Great food, Great Service and staff that will do whatever it takes to make their customer’s happy! If you like a friendly environment where you are remembered and taken care of, Josie’s is the place. I keep reading all the negative comments and it’s just sad. I usually don’t Unilocal because I despise it, but after reading some of these I had to. First off… they serve a Belgian Waffle… which is HUGE! It’s not a «regular waffle». Secondly I’ve never had any of the staff be rude to myself or my friends I bring with me. Third, Josie’s doesn’t serve dinner. So I’m not sure what the one Unilocaler was talking about. So…with all that said… Go to Josie’s. Great homemade food, fun, family environment and service dogs are welcome!!! Robin, the owner, even makes little biscuits. My dog loved his!

My wife and I were very disappointed in Josie’s Star Café’ on our one and only visit. The staff was friendly, but inexperienced. We ordered the fish & chips special, which was very expensive for the quality of the food. The fish came in a box and the chips were obviously frozen. Someone even had to go to the market to buy some malt vinegar, which added to the long wait. Also, it was hard to believe, but a dog was running all through the restaurant! I don’t recommend Josie’s Star Café’ and we won’t be returning.

The food was delicious with large portions, and the service was wonderful. If only it were closer to home!

Looks outdated. First time in there my husband and I were not greeted. So he sat down and I used the restroom after a 2 hour car ride. I retired to the table and after 10 minutes everyone was greeted/checked in on except for us. A party of at least 10 showed up, they were greeted and even handed menus. After that we decided to go somewhere else, that party was here after U.S. And they would have received their food first! Shame on you café, we went to the Mexican restaurant next door and my husband was so happy with the service he tipped a $ 20!

The only reason I went back is because my niece wanted a waffle & this is the only place in town that has them… freakin $ 9.25 for 1 regular sized waffle with powdered sugar(what a rip!!), because why would they offer that on the kids menu??? As for my food, a whole other joke… there is absolutely nothing homemade about their biscuits & the gravy was bleh, & the«large» egg I got on the side was the smallest egg I’ve seen in awhile & basically just a yolk. To top it off, their menus are a joke!!! This sealed the deal… next time I’ll go buy a waffle iron & make her a waffle at home.

Food is good but what I strongly enjoyed was how they treat you like family. All the servers there were cracking jokes with you and really made you feel comfortable!

I’ve eaten here maybe 3 times for breakfast. The first two times were ok. Nothing to write home about. This last time I went I took my 2 small children. One wanted French toast, the other a waffle. The waitress brought us menus. After scanning the breakfast menu and noticing that the prices were outrages for two small children I asked for a children’s menu. There was only 2 option for breakfast, pancakes or eggs bacon and toast. We ordered them food off the adult menu. I asked our server if the $ 9 waffle came with anything. Why yes, powdered sugar… And she stated that it was very large and wonderful! So against my better judgment we ordered it. We received our food about 10 min later. the Waffle was a normal size waffle. It was mushy and cold. I ordered the corn beef hash. It was over cooked and over peppered. I was disappointed because I had had it once before and it was rather good. My other child enjoyed his French toast. I also want to mention that the table was dirty, and the menus were dirtier. They are paper print outs put inside plastic sleeves which are old and dingy. I felt like I should wash my hands after touching them. Anyways, in conclusion. We will not be eating there again in the near future. The food is over priced and inconsistent. $ 40 for breakfast for 1 adult and 2 small children at a diner is way too expensive. There are much better options in town or a little down the road in Healdsburg.

This restaurant is under new management. Met the new owner, very welcoming. Lunch, burger and fries was very good. The restaurant is clean and done in a fifties style. Glad to see a new restaurant ready for breakfast lunch and dinner.

I got the stuffed burger I chose Monterey Jack cheese and I got bacon and fries, I got this to go so I could share with my husband, my burger was open faced so if I wanted to add sauce I was saddened because I had asked for bacon but I didn’t see any so I shrugged it off because I was hungry and my knee was hurting so I cut this burger in half and my bacon was stuffed INSIDE the burger and I was happy :-) I took a bite of this burger and with the cheese and the bacon inside the burger the flavors mingled really nicely and I enjoyed it :-) I would definitely eat here again :-)

We have lived in Cloverdale for many years and finally ate at Star Restaurant for the first time. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside it is a nice little diner, clean and hospitable. The staff is friendly, our waitress was very attentive. We ordered the country fried steak(which is on the breakfast menu) for dinner and it was very good and the portion size was perfect. We will definitely be coming here regularly now. Shame on us for not coming sooner!

Two friends and myself went to Star last night for dinner. We used my Unilocal coupon and for $ 20 we were satiated. $ 40 for $ 20… Can’t beat that. Yes, they have a limited menu but we were all pleased with our meals, one burger, one Cobb salad, and one very tasty soup with salad. Money left over so we had two pieces of Robin’s excellent peach pie… topped off our meals perfectly. And mmmmm good. The service was great and I’m sad to say, I didn’t catch the waitresses name. Shame on me. I’m taking another friend there Thursday night as he loves breakfast and they serve it all day. All in all it was a more than satisfying experience.

We were driving on the 101 and we stopped for gas and food. This place has a limited menu and fair american food. We had the stuffed hamburger and a BLT. How is the place? meh ;-)

Home made pie that you eat every crumb of crust — doesn’t get better than this. Made by Robyn, the owner, she has peach pie that has chunks of peach. Fish and Chips were AWESOME, Ribs sell out, salads are definitely more than lettuce(even the comes with dinner salads). Breakfast, it’s our new go to. Cooked exactly as you ask for. Krispy means just that! Staff feel like friends, welcoming, returning with refills, and refills. You won’t feel neglected. And then, there’s Josie… she’s something else, cute and if you’re lucky she’ll be there!

This is a very patriotic place with many American flags. I was with my family today and they gave me and my family 20%off for being a veteran when they saw my veteran hat. They also thanked me for being a veteran, which is something I don’t get in the bay area. Food is good and the costumer service is the best. I would go there everyday if I lived closer to there.

In the Rays grocery store complex on the south side of Cloverdale sits this little diner. We pulled off 101 around lunch time and was going to stop at the Subway a few doors down, but on looking at the Unilocal reviews thought it worth a try to get something other than the decent but predictable Subway you can get anywhere. Walking in there is an odd mix of red neon light strips along the ceiling and an overly abundant quantity of silk flowers. Not a very good décor scheme, but the food was OK and the servers prompt and friendly. Way better choice than chain restaurants for lunch, and better choices too.
