You don’t need to go to Napa to find a nice winery. The land here has been in the Bogle family for six generations and has been a vineyard since 1992. I’ve been a Bogle fan since I first sipped their Essential Red last year and wanted to go to the source. So, we rented a car and drove from San Francisco through the Delta on a warm, sunny Saturday afternoon. We liked every wine we sampled and bought a few that were new to us: Petite Sirah Rose and 2012 Phantom. The grounds are really pretty with lots of places to sit and chill out(have a picnic if you wish). Join the Bandwagon Club and get discounts on wines(some that are only available to Bandwagon members) and event tickets throughout the year. *Check their website to see what states they can ship wine to. I’m happy that they *do* ship to NY. Weeeee!

For an absolutely perfect afternoon, bring a blanket, pack some brie and french bread and buy the Chardonnay. Picnics at Bogle might be my favorite weekend activity. This place makes me proud to live in Sacramento.

The only place in we found in Clarksburg that doesn’t charge for wine tasting! Even if they did, we would of went anyways as this was my mothers all time favorite wine! So as it was mothers day, I made it happen just for her! This is a beautiful facility with plenty of charm! I saw families bring picnic baskets and lounge out in their beautiful lawn! What a great idea! We were the first ones to arrive, So there was no line for us! We got right in and started the tastings! Unfortunately i couldn’t have much as i was the designated driver for my mom and grandma! This was their day and i enjoyed watching them enjoy themselves care free! My mom tried all the reds and my grandma tried all the ports! So many options! In the end i bought my mom a bottle of the pinot and my grandma a bottle of the port! I highly recommend a trip out here to anyone! it’s slightly off the beaten path, Just as your about to get there you start to question yourself as to whether you made a wrong turn somewhere! lol. Keep going your almost there!

Sacramento, we are lucky. It’s a beautiful, short to drive to a picturesque vineyard paradise where they feed you delicious wine and don’t mind if you bring your own picnic. Seriously, what more could you want? I am not a member yet, but have been several times with friends who are members, and on their open house tasting days. I think my next step is to become a member so I’ll have an excuse to drive out here and get tipsy more often. The employees are super nice, the venue is gorgeous, and the wine they sell is cheap! Some wineries try to jack up the price at the winery like you’re buying a freakin’ shirt at a concert — not Bogle! I especially like the Old Vine Zin or the Chardonnay. If you don’t think ahead to bring your own food, they do have a couple crackers and cheese type snacks available, but nothing substantial. It’s a better idea to bring your own sandwiches or something. Love it, hope to be back soon!
