Comfort Inn Downtown

This hotel was a generally good experience for us. Check-​in seems a bit outdated as we had to fill out a guest information card with all my information. The front desk staff was nice though. For some reason my reservation was booked for a king bed instead of two double beds, which I needed, and Max was extremely helpful and we worked it out.
There was some confusion because I had to extend our original two day reservation to three days and it seems that it booked a completely new reservation. After a few calls back and forth to the hotel when we were out and about in Cleveland, Max got it all worked out. The continental breakfast wasn’t bad and this hotel is just a $ 5-​$ 7 Über ride to anywhere we were interested in going.
The room was clean and had plenty of plugs, but you can tell the hotel is a little old. The rooms are well kept though — no ODOR or STAINS like my last Comfort Inn stay in Maryland.

This is an older hotel but it looks like its been recently remodeled. Clean. The parking was a little hard because I have a Yukon and there is a basement parking area that was somewhat difficult to get into and out of. The front desk area was nice. There were two employees working. The female was nice enough. The gentleman, Ahmed, was sweet, he walked us to our room prior to check-​in so we could be sure the beds were going to be OK. (I can’t sleep on hard mattresses). There was a microwave and small fridge in the room. The TV was newer but a little small. It was also bolted down and couldn’t be moved, unfortunately it was closer to one of the beds than the other. The bathroom was a bit small. Couldn’t change your clothes in it! They did have a hair dryer and some small soaps, lotion, and shampoo. We weren’t there very long but we did manage to grab a bite to eat. The front desk gave us some menus to choose from. Not a lot of variety, Chinese or Pizza. Subway in the building. That first night we ordered takeout from a local Chinese food restaurant, and it was very good. The next morning we grabbed breakfast in the lobby area. It was OK. Same as most all other hotels, waffles, bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee, etc. We didn’t use it, but they do offer a shuttle to and from the Cleveland Clinic. Overall, not a bad hotel for the price.
Much better than the service down the road at the Hampton!

The Manager at this hotel was rude and mean as we discussed extra charges they were adding on to our bill he abruptly stopped and cancelled our reservation. when we tried to straiten out this issue he ignored us and said we are done. when we explained all the rooms were booked he said I don’t care. I have stayed at many of these hotels in the past this is the first time I was ever treated like this

This hotel is probably one the most horrible hotels I have ever stayed out. The front desk staff is not knowledge at all around charges or billing questions. The room is small and dark, everything seemed dirty and very old. My room looked out into the air conditioning unit and other rooms so I couldn’t keep the curtains open at all. The air conditioner in the room sounded like a lawn mower, and the toilet ran all night. The bedding and TV are new, but that’s about the only thing the room has going for it. I’m 5’2 and the shower was too short for me, and the bathroom was incredibly small. The last thing is the area, I wanted to take a walk at night and felt incredibly uncomfortable to do so, there was a lot of people hanging around the hotel that did not make it seem very safe. Also the «restaurants» advertised as part of the hotel are a subway and a Mexican takeout place. Stay anywhere but here!

This hotel is not bad at all for being downtown. They are remodeling the rooms so the linens, tvs, and bathrooms are new. The only thing dated in the room is lights and vanity and dressers but that did not affect my stay.
I am not a fan of the huge gap under the doors BC you can hear everyone in the halls. Also the windows are so thin they might as well not have any. If you stay here on a Thursday the worlds largest garbage truck will come by sounding like a monster. It was horrid at 5:30am.
The breakfast is great for being free but we did have a very rude group staying in our hotel w us so we felt like we were fighting for our lives for the free food. My husband and I started just teaming up at each end and getting whatever we could get.
The elevator is also pretty dated and needs a makeover.
Knowing this hotel is in the middle of a facelift give this place a try. Remember you are downtown do you can walk right to Playhouse square just a block away.

It was –12 degrees the week I arrived in Cleveland, and the local news was discouraging people from sleeping outside. I assumed a hotel was in my best intrest, so I decided to set myself up at the Comfort Inn.
There were several police in front of the hotel appon my arrival which eased my saftey concerns. The front desk immediately gave me an upgrade to a queen suit. Thinking back now I wonder if was I luckey, or was the queen suit a hilarious prank to pull on tired people from out of town? My room was oddly humid for February, but the living room/​bathroom was an architectural achievement. I’ve always wanted to sit on the toilet and stare at the living room tv. Luckily for privacy there was a shower curtain separating the bathroom from the living area instead of a pesky wall, so I could whisper to someone in the bedroom from the toilet if need be. The couch smelled like a Persian cologne salesman, but it was hard to make out over the constant smell of cheese comming from the pizza parlor next to the lobby. After surfing the 23 English speaking channels the tv had to offer, I decided to drink myself into a stupor and sleep on top of the covers in my clothes.
The hotel shuttle doesn’t run early in the morning, and I wanted to be late to the hospital so I asked the Maintenance/​Concierge/​Lot Attendant if he could call for a cab. Over an hour later an unmarked mini van was at my service. The cabbie was nice and asked. «Why didn’t you take the hotel shuttle?» After my hospital visit I called the Comfort Inn to see if the hotel shuttle would come and get me. After two short hours of staring into the parking lot and three frustrating phone calls with the front desk, I called for a cab. On the short ride back to an early checkout, the cab driver asked me. «Why didn’t you take the hotel shuttle?»
The Double Tree is a wonderful hotel and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting the Clevland Clinic.

If you enjoy sleep this is not the place for you. The staff nor the guests seem to sleep or care if anyone else within the hotel does either. staff stands outside smoking and yelling all night. guests run up and down the halls slamming doors and talking loudly. if you’re a partier thought you may really love it here.

This hotel will inspire two things that I detest: leaving one-​star Unilocal reviews and typing extended segments in ALL CAPS. I know that all caps is the INTERNET EQUIVALENT OF SCREAMING, but, you see, I am EXCEPTIONALLY ANGRY about MONEY BEING STOLEN FROM ME.
Priceline is partly to blame here, and I’ll contact them with my concerns, but when your two-​star hotel is listed in their Express Deals (a service through which one can book hotels by price, service level, and area without yet knowing the specific hotel) as «pet friendly,» one does not typically even consider a $ 100 NONREFUNDABLE SURCHARGE, for any stay, of any duration, with said pets to be included in this «pet friendly» definition. It was a $ 55-​a-​night room special, meaning that, in all seriousness, the nonrefundable incidental for traveling with my two small, harmless dogs who did not befoul or otherwise damage the room in any way was THE F*CKING EQUIVALENT OF TWO ADDITIONAL NIGHTS’ STAY.
So, besides the constant panhandling immediately outside the hotel door from vagrants staying at the adjacent Salvation Army shelter, the perpetual smell of Subway in the halls wafting up from the restaurant underneath the upper floors, the sealed-​off fire escape door on the ground floor (hello certain death in the event of a fire!), the exceptionally slow and useless wi-​fi, and the fact that COMFORT INN WILL STEAL $ 100 FROM YOU IF YOU ARE TRAVELING WITH PETS, this place was okay: nice room (with jacuzzi, min-​fridge and microwave), nice staff, continental breakfast with scrambled eggs included, and great location immediately on Playhouse Square.
But seriously, the hidden pet fee is utterly larcenous and unethical, a deal breaker in every conceivable way. If they can charge $ 100 on a $ 55 stay, what is the limit at which Priceline will de-​list them? $ 500? $ 1000? I adopted one of my dogs from the pound for less than what we were charged to keep them at this Comfort Inn for three days. I will probably investigate to see keeping this much additional cost below board is even legal.

I guess you get what you pay for but this hotel was awful. Dirty and smelled of cigarettes even though it’s supposedly 100% smoke free. In the «suites» and double rooms the bathroom has NO wall separating it from the rest of the room only a curtain. Not a family hotel.

It’s a hotel, nothing terribly special about it. The rooms are reasonable for downtown and smell a lot like subway (since it’s over a subway franchise).
What really made the difference for me was the staff. We’re in Cleveland because my father in law got hospitalized at the clinic. We found out after arriving that he’s being moved 30 miles away for rehabilitation, which puts him too far from our hotel. Reducing the duration of our stay was as pain free as positive. A+ to the desk staff for understanding the difficulties of medical emergencies and helping people out.

Internet was the stuff of 2003. Think barely works — if you need to do anything, go to the Starbucks down the street.
The room reeked of Subway sandwiches, that despite being on the fourth floor. Subway smells really nasty after a few minutes.
I also had to do some of my own cleaning when I got to the room. There was food left in the fridge and some sort of sticky syrup all over the desk.
Overall needs updating. Wallpaper peeling off walls — old carpet — old hotel.

For a Choice Hotel this one is okay for how old it is. I was super excited to see that I was within walking distance of the Indians ball park and downtown night life. My room was spacious and had a great view of the ball park, which was awesome to see the fireworks after the game ended. Beds were great with plenty of choices of pillows to choose from. Free Wi-​Fi, microwave and refrigerator was nice to have.
The place is old, so don’t expect much. Breakfast was something that I never skip… until I tried the free one here. Oh, stay away unless you just need a banana or yogurt.
I’m not sure if I would come back to this place. The most disappointing issue was the front desk customer service. Taking the customer service experience to a low is what I found here. Uninterested, non-​smiling, could care less about a Choice Hotel member is what I got from checking in and checking out. From staying at hundreds of other Choice Hotel brands over the years, I’m not used to that.
From handling my compliant that the sink was backing up with sewage water to my checking out being harassed by a large guy dressed in street clothes wondering why I needed my check out receipt. I mean the front desk worker was out of sight for a good five minutes while some random guy was hollering at me that my receipt should’ve been under the door. After waiting the good five minutes the front desk lady told me the same thing. I assured her that I didn’t see any receipt on the ground and I would still like one. Put out, she then told me that I didn’t get one because I booked it through a third party website. Hmm, I guess
is no longer their main website? You know what, just say opps, we forgot to get you your receipt. Thank you for being a loyal Choice Hotel customer. Please don’t lie to me cause you messed up. But that’s what she did. Just lied to me.
The sewage problem happens… but the customer service here is what dropped this place to 2 stars.

I always stay at the Comfort Inn Downtown when I come to Cleveland. They offer a great rate for patients of the Cleveland Clinic.
The hotel is close to the clinic and even offers a shuttle to and from the clinic. The drivers are all very nice.
The hotel offers your pretty basic breakfast. Cereals pastries eggs and fruits. Of course some juices and coffee.
The beds have all been comfy to my standards. They give you both soft and firm pillows which is nice.
The front hotel staff is always friendly as well.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming into the Cleveland area. It’s also close to the trolly stop so you can take the free trolly to get to the heart of the city.
I look forward to my visits here ;)

The experience was absolutely awful. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK!
The room was VERY expensive for what it was.
The room was dirty – there was a pubic hair in my tub among other things.
The room and facility was old and dingy.
When i turned down the sheets before going to bed there were blood stains – dots of old blood– all over the bed – VERY SUSPICIOUS FOR BED BUGS!
When I called to inquire they not only avoided the question, but it took them at least an hour to remedy the situation. There was no one to change the sheets so they finally allowed me to switch rooms. I spoke to the manager after my stay about the horrible experience and he DID NOT DO ONE thing for me-​VERY unaccommodating and rude! It would have been worth it to spend $ 20 more to stay at a slightly nicer hotel. I WILL NOT be going back!

Everything was very old except for the flat screen tv, but it had poor cable reception.
There is only one computer at the business center that you have to pay to use and to print. There was a free option to print your boarding pass but it didn’t work. Limited parking that is not free and sometimes park in the basement and walk up through the ramp.
The bathroom has no tub, just a shower.
The good things are its location, adequate space in the room, tabletop power outlets for your electronics.
It was clean except for the ice from the machine that came out dirty.

It’s honestly exactly what you’d think. A no frills cheap stay.
Was the bed the comfiest bed ever? No, but it wasn’t horrible. Was there a spa tub? Heck no! But it was clean, so I appreciate that. Is there a bumpin’ trendy lounge? Only if you count the bumpin free breakfast bar… which was made great only because of the make your own waffles, with strawberry and blueberry flavors!
But, it was cheap and easy to get to Progressive Field. Only a couple blocks walk. It’s not a bad walk either because you can walk through the Cleve’s theater district. If you want something über close to the field, this may not be your hotel. But if you’re down for a quick walk, you’ll be totally fine.

This was my fir\st ever experience booking a hotel (sad, right). I used Priceline and they picked he best hotel. It is in walking distance to the House of Blues. The location worked out perfectly. There is a Subway (probably the cleanest Subway ever) located right next to the hotel, as well as Mexican burrito restaurant.
My room was clean, the staff as nice, and extremely helpful when I needed directions. I will definitely come back to this hotel.

We were in town to catch the Indians game and a little sight seeing. We were looking for an affordable room close to the stadium. We ended up booking at the Comfort Inn. The price was great, but the room was disappointing. Though it was a non-​smoking room, the room freaked of ciggarettes. The entire room screamed 1980s.
There was a 7.50 daily parking charge. Pros. complimentary breakfast and close proximity to the stadium.
In a nutshell, you get what you pay for. I’ll definitely opt to go elsewhere next time around.

We were in town to see check out an Indians game and we wanted a clean, relatively inexpensive place near the ball park.
Listed at a 2 star hotel for $ 65 on hotwire, this totally fit the bill.
It was a totally safe ten minute walk down the street to the park.
Parking was an extra $ 7.50 for a garage under the hotel, hardly broke the bank on that one.
Their Wifi was free, fairly strong, and reliable.
There was a free breakfast that included the usual stuff: bagels, muffins, yogurt, waffles, juice, coffee, blah blah blah. Grab some and go if you want, it is free.
The rooms were very clean. We had two double beds and it is apparently against the fire code to put a rollaway in a room with two beds, so we were politely denied the request. Oh well, They do have them if you have a room with just one king. Stupid, I know, but they’re just obeying the law.
It was about a 20 minute drive to Hopkins Airport in the morning, and off we went.

The Downtown Comfort Inn looks nice on the outside, but their rooms need to be renovated. The carpet is old, the toilet and bathroom in general is extra small. Also, the shower/​tub could use a face lift.
The double beds are comfortable, but the bedding looks worn – and should be updated. My room is not spacious, and seemed «crowded» because of the work desk and chair unit, by the window. I had to move the chair, to get to the air conditioner/​heater unit.
I appreciated the two power outlets located on top of the desk (connected to the desk lamp). They are nice to plug in your cell phone and other electronics.
However, the lighting in the room is extremely dim and needs to be brighter. Having a Refrigerator and Microwave in the room is convient. So is the Coffee Maker, Iron, and Ironing Board.
The bedside table is big and outdated, so is the Television. Also, the cable channels didn’t come in clearly, due to the bad reception.
I did not see a Swimming Pool, and I think this hotel doesn’t have one. But they do have Washing Machines and Dryers available for guests.
An excellent breakfast was served in the Hotel Ballroom, which is very spacious. Various food items were available, such as: yogurt, waffles, bagels, donuts, various cereals (in self serve bowls), boiled and scrambled eggs, sausage, a variety of fresh fruits, orange and apple juice, milk, tea, and coffee.
The hotel lobby is nicely (and modernly) furnished with couches, tables, chairs, a computer, a Flat Screen, and hot coffee is always available.
Both indoor and outdoor parking is available.
The staff is OK, except for the night Parking Attendant was more interested in watching TV in the outdoor booth, instead of monitoring cars.
