk’ as I would have never ordered the dish.

Brilliant dishes and perfect portions! Uno Tre Otto is the finest Italian restaurant Iv’e been to in a while. The owners are clearly passionate about authentic cuisine.
