Delicious, friendly service, and I was able to order vegan tacos. Yay!
The salsas are delicious and the burritos are ginormous and filling!
The indoor décor is fun and there is outdoor seating as well.
A Tex-​mex gem in Clearlake.

Love this place!!! Been coming here for years, and never fail to have a great reasonably priced meal. Plus the salsa bar is amazing!

Came to Lake County for a week, found this little gem on day one and went three tims in one week. Robert is awesome and makes a great margarita especially the tamarindo. Best carnitas I have ever eaten.

Oh Cactus Grill. I had such hopes for you. The first time I ate at your restaurant I was really impressed with my Chimichanga plate. Yesterday morning I stopped to pick up a carnitas burrito to go and was really disappointed that the carnitas meat was dry and crispy. You had just opened for business. The flavor was very good but the meat was hard to chew. I won’t count you out just yet and I’ll give you another try because the restaurant owners and staff are just awesome people and they deserve another chance from me.

I had the carnitas plate and it was delicious! The carnitas was perfectly deep fried, not too crispy, but just enough crisp and not dry at all. The black beans were nicly flavored and complemented the dish. The chips for the table tasted stale, but I could see them deep frying fresh ones. I wonder if the oil had an odd flavor to it to make them taste that way.
The service was excellent, very attentive.

I’m long overdue to review this fine little Mexican eatery. I’ve been dining here since it opened and can say with certainty it is clearly the best, most creative, most sophisticated Mexican restaurant in Lake County. And I’ve tried them all multiple times.
The owners, Chef Roberto «Beto» and Amy (and their kids) are natives of Puerto Vallarta and serve up recipes inspired from that more sophisticated region of Jalisco’s Costa Alegre.
Big, beautiful tropical salads with mango dressing, fresh crab quesadillas, black beans or pinto, huge, colorful fajita plates with grilled fresh vegetables and a deliriously divine garlic shrimp platter with a generous base of garlicky, salty/​buttery shrimp ridden sauce. Just what big fat prawns like. This «Camarones al Mojo de Ajo» platter is my go to dish here and a must try if you love prawns.
Also popular and definitely worth considering is their crab enchilada platter and their grilled marinated beef fajita platter. Generous, thick meat strips, grilled to order with fresh grilled veggies. For all these and the usual combination plates, the accompanying guacamole, rice and beans (either pinto or black, your choice) are the best around.
They provide a salsa bar with several fresh selections of the more authentic interior Mexican genre but sadly not a fresh tomato/​onion/​garlic/​lime/​jalepeno/​habenero Salsa al Charra. Which is strange because they grill off veggies there all the time and it would be easy for them to blend one up.
Wine and beer only but good selection. Nice, shaded outdoor dining area. Service is always prompt, professional and pleasant. Food quality and presentation is consistently high with very little variation over the years I’ve dined there.
If you’re in or around Lake County and Mexican sounds good, you won’t find any better south of the border fare than Cactus Grill.

I have to admit, I have never had anything here but the Fresh Mex Salad with grilled prawns. Been coming here for years and it is always so fresh and delicious I can never seem to make myself order anything else. It is the best salad I have ever had. The prawns are huge and delicious and the dressings are out of this world! They have a wonderful salsa bar and the employees are so nice! This is the best place to eat in Clearlake!

Had the paella burrito and asked for it to be spicy and they delivered perfectly! First time I’ve ever found a paella burrito anywhere and yet it makes so much sense.

Wow this small place has great food. I suggest the crab quesadilla and a shrimp taco. The group I was with all loved their food.

Being from Los Angeles, it’s quite easy to find good Mexican food. Cactus Grill has been one of the best tacos I have had anywhere. Delicious and extremely fresh fish in all the seafood tacos. Excellent crab quesadilla, service and everything in between. A must visit location if visiting the area or driving by.

Nice place. Nice clientele. We will be back. This place seems to be consistently good every time I eat here. Last time I was here was over a year ago. It is nice to come and have a great meal. There chicken is very fresh. Our waiter went out of his way for us. I left him a good tip, he deserved it. I’ll be back.

Came to visit Clear Lake and realized there is not much to eat here for a cheap price. Seeing all these great reviews we came here to get some good food.
DID NOT HAPPEN! Not sure if it was just a bad night for the cooks or what but the food/​drinks were horrible.
The Margarita was not real– it was all the mix which is just gross
The Portobello Quesadilla was horrible!- the mushrooms were sour! only means one thing– rotten/​bad
Also had the Enchiladas with rice and beans. The beans were very hard and sour= rotten/​bad. Also while eating the rice I ate something very smushy and slimy… thats when I stopped eating.

This is our go to place for Mexican Take Out! The Quesidillas are great. I’m addicted to their rice. It is delicious! It’s always crowded at lunch time but their patio looks welcoming!

I have a home in Clearlake aNd coming from LA I need to hAve a good Mexican spot so I can get my burrito fix! Best Mexican in Clearlake ca and probably in all of Lake county. I take all my guest here for a hot plate and brew or a margarita. Also the whole staff are kind and sweet!

I started eating here when they first opened and I was working in Clearlake. I’ve always been a fan of their quesadillas and salads. I usually have a hard time choosing between the two. The portabello mushroom quesadilla is my favorite. It’s also huge and I usually can’t eat the whole thing in one sitting. The staff has always been friendly and is usually pretty attentive. The chips and salsa bar is great — if not a bit dangerous as I tend to eat far too many chips. I probably have had burritos here, since I could easily eat a burrito everyday. It must not have been anything great, though, since I don’t remember.
I do have to agree with another reviewer that the patio isn’t always well maintained.
If you’re in the Clearlake area and want something other than fast food, this is one of the better places to stop.

Probably biased because I’m from the area but their chili Colorado is the best I’ve had in a long time my wife and I go there often another great meal at the cactus Grill
