Still 5 star service but after the owner was tragically murdered I felt I should review it with new ownership. The owners son has taken on following in mothers footsteps and is doing a great job with the same staff. He knows the recipes and had helped in the past. All of the staff has stayed and still provide great breakfast and lunches with daily specials written on the white board. Today I am having on the the burgers, which they make a great burger, along with fries. Special today is the chicken casserole but it’s too much for me today but one of the best in this town. Chicken and dumpling day is my favorite. Glad they kept this going even if with heavy hearts.

This place is great! The chicken livers are the best I have had any where. Vegetable plate is good too.

Had breakfast at the Little Diner this weekend. The service was excellent and really welcoming! The homemade jam and jelly were good enough to eat with a spoon! I’m not much of a bacon fanatic but the piece I had was crisp and flavorful. Three of us ate full breakfasts with coffee and/or a soft drink for each of us for under $ 20. It was well worth the money!

Really wanted to eat there. It was my kinda place. About to order. Cook says can’t take credit card unless manager or owner is there. Give your people the tools to run things.

Horrible place to go. I have no idea why it got good reviews. I went there first time with my mom and the food was ok, service sucked never got one refill even had my glass by the end of table. Second time the waitress acted like she did not know her butt from a whole in the ground. No Dr pepper and breakfast was over but lunch was not ready??? Really? So we can’t order breakfast but we cant order lunch. Said we would have to wait 30 minutes. Needless to say we left there and will not ever go back. By the way they are way to expensive for the food they serve. We left and went to Golden Corral and it was way cheaper and better.

Based on Unilocal and recommendations, I tried this place, as well as Countryside Café. I ordered chicken livers with mashed potatoes at both locations to have a fair comparison, and this place won hands down. It was impressive to watch the staff work as I was sitting at the bar, waiting for my food. They only seem to be open for breakfast and lunch, and the parking and seating is somewhat limited. If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely come back for lunch.

I agree with the previous posts about the food in this restaurant. I had the Monday Blue Plate Special which consisted of 2 fried Pork Tenderloin patties. I also had mashed potatoes & white beans as my two sides. My wife had Chicken & Dumplins, lima beans & cooked cabbage. The Dumplins was a huge bowl. Almost too much to eat at one meal. The only negative that I have about is that they are not handicapped equipped. There is no handicap parking, and the aisles are too narrow for my wife to navigate with her walker. However, overall it was a good experience. Also, they now take credit cards so it is no longer necessary to pay cash!

Such friendly service! The vegetables were delicious! Fresh corn, tomato/onion/cucumber salad, fried okra, pasta salad, zucchini, pickled beets, mashed potatoes, etc. My friend loved the fried chicken! Tasty rolls & cornbread. Yum! Low key, convenient to downtown, reasonably priced… I hear they have the best breakfast in town too!

Great southern food… like homemade! Fresh green beans! And the best southern buttermilk cornbread I have ever had at a restaurant. And really good price! Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a country style meal.

Great food friendly service, one of the biggest problems is take out is only possible by walking in, ordering, then waiting on your food as I have called numerous times to get take out only to encounter infinite phone ringing and no answer.

I like this restaurant and want to go back after having a pleasant visit today during lunch. Service was fast and reasonable. They kept my glass with sweet tea in it. Now, for my food review. Well, I saw something here on the board menu that I never seen somewhere besides McDonalds. It was the Diner Mac Burger. It’s just like ordering a Big Mac, but actually better. It had a special sauce as stated by my waitress. See pics. This item might can only be ordered on certain days such as, Fridays which is so happens to be the day I visited. I will return here again to try their country food like their vegetables and special of the day. Now, they seem to close early just after lunch, so you have to come for breakfast or lunch. They tend to close around 2pm on most days and are closed on Sundays. To me, this seems to be one of Cleveland’s hidden gems for a secret 5 star restaurant only locals know about.

Great little diner. One of the best things they have is the burger, but no matter what you get, try the onion rings! They are the size of your hand and delicious too, some of the best I have ever had. Remember that it’s not big and fills up quickly.

Little Diner On 1st is a great local place to grab a bite. Dishes are nothing fancy, but taste great. A personal favorite is hamburger steak, mashed potatoes and corn nuggets(deep-fried corn). Tips: — CASHONLY(no credit cards) — Corn nuggets are not always available, so you’ll have to ask — Ask for rolls — the owner’s wife bakes them fresh and they are great! — Seating is limited, so show-up before the lunch crowd or just after 1pm
