A CUSTOMERWASSLAPPED… So no stars for my first visit as a new resident of Clayton. An older gentlemen and his mother came in. The mother had dementia and was constantly taking to the older guy making coffee. This seemed to bother him immensely, her son came too close to the side of the coffee bar to explain what she said(different language) and the worker smacked his arms away. OMG I was stunned. You shouldn’t even be able to have a business. Never ever again. If I was that guy I would have dipped him on his head. I had to give it one star to post this. Should have a no star option.

Positively adorable. Very European. Oh so cozy. Great prices for the verity of goods; coffee, teas, fraps, whole fruit smoothies, candy, baked goods, Ice cream, ect.) there is a quaint children’s room in the back, lulling classical music and every bit of interior looks as though is been transported from the Netherlands. I could kick myself for forgetting my book. Scrumptious toffee coffee frap This seems like a place where you can go to feel completely undisturbed and can zone into your own space. I feel the owner is not from here, and simply just not that talkative of a person, and I welcome that in a calm atmosphere. Also if you have ever in your life been to an actual coffee shoppe in Europe, you would know this is considered«polite» demeanor.

Tasty drinks, relaxy atmosphere, play room for kids, chairs around fireplace. Like cozy living room. Grumpy cashier and restroom ruined my five, it is why only 4.

Been here twice now, and that was enough. Drinks are fine but the man serving them so unfriendly and it’s taken 15 minutes(or more!) both times to receive something as simple as a hot tea and pastry. Food not good at all. Sad because the place is super cute inside and would be a great little place to go in Clayton but it’s not worth it at all!

Coffee is great, the service not so much. The gentleman behind the counter barely makes eye contact and never smiles. Also closes early regularly so watch out for that, call before you go in.

I really hate to leave a bad review for a small business. I consider myself easy-to-please and am pretty forgiving of indie shops’ flaws… But I just can’t do it with this place. I am no coffee snob but every time I come here I have to admit that my drink tastes terrible. I once took 2 friends here from out of town and I actually had to apologize to them for their poor experience. The bar setup is also a bit bizarre and I always have concerns about cleanliness… I wish we Clayton-ites had another coffee option downtown, as I think having some healthy competition would help Cup-O-Jo raise its game. Also… no wifi access– a major bummer.

What a neat independent coffee house! We went to the Clayton Farmers Market next door and heard the live music nearby at Cup O’ Jo’s down the street. We decided to stop by to grab some coffee and relax a bit to enjoy the acoustic guitar player gentleman just outside. He had a nice voice playing a mix of older and newer pop and country songs. The coffee was excellent and the vibe was laid back, casual, and perfect for a lazy Saturday morning. The inside ambiance was also very nice, cozy, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and courteous. We’ll definitely be back again before the Farmers Market closes this Fall.

I agree with other reviewer’s complaints about not enough hours and unenthusiastic service but the overall star rating is way too low for the quality of the coffee. I am picky about my coffee and finding a place in the area besides peets or starbucks is awesome. The atmosphere inside is cozy and bigger than it seems from the outside. A teeny downtown like Clayton’s is lucky to have such a good coffee place. I do wish it had longer hours and was open Sunday’s but I think good reviews is the way to make that happen, not bad ones :)

Such a cute coffee shop. But«Jo» completely ignored me and waited on the next 2 male customers that came after me. Ok, I’ll let that one go because it’s such a cute place but sexist a little owner???

Great café! Quality of the latte that I got exceeded my expectation. Well balanced yet flavorful. And the atmosphere is quaint and well furnished.

I’m a fan of this place … The coffee was pretty good, better than peets or Starbucks, and I’m a bit of a coffee snob. But what made it 5 stars was the cute atmosphere inside and the greeting by the two working there. The place has a play area for kids which is awesome with trains, books, coloring, chalkboard walls, and more. The place has a fireplace and feels like a living room … You want to curl up, sip your coffee, and read a book. I love these kind of places. The people were super friendly and loved chatting it up with them. Small local place for you and you kid or kids or friends to hang out. All smiles

Went in and they were slow. Got an iced coffee && it was terrible. Go down the street and get Starbucks. The cup was have the size of a Venti for more than a Venti iced coffee at Starbucks. And te coffee tasted like water with milk.

I hate doing bad reviews but this coffee shop is just awful. I love supporting local businesses but this one is not on the list. Guy in front is not very accommodating. He has a permanent frown. Slow service. I understand if your product is good and your service is not the best. Will probably go back. But if your service is already bad as well as your coffee then that is a whole different story.

I went in there today for a hot chocolate. Wow is it delicious! The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is the barista/owner didn’t seem all that friendly. Either he’s not big on customers or very shy. Otherwise, I recommend.

Closed on Sundays? Really? Like many people the only times I can go relax at a coffeehouse are the weekends. No decent coffee place should be closed on Sundays. Ironically they have a «people love us on Unilocal!» sticker on their door. Lol, apparently the owner never bothers to read Unilocal reviews of his place.

Cozy? Maybe. Cold customer service? Yes. Good coffee? Meh. It’s coffee. Nothing to write home about and the apt name«Cup O’ Joe» pretty much sums it up. If you’re a Clayton local this place is probably nice to have around but, speaking as someone that was visiting Clayton this place fell well below the bar.

Stopped by this darling coffee house a few weeks ago. I fell in love with it… wish I could live in a house with an interior like that! Very warm and inviting. Normally a coffee drinker, I ordered one of the black teas instead. Quite good. The proprietor was extremely gracious. I have never been to Clayton before but will happily return if only to go to Cup O’Jo!

I was very disappointed with Cup O’ Jo. I love the town of Clayton and want to support local shops but I can pretty much guarantee that after my experience, I won’t be back. My mom and I stopped by here on a Thursday morning. Once you walk inside, there is an assortment of of nick nacks and coffee and non-coffee shop related items. It was on the verge of clutter. The place looked like it needed to be cleaned up a bit and was very dimly lit to almost too dark once you were inside. They have tables and chairs as well as a kids corner with book and games and a few leather chairs near a faux fire place. I could have overlooked the bad if the service was good which it was not We walked up to the counter and they have an assortment of «fresh» pastries and bagels. It looked like they had been sitting there for awhile. Dry and crumbly. The barista behind the counter didn’t even look up from what he was doing and asked«what do you want» I ordered a peppermint green tea and my mom ordered a latte for here. It was about $ 7(kind of pricey) but since we were going to stay and enjoy out drinks, they would at least come in mugs, right? WRONG they were served in «to-go» cups which wouldn’t normally bother me but we just wanted to sit and chat and enjoy our time and i felt like it would just be better if we left sorry Cup O’ JO. Better customer service is needed if you want you locals to stay loyal

Good coffee. As an out of town visitor, everyone was very welcoming. This appears to be a popular hangout for the locals. Pet friendly. Overall a nice stop!
