This place is inside the convenience store at the Chevron gas station, so this isn’t where you stop for the ambiance. They were open very early and loaded with well dressed Spanish speakers getting ready for their day, which was the first clue that we were in the right place for Mexican food. There were pots of fresh food being cooked on the stove, and our food was excellent: fresh guacamole & black beans on my taco salad, my husband’s breakfast burrito was big enough for two. Highly recommended for a quick bite on a road trip.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write about Aztek Grill Cloverdale. This place has the best shrimp burrito in the world. The combination of shrimp, onions, and peppers all simmering together along with their salsa creates juices of sweet and savory goodness. Get the super version and alongside beans and rice is sour cream and avocado just creamy savory perfection. I like to get mine with extra shrimp $ 4 more but it’s so worth it. The total is about $ 14, but when you take that first bite and get a little sweet onion, that sauce and shrimp, then take another bite with rice… OMG it’s heaven. It’s rich and heavy and I can’t tell you how deliciously satisfying it is. I like to eat half, take the rest home, and over the course of 2 days just savor it with chips. I live about an hour and 45min away. Forget their other food, the shrimp burrito is where it’s at! Some tips: The 2 Aztek Grills in Santa Rosa both have different variations of the shrimp burrito neither are very good, and I’ve given them lots of chances. Get extra shrimp for $ 4. Yeah I know it sounds ridiculous to pay that amount but the burritos are huge(if you go at the right time) and it guarantees some shrimp in every bite whereas you might only get shrimp after the 2nd or 3rd bite. Go on a Saturday. There’s a little guy that makes it the best. His burritos are filled to the max. I’m not sure what days he works on the weekdays, but I can only drive up during weekends. He doesn’t work sundays. I know, I’ve gone a bunch. Warning: This is a fat burrito. As in it’s loaded with carbs, and calories. You will probably get a heart attack, but it’s totally worth it.

I went to the Aztec Grill Friday Morning upon a friends request that is was a great place to have a burrito. The flavor was fantastic! The only problem I had with the burrito I ordered was that It was full of cartlidge in every other bite, and it was cold. I asked the lady for an extra salsa from my burrito and her reply was you have salsa with your chips. Don’t order the astecs supreme stake!!!

I decided to try it out after the Burrito reviews. Well, I had a breakfast Chorizo burrito and it was ok, nothing special. Maybe its the lunch burritos that are great. Staff was nice and friendly

This is a great place to get a burrito. The service is fast. The food is consistently good. A lot of value for your money… Do not let the Chervon gas station fake you out! This is an excellent taqueria. The staff is friendly and always cleaning. I like that you can see into the kitchen and know that the health standards are high. Good place to practice your Spanish ordering food…

A student told me that the best Mexican food was in a Chevron and I almost laughed in his face. He gets the last laugh now, as the Aztec Grill ends up created the best burritos around. Made right in front of you, the burritos have a taste that is unsurpassed by all those«traditional» Mexican joints that charge $ 8 for something that is ok, but doesn’t have the freshness of well made burrito. Surprisingly the veggies have a fresh snap while the goodies inside the tortilla are piled high. The staff is pleasant and they are always willing to make small changes to the $ 6 Grande Burrito that I will always return for. Ukiah’s and Willits’ Aztec Grill fits in the same catagory with excellent food and good service. Windsor’s Aztec Grill is a different story. I’ve never been able to get food at that location because I’ve walked out twice after the staff was pushy and rude.
