Food is good, price is reasonable especially for clayton. Although they have been consistently changing chefs, I still like the idea of different changing menu and styles of cooking. I like in particular the food that their Jamaican chef make. Not sure if he is still there but great food coming out from the kitchen when I was there. I really like the interior of the restaurant, warm and cozy. The owner moves from one table to the other to chit chat it is kinda like an intimate homey feel bar and restaurant which i think they are trying to promote considering that most of their patrons are local. Most importantly though they probably need someone to constantly check the food coming out from the kitchen, making it sure it is serve hot when it has too like the soup for instance and delivered at the table fast. The manager could be that person hah!!! The wait staff are attentive. Tommy was a great waiter, very knowledgable but the last time i heard he resigned! At the end of the day I would rather bring in my friends here than #mannings restaurant. I wish their location was in main street clayton to pumped up that dying town!!!

This is a hidden gem in Clayton! The atmosphere is very upscale and cozy. The shrimp jambalaya is spicy enough to wake up your mouth but not so spicy that it wakes you up in the middle of the night. The desserts are worth a visit all on their own. The waitstaff are friendly and personable. They also make sure if you’re pressed for time, that other diners requirements and the kitchen are also managed to keep you on track. Do your part and allow enough time because even tho’ this is heavenly, there are limits on miracles! And to the reviewer that timed them on a Saturday night — most folks who go out to eat in Clayton are letting that be the pinnacle of their evening and appreciate not being rushed thru the experience: next time go find a food truck. I find the pacing of service to be exactly what I want in an upscale meal.

I’ve gone to Skylines since it changed hands years ago, so I’ve given it more than a few tries. My observations are as follows: 1) The food is generally good 2) The portions are generally small-modest(If you’re 6’2″ and 190 like I am, you’ll likely be hungry after a typical entrée. 3) The service is atrocious. My wife and I were there last night to give it ONE more try. Since I know the service is slow, I watched the clock. –5 min to get seated(even though it was half empty) –10 min to get food and drink order –10 more min to get drinks –30 more min to get food. — 55 min from entry to eating. This is not abnormal. I watched the table next to me. It took them 20 min for someone to pick up their CC to pay the tab. It’s always like this. It’s a shame. Clayton need some good dining. Skylines is a nice place, with generally friendly staff, but their service is beyond slow. Always beyond slow. If you’re not hungry and very patient, try Skylines.

BESTOVERALLRESTAURANTINCLAYTON. If you are looking for nice, clean restaurant that serves decent American food and has a classy bar area, this is just about the only place in town. For a cold beer or a martini, a nice appetizer and a satisfying entrée, this is the place to go. Their wine selection is always pretty good too! I have had maybe two dozen meals from this restaurant. Half as take-out lunch boxes and half as sit-down lunches or dinners. Overall the food is well above average and you will leave happy. There have been a couple times over the years where one person or another was not happy with the food, but the owner seems to always be in the restaurant, and she has always made things right if we were not satisfied. That counts for a lot! *** My favorite lunch is their crab cake sandwich with slaw and a side of fruit. It makes for a very nice, light lunch and the price is very reasonable. *** At dinner they always seem to have a creative soup. They mostly hit their mark and are usually quite delicious.

If you’re looking for a CLEAN, casual dining experience … You’ve found it! The wait staff is personable, professional and knowledgeable. The menu is varied and very well priced! We’re looking forward to our next visit, which may well be for Sunday brunch! We are so glad we took the recommendation from our friends to try Skyline Café!

Great meal. The tomato basil soup was a tad spicy for the hubby. I enjoyed the calamari and the turkey wrap. Not too big of oortion sizes, but not too small-just right for us. Server was a pleasure!

The food is fantastic! Clayton doesn’t have much in the way of creative upscale dining, but this place picks up the slack. The calamari is the best I’ve ever had. Not overly breaded, topped with an amazing balsamic glaze that will make your eyes roll back. Love that stuff! The ahi tuna is fresh and perfect. So refreshing to visit home, and stop by this gem.

We have eaten here about once a month over the past year with party sizes of 2 through 8. It is our favorite restaurant in Clayton. The food is consistently good. We’ve had most dishes on the menu and been happy with them. The service is very friendly and usually well-timed, but sometimes can be a bit slow. Kid friendly. Our favorites are the filet mignon, stuffed chicken, jambalaya, salads, and soups. I recommend that they improve their red wine selection and change up the menu more frequently.

My husband called to see if they were open for New Year’s Eve, the lady(we think is the owner) was pleasant and warned us that we might not get a table reservation until after a certain time. We only wanted to have a couple of drinks at the bar, so we went. We thought that was the nicest part of our whole experience, so we rated them two stars instead of one. We got there and it was full of people. The two people who grunted in response to our presence were constantly in search of someone from a dinner party, and we hated to take their precious time so we went to the bar. It was pretty crowded there too, so we understood if the service was slow. But when I tried to order a couple of glasses of wine, the trouble started. They touted their wines selection on their website, but never having been there I wanted to make sure we could get it at the bar. It’s probably my fault for being a country girl that doesn’t get out much, but the bartender didn’t have to get an attitude with me for asking if they(the bar) served wine. She made sure to raise her eyebrows extra-high and jerk her head while spitting out«Uh – yeah.» in an exasperated Valley Girl tone in response to that simple question. It was bad enough that every person in that place greeted us with«yeah?», but I was especially put off by her attitude. It got worse when I went to pay. I had a menu in one hand an a glass in the other so I set the menu down on the bar and set the wine glass on top. Just for a second, so I could sign my receipt. It took the bartender 5 minutes to notice us but just 2 seconds before she noticed my massive faux pas. She whisked my glass off the menu and took my menu away, muttering something about«don’t put the wine there», and then returned to whatever she’d been doing. In summary, from the moment we got there, we wanted to leave and never return. We brought my mom for her birthday and it was embarassing that people treated us so rudely.

Not sure what has happened to this place but it’s not as good as it once was. Chicken Chili was cold and dry like paste. Owner was nice about it and took it off the bill. I was alarmed when she said it dries out and they have to keep adding stock to it through the day. That tells me it wasn’t fresh. Shrimp and scallop linguini was ok. Not great, but ok.(Not worth $ 19.) I only chose it because nothing on the menu really grabbed me. My wife had the salmon, it was cold. This used to be one of the finest restaurants in Clayton. Now it’s just ok.

Party of three. Had the balsamic calamari, which was tasty, but again slightly undercooked. The fried pickles were cooked perfect with a pair of delicious sauces. I had the shrimp & scallop with linguini but substituted the marinara for garlic & oil. I was a little disappointed as it lacked the garlic flavor I craved, but I thought the oil was pretty good. Wife loved the salmon with sun dried tomatoes. The menu I feel has to changed somewhat as it was the same last time I was there & nothing really grabbed me as to what I wanted, thus the substitute. Good friendly service here.

Love this place for lunch and their catering. Great sandwiches and salads. The best in town. Had the seared tuna on salad last time I went. It was great. Their crab cakes are also great.
