Update on SPoT… it is still the same bunch of meh-ness, maybe even worse. I had a really strange experience here recently. I ordered an iced coffee, paid and had a seat while I waited for them to get my drink. The barista then called for me, saying they were out of iced coffee and asked if I would want something else instead. Okay, out of iced coffee at a coffee shop? What a bummer, but I understand things happen so I asked if I could have an iced chai instead. I remained in my seat and soon the barista called me over. So she says I need to pay the difference between the iced coffee and iced chai. Are you kidding me? You’re out of something and offer me something else and want me to pay the difference that’s what like 0.75 cents or something? I got slightly upset at this and said I wanted my money back. I am never a difficult customer but yikes… oh and they got rid of the student discount. Boo.

Came here for a quick fix and ordered a grande soy latte. Long wait due to long line but got my latte and took a sip only to realize it’s a regular latte. Confirmed with barista and she apologized cause it was the order she received. She was willing to make me another but I didn’t want to make a fuss and said its fine. Sat down to half enjoy what I have. Well lo and behold barista came over with a soy latte and literally begged me to take it. What a service! Anna you made my day!

Worst costumer service. I came to get food, was planing on getting a burger and a chai latte. First of all the system was down, so I could only get whatever exact change I could cover(which I can understand that stuff happens) So i bought one small chai latte. The guy at the cash register told me to sit and wait for my name to be called. After literally 15 minutes waiting I stood up to see what was going on. To my surprise, two people that came after me had already been served food and drinks, when I asked the guy why they had skipped my order he said he apologize and to sit and wait for my name to be called, to which I said no, I have already done that and I need my drink to be done before you proceed with other orders, he said he didn’t make drinks and I had to wait for the lady that make drinks to be done, I walked up to the lady and kindly said excuse me but I’ve been waiting for a drink and you are doing a pizza for a guy that came AFTER me. Then a guy that was next to her came over and fixed my small chai tea in less than a minute, so why couldn’t they just make my drink when I ordered it? Why they kept ignoring me and started making food for people that came after me? Why did they all were bothered when I simply asked for a small drink that I had already paid for? I FELTDISCRIMINATED because I am a minority, I don’t really see any other reason as to why I was treated different than the rest of the people. I had never felt this way before at any spot coffee I have visited. This location was a total let down, I walked in ready to spend +$ 15 and instead I could only get a small chai tea and a really bad experience. Your team should be better at customer service. The guy at the register, short hair, was a total arrogant person. You have lost my business and I will make sure my friends and family know about this bad experience.

I would have given it a higher review had I not had the japanese iced coffee it is without a doubt the worst tasting concoction I have ever had, the aftertaste lingered even after I washed it out with another iced coffee from Tim Horton’s. I would have appreciated being told I was being given that crap rather than one of their regular coffees. It doesn’t even taste like coffee more like bad weak tea.

The atmosphere is not very welcoming; the restaurant is rather boxy with few spots to sit comfortably. The staff is polarized– some members are the sweetest people and the others never crack a smile. Never had a problem with the food, but they do burn the espresso rather often. I haven’t had to wait more than five minutes for a meal.

I have found myself hard at work at the Transit Rd(near Maple Rd) location a lot recently. This location has the same great food, drinks, and services as other locations. The staff have been extremely well attentive. My interactions have been with friendly and caring employees who enjoy the service industry. I have witnessed the staff wiping down tables and cleaning up more than just the bins of dirty dishes at this location. This location has less of a crowd during the day. I’ve found that it only becomes busy after 7pm on week days. There is both inside and outside seating. The environment here is much more relaxed. The only real down side to this more work-conducive environment, is a lack of power outlets. Only two tables near the window, 1 table against the back wall by the ATM, and the couch«fire pit» area have usable outlets that I’ve found. Each of these areas only has two outlets per table. The front window faces the sun set, and during that time it can get rather warm sitting in the window where most of the power outlets are. This location’s driveway is close enough to Maple Rd that it can be difficult to make a left. The driveways are also located directly across from the Transit Rd left hand turning lane, sometimes making it impossible to turn into their lot. I recommend that you do a U-turn at the next light, or head North on Transit with Sheridan behind you. You can also get in through the BJ’s lot, if you do not want to make a U-turn. It can get a bit chilly once the sun sets. They seem to really pump their air conditioning. The bathroom feels like a walk in cooler(not freezer). This location has ample parking. Is in walking distance of a lot of businesses, restaurants, and stores along Transit road. They have an ATM. Their bathrooms have always been clean. They accept credit cards and cash. So far this is my favorite location.

I love coffee. I think I mentioned it in my previous review but I’m going to say it anyway. I usually go places with coffee in my hand. Sometimes I wonder if I need to attend CA(coffee anonymous). Lately I’ve been coming to spot coffee on this location, and so far I like it. It’s not as crowded as the other spot coffee(ie. Elmwood or Main st). I don’t usually order food, mostly just coffee or dessert, depends on my mood. My latest obsession is their caramel mocha chocolate cake with whipped cream filling which was super moist and tasty. Their café mocha tasted good and even the black coffee wasn’t taste like water. The seating area is spacious for customers to eat or to pretend busy with the computer. There’s a sofa available next to a fire place. This place hasn’t disappointed me yet and I hope I don’t need to update my review with a lower rating. Maybe with a better one once I try their sandwich or breakfast. As far as the wall outlet for computer, I don’t really need it because I don’t sit more than 2 hours to do some work. So I’m not sure where the outlet is. Great service, nice sitting area, and the restroom is clean. I will definitely come back again. Parking is easy to come in, hard to get out as Transit road is always busy. So be prepared.

I come here quite a bit. Everything I’ve ever gotten has been delicious! I highly recommend the vegan berry muffin as well as the veggie burger panini. As far as drink selections, they’ve got mostly anything you’d want. Colin is officially going to be the assistant manager and he does a phenomenal job. He’s been with the company for about a little over a year now. Keep up the good work guys! Pro-tip: if you’re a student, bring your student ID and you’ll get a discount.

Let me start by saying I’ve been going to Spot coffee for almost 4 years now. I spent 3 to 4 days a week there for awhile. Needless to say, I’ve been in every Spot coffee since I discovered their Elmwood location(which is awesome by the way, go there, not here.) I have family out in Williamsville so when I realized last summer that there was a location on Transit road I was thrilled. Over the past 7 months I’ve made it a staple of my week. The entire staff knew my name and when I walked in immediately began making my drink. I thoroughly enjoyed most everything about this Spot location(the only thing I didn’t enjoy is I had to drive 30 minutes each time I went there.) A little less than a month ago the manager who made me feel like a regular was let go and many of the employees who had become friends began to leave as well. I was informed by one of the employees before they quit that the company had changed many of its policies and was no longer a good company to work for. I understand that places like this change their staffing. I was confident that I would be able to foster the same friendships that I had with the outgoing staff. I was wrong. The new staff seems uninterested in forming any sort of lasting relationship with their customers. When I tried to explain the drink the old manager made for me to one of the new staff he simply said, «Are you serious right now?» I believe he was the assistant manager. I have heard employees yelling at other employees while customers were in the store, this is very uncomfortable to witness. I have been belittled by the kitchen staff for both the amount I ordered and what the order consisted of. I have never been treated in such an appalling way by a company. I should point out that I have given this location the benefit of the doubt multiple times, everybody has a bad day now and then. It seems as though the atmosphere new management has fostered is that of belittlement and disrespect. I will not be returning to this or any other location as the experiences I have had over the past 2 weeks have completely turned me off from this company. Starbucks coffee is better anyways.

I visited this location for the first time last week. I’ve been to most of the other locations throughout the years, including those outside of Buffalo. Compared to the others, this is my least favorite location. While the location is accessible and well-located with plenty of parking, it simply lacks the eclectic, community vibe that other locations feature. Outlets for my laptop were hard to claim. There was a cozy lounge area, complete with big couches and a fireplace, which was a plus. The primary issue I encountered was with the employee interactions. When I arrived, the barista taking my order was friendly and upbeat. After I requested the chicken pesto sandwich, he asked if I wanted white or wheat bread. I replied with the wheat selection. A few moments later, another employee(perhaps his manager?) burst out of the kitchen and said«How many times do I have to tell you that there is no such a thing as wheat focaccia bread?» My barista was incredibly apologetic both to him and to me. I tried to lighten the situation with humor, but I felt bad for the employee and slightly awkward myself. I’ve been a retail manager in the past and disciplining employees in front of customers is demeaning and a killer of morale. About an hour later, I witnessed a similar situation crop up again. The same manager yelled at the barista for taking too long of a break in front of other customers. Again, the barista hung his head in shame and apologized profusely, saying that he had accidentally lost track of time and that it wouldn’t happen again. And, like the last time, I felt bad for the friendly young man. I know the frustrations that managing others can bring, but, as a patron, it was an uncomfortable situation to watch. On a positive note, my(white) focaccia sandwich with pesto chicken was yummy and my Cocomoca was on par with ones I’ve had from other locations. WiFi was pretty decent and, despite frigid weather outside, the dining area was kept at a comfortable temperature. I was able to work there for several hours without issue.

I work nearby and this Spot location is great for me to get out of the office and meet with people. As a youth minister, Spot gives me a cool place to grab any hip drink with a teen or young adult. The space is cool and comfy and the staff are always engaging. I’ll be coming back more and more, and will almost certainly have people in tow.

This is a little bit of an update from a previous review almost 2 years ago: I love Spot Coffee. From the original one(original for me) on Elmwood to the Spot at Main and Union in Williamsville, to my latest fave, Transit and Greiner– I am a fan! I usually get the same thing at any of the locations and the quality and service are usually consistent. This location though, is very convienent for me. It’s not Spot’s fault, but it is VERY difficult to try to turn left into the lot from Transit, depending on what time of day you’re there. Use caution, or go in through the M&T entrance on Greiner, after bank hours. I usually get a Power Protein shake, strawberry banana flavor. It’s made from a mix, so it’s pretty consistent, but they had coconut and lime flavors for coffees over the summer and I had someone mix that up for me instead– at Main & Union it was perfect, tasted like a piña colada. Here, it tasted more banana-y but still very good. I love their chamomile tea. This location has become cozier since it opened and it looks like they added more seating. The fireplace was going when I was there last week and it was nice and toasty sitting next to it.

The girl at the register talked me into getting some type of tea. I was still hesitant but decided to get it after she said«try it, see if you like it». Well, I didn’t like it. Decided to go back to the register and asked her if I could get green tea. Her response, yes but you still have to pay for it. Huh? You forced me to «try» something that I didn’t like. I can’t get something else? Wth. Will the price of the tea come out of your pay check Missy? Yah? Nah? Then drop the sales pitch.

Really great place to go alone to study or read. Very cosy atmosphere with a fire place and décor. Great coffee and hot drinks. The food is slightly more processed then I usually eat, I was looking for more of a home made sandwich selection. My chicken pesto sandwich was good, but as I said, the chicken seems to b pre packaged and probably frozen at some point. Not sure if they actually cook here or just warm the food up in a microwave. I do love their drinks and will always support a Buffalo original!

Nice place to come and study, plenty of parking. I got the Moroccan mint tea and my boyfriend got a coffee. We went on a Saturday night and they had live music from 7 – 9 pm. What a nice treat! Didn’t seem as crowded as the other locations around town.

Excellent atmosphere and service. My two favorites are the Mike breakfast sandwich on a croissant and the Cajun turkey wrap. However, I would like them to consider ordering more croissants. I am a frequent customer(avg. 1−2/week throughout the year) and at least 75% the croissants or not available. Often times the croissants are sold out by 9am. I learned that they order two to four per day; as a coffee shop, I’d assume that croissants would be a standard item to rarely run out of. I would also like to see more lunch sandwiches available on croissants; perhaps a chicken salad croissant? That would great for the summertime. Lastly, I love my coffee and I have tried many times to enjoy their coffee; however, there is just something with the taste and smell that I don’t care for(perhaps bitterness?). Two types of coffee that I prefer would be(and hate to say it Because I’d much rather support local spot than the giant gorilla in the industry«Starbucks») the Starbucks Americano and the top-5 strong coffee options via Nespresso. I’m not sure if spot will read this review, or if they do what they would be able to improve. But all in all, spot is a decent place and I plan to return, just not as often.

First … If you’re a coffee shop your coffee should be just about perfect. And, the people behind the counter should understand«coffee lingo». What’s so difficult about«grande one pump fat-free sugar-free vanilla latte»? I mean I order it all the time at coffee shops everywhere and no one ever bats an eye. And, I’ve never had to repeat myself three times. Second… When you order a hot beverage in a coffee shop it should be HOT. Not tepid… Not luke-warm… But HOT. I order latte specifically for that reason. I like my coffee light and I like it hot… and by ordering latte, which is espresso with steamed milk, I usually get what I want. Not today. This beverage was tasty enough but just a few degrees above room temperature… blech! Sure the setting is nice and clean and the employees are friendly. And, I love the long table by the fireplace. Perfect for doing some work or hanging with a few friends. But I must say that the whole place just kind of misses something. Maybe it’s too clean… too perfect… too much of a «Mac-Coffee Shop» trying to be cool in the suburbs. Honestly, it just doesn’t work.

Not my favorite, but not the worst. Following the opening of SPoT Coffee on Main St. in Williamsville, it seems that this company is starting to branch off every where you go. As for this location, you can definitely see some minor changes that set it off from the originals. As an avid SPoT Coffee customer, the first thing I noticed was the price hikes on everything they sold at this location. Normally I order a ‘Grande House’ which is a ‘medium coffee’ in normal people lingo. Typically that always comes out to $ 2.12 or $ 1.08 if it’s a refill. At this location it was a couple cents higher, but nothing that would break my coffee spending budget. A new trend I’ve started to notice at the newer SPoT Coffee locations(Main St, Hertel Ave, Transit Rd) are their lack of outlets. SPoT Coffee on Delaware and Elmwood are known for their leisurely seating where people go to study, read, and work on their computer. The problem with the newer locations are that it can turn into a battle royale for an outlet because they lack so many. Transit Rd has to be the main culprit in the 3 new locations though. I found a whopping 4 available power outlets. Seating has become another problem with these newer locations. These new SPoT Coffees are generally smaller than their older counterparts which means a more tighter space and less chances of having available seating. Sure the new fireplace added to all three locations is a nice touch, but let’s face it, who the hell cares if that meant we could have one more power outlet? The seating at the Transit Rd location is very awkward and limited. The bar stool seating is almost directly in front of you when you walk in, allowing for all the wind to come on it and make a mess out of things. There are only about 15 tables in the whole place and some of them are already lopsided. The chairs at this SPoT feel very cheap compared to all the other locations. SPoT Coffee houses are also known for their huge murals on the wall… when it comes to Transit, don’t expect to be blown away and staring at them to take in every little detail. Transit’s is very plain, small, and almost forgettable. I actually found staring at the menu to be more mesmerizing than the mural. The employees are nice and always attentive to the customers. SPoT Coffee workers are usually the nicest people you’ll meet in food service and I always try to tip when I can. The only bright side about this location is that it’s hardly ever packed unlike all the other locations. This is the main reason for me saying it’s not the worst, aside from all the negative things I’ve been listing. I’d rather go to a downgraded SPoT Coffee where I know I’ll always get seating, than drive from location to location because their packed to the brim of people. If you live in the general area of this SPoT Coffee, it’ll do. Don’t go out of your way if you only want coffee and a quiet night. Especially since the next closest one is the one on Main St. in Williamsville, which I consider the worst and to be avoided at all costs.
