Tried firehouse today for the first time, I was pleased the restaurant was clean, staff friendly, my hubby couldn’t stop watching sports on their 32 in tvs that were hanging. Will visit again

I’m not typically a huge fan of chains, but I do enjoy Firehouse Subs. Every time I have had a sub, it has been pretty good. The ingredients seem to be fresh and the bread is delicious. I like the options that the coke freestyle machine provides. I am a chili head, so the wide variety of hot sauces certainly doesn’t hurt. Try it out, it won’t be the best sub you’ve ever had, but you certainly won’t be disappointed either.

This is not the worst place I’ve eat at– and it’s not the best either! I would say it’s on par with the subways chain. If you happen to be close by– starved outta your mind– yes stop! If your 40 miles away– I would not make a special trip! Meatball sub– frozen meatballs– no taste cheese– and hot air roll– cut«v» style so you have to eat it like a Danish pastry! Uggg!

I am a big fan of Firehouse Subs! I do not think I would have ever known about it if I had not donated blood and gotten a coupon for a free sub. However, there is not one near Kenmore/Tonawanda, so maybe they send out advertisements in their area. I do not know. I have only gotten the roast beef sub with the horseradish mayo and lettuce/tomato/crunchy onions, but it is splendid! The roll is great, and the half sub is enough for 2 meals for me(most of the time). I also like that the half sub comes with a pickle. Nom nom. Additionally, they have a large selection of hot sauces up at the counter. I have not tried any, but I noticed that they were available. The menu seems a bit daunting when you walk in, because it is printed in a small font and there are a lot of options. However, just take your time looking at it and step up to the counter when you are ready! If your order is to be eaten on location, they will bring it to whichever table you choose to sit at. Enjoy the décor while you are waiting! It is neat. t

Lovin’ Spoonful(AKA Norb has opinions on everything Restaurant Division:) It’s been a while since I posted a review of a new restaurant, that’s because we have been celebrating a few important milestones in our lives and wanted to go to places we were familiar with. They are comfortable, we know the staff and we like the food. This month we went to The Hilltop, and Mericana to celebrate our 46 years of marriage. We also went to Mighty Taco to celebrate my remission from cancer. We made a trip to CW’s Pub with our daughter, a trip to Burger King with the twins a visit to Ted’s Hot Dogs and a breakfast at Lockport Hospital. Tuesday, we went to my oncologist in Williamsville for a checkup. When we went to him previously we used to stop at an unnamed Mexican restaurant and then shopped at BJ’s. Unfortunately, due to the unnamed Mexican restaurant’s lack of adequate response to a complaint I had other than to say they were sorry we caught them on a bad day(NOT my problem), they are now dead to me so we had to search for a new place to eat. We shopped at BJ’s and on our way home we searched for a place to get dinner. I had seen Firehouse Subs, 5205 Transit Rd. Williamsville, NY14221 on our trips to Williamsville and decided to give then a try. They have an easy access from the BJ’s parking lot. One nice thing is they have a parking in front and back, both of which have handicapped parking. A bit of background on them. Firehouse subs was started over 10 years ago by 2 brothers, Chris Sorensen & Robin Sorensen, who were firemen. Their mind set is reflected on their website. I quote,” People come back when they’re treated well and fed well. Turns out, people absolutely LOVE the same things we do — the best meats, cheeses, and toppings we can find… People come back again and again because, unlike other sub places, we steam our meats and cheeses, releasing a rush of flavors, then stuff a serving that’s way over code on one of our toasted private-recipe sub rolls. It’s a winning combination that satisfies ravenous appetites and the value-conscious alike”. Donna and I split the Italian which is a Genoa salami, pepperoni, Virginia honey ham, melted provolone, Italian dressing, and seasonings, served«Fully Involved». Their definition of «Fully Involved» means loaded complete with mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a kosher dill pickle on the side I added black olives and hot peppers. This cost $ 7.99 which wasn’t outrageous. The roll, although toasted, was soft not hard. We got it to go because we had bought some frozen foods at BJ’s and we didn’t want them to thaw out. Getting it to go was a mistake because it was a hot sub and we decided it would be better warm. One thing I noticed and appreciated was the sub was in a plain brown paper bag, not some custom printed razzle dazzle, loaded with advertising one. We ended up eating it in her van in the parking lot. This sub is definitely a 2 hander. Once you pick it up, you can’t put it down till you are finished. Have them salt and pepper it when they are making it if you need these because once it is made, you won’t be able to open it up. I didn’t think it needed anything else except for several napkins. OMG this had to be the best sub I had in quite some time. Donna said it WAS the best sub she has ever had. WEWILLBEBACKANDSOON! They get an unbelievably high 9.5 out of 10.

It was my first experience and I felt the workers were sweet and were very helpful and considerate. I was in a state of needing to eat anything so I got a turkey bacon ranch and it was decent, not my favorite though. I did however try my hubby’s cheese steak and it was ANAZING! I know what to get next time. The rating I’d a 3 this time only because their soda machine was not working well and I was dying for their cherry limeade, which is one of my very favorite drinks of all time, but couldn’t get it that time and I wasn’t crazy about my sandwich. I will get my own cheese steak next time and a cherry limeade and let you know what my next rating is. I loved the atmosphere especially the pictures the kids color. I got a good chuckle out of girls rule and Boys drool. Anyways, check it out yourself. It has a great feel to the place and sooooo many types of hot sauses to appease anyone’s level of the scoalval scores, from 0 to 10 I believe. So go check it out!

Firehouse subs is great! They have a variety of hot and cold options. It’s a nice break from the more traditional sub options. The management here is great not just to the customers, but the employees as well!

I’m tend to shy away from chains, but Firehouse has great subs. Whenever I’m out on Transit I stop here for lunch. Staff is always super friendly and helpful here. Last time I was there I noticed little table for kids to sit at and color and such. I wish there was a location closer to Buffalo.

Good food, good service, great for a quick lunch and also is pretty cheap considering you get a sub, chips and a drink for a reasonable price.

Nice clean place, excellent staff. They bring your food out after you order at the counter. Love the 25 plus hot sauce choices. Got the number 7 steak and cheese and the bun was toasted just right and the sandwhich overall was fresh and tasty. The medium combo comes with a drink the size of a big gulp. Always love the soda machine where you mix flavors into standard flavors. Overall a good place for sure.

It’s clean and bright and as cute as can be in here. I totally love the firehouse theme! And, there are lots and lots of choices and everything is customizable. I chose the chicken salad on a whole wheat roll with lots and lots of fresh tasting veggies. It was just so-so. A bit bland, actually. I much prefer the subs at Wegman’s and DiBellas. My favorite part of the experience was the soda machine with which you can make hundreds of customizable beverages.

Fire in the disco! Fire in the disco! Fire in the Taco Bell! Fire in the Firehouse Subs & Chili! The Chili, the Chili, the Chili’s on fire! We don’t need no water let that spicy Chili burn! Burn, Chili, burn! Burn, mother hubbard, sat in a cupboard, eating her curds & whey. Okay I’ve lost myself. I may need to visit the Dalai Llama(the Lord of the Alpacas) in an attempt to find myself. So back to the real world. Firehouse. Good Chili, decent but oddly small and unusual sandwiches. I quite like this place, even though it’s a chain, and the Chili is definitely pretty good. It’s an unusual place, it seems to do okay, I wonder if the business is going to stick around since it’s usually pretty quiet. I pop in for Chili there once in awhile, but I’m not crazy about their itty bitty teeny weeny bikini sandwiches. My friend, though, thinks the sandwiches are bombtastic. So you might want to try them to see if they are to your taste. Don’t expect them to be «Fucillo Huge» though. Or even decent sized. Unless you’re European. In which case this would qualify as enormous. Yes I’m still talking about the sandwiches.

I went to Firehouse Subs for lunch to see how they compared to other chain sub shops. I ordered a steak and cheese sub. It tasted very good, but the first thing I noticed when I picked it up was how light it was. This was not a hearty sub. The taste was better than Subway, but it seems that even Subway gives you more bang for the buck as far as how much meat you get. And that isn’t saying much. I was hoping it would be more like DiBello’s, who gives you FAR more for your money than Firehouse, and less like Subway, but in all honesty, it was a step above Subway in taste but a step below Subway in value. I will go back and try a cold cut sub to see if it was just the Steak sub that has skimpy amounts of meat.

I first came across this place driving down transit road en route to Lowes. I was hungry, so I figured I’d stop in and try it. The first thing I noticed was the place was very clean. Very. My mother in law would be proud. The second thing I noticed was the staff was very friendly, but without being the weird zombie-like over friendly servers you find some places. I ordered a New York Steamer combo, the corned beef, pastrami, and provolone one. This I got with some chips. One of the best parts is that you get what drink you want yourself, with the magical coke freestyle machine. This baby has a touch screen allowing you to choose from a plethora of drinks to your liking. Of course I tried the special cherry lime aid. After paying(about eight bucks for a ton of food) I sat down to feast. Holy shit it was so good. The meat was flavorful, the cheese was melts, and the drink was refreshing. Since that memorable first experience, I’ve been to firehouse dozens of times. The NYS is my favorite, but the cheddar beef brisket is a close second. Go here. Now. Like, stop reading and go. I mean it.

Had the pleasure of enjoying a few subs from this joint a few times after studying at the Spot Coffee next door. At first, I was expecting just another run of the mill sub place from just inspecting it from the outside, but this place does have a few unique qualities to it. One of the first things that I noticed was the wide variety of hot sauces they had on the counter. They rate their hot sauces in order of spiciness which is nice for picking out the right level of heat(although I maintain that their subs don’t necessarily need hot sauce to be flavorful). All of their subs are hot/toasted subs which is nice on a cold day. I recommend going with the New York Steamer. It is definitely worth a try. The meat was very juicy and flavorful — and not else was really needed in terms of flavor because they had marinated the meat. They also have one of those fancy soda machines with 100+ variations of different soft drinks that you can select off of a touch screen which is kind of fun(but the quality of the soda is not that great — it tastes a little too syrupy for my liking). All in all though, I would definitely go back again for more subs. The space itself is nothing spectacular, and they are usually playing sports on their TVs, but their subs will bring me back.

I really like the subs at Firehouse. First of all, the place is new, clean and well kept. Secondly, their subs are delicious. There’s a good balance of meat and veggies with enough options to keep most sandwich lovers satisfied. The bread here is well made and the service is very good. The last time I was here, the manager(or owner) was very friendly and accommodated my request in ordering 10 subs and hooked us up with some drinks and such. One of the best things is that they have a large selection of sauces rated 1 – 10. 10 being very hot and 1 being mild. I like using a variety of sauces but I average about a 7 for comfort and taste. They also have one of those newer soda machines that’s pretty niffy. But since I’m not a huge fan of sodas, not a big deal for me. Anyway, definitely give this place a visit and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

Driving down Transit today I noticed a very familiar sign on the side of the road. We have a FIREHOUSESUBS??? Ohhhhhh I have missed you!!! I began my love affair with Firehouse in Florida. I moved to New York in 2008 and I STILL dream about their sandwiches. How sad is that? Eating at Subway or Wegmans just makes me miss Firehouse. I made sure to stop here on my way back for dinner. I had guarded hopes that this Firehouse would be as good as my memories from Florida. I cautiously looked over the menu which has changed a little bit in the past couple of years, and boldly ordered the fire pit roasted cheddar brisket. YUMMMMMMMM! I am still in love and sooo glad to see the franchise made it safely up the coast. I just wish Transit was a little closer.

It was started by two firemen and hence the name! First chain to open in East coast and its right here on transit. Its mostly in south. The key differences of this palce from Subway is the veggies are grilled, the sub is toasted with cheese and meats and they have more flavor to them with their special mayo. You also get to pick your own hot suace from the bottles kept in condiments. They rate from 1 — 10 on scale of heat. But to me 9 was very mild being from Indian spicy level but i still can’t take Duff’s wings heat. Overall its a good eat!

Firehouse Subs turns out a great product and has a really fun atmosphere. I used to frequent my local Firehouse Subs in Lakewood, CO and really liked it so I was super happy when I heard Clarence was getting a Firehouse! Their sub rolls are fresh and delicious, they use Boar’s Head cold cuts, and they have a really cool digital drink machine with ENDLESS diet options. LOVE. I had the #9, Firehouse Hero with ham, turkey, and roast beef on white. It was a really good quality, tasty sub and just writing this review is making want another. So glad this shop has opened up. I hope more people head on over and sample the goods!
