Charley’s Grilled Subs

I crave a good Cheese Steak, and that is what these guys do well. BUT, that is about it.
Service is non-​inviting and slow, atmosphere is hospital cafeteria, and the place is kinda dirty.
Pick up a great sandwich, and eat it elsewhere. You’ll be glad you did.

One of my «go to» places for a good hot cheesesteak. Being a formula fast-​casual, I’m not expecting anything that will blow my mind, but their hot subs are always consistently delicious, and their price-​point is fair. I also love their gourmet fries topped with cheese and bacon (shh… don’t tell my cardiologist). The kids also love their pink lemonade.
I’ll keep this review short and sweet because there really isn’t anything new I can say about them that hasn’t already been said, but I’ll wrap it up by saying great sandwiches, good prices and most importantly, consistent. Glad to have them in the neighborhood.

Sometimes you just crave fries! And these guys get that! They make em when you order them. I like em, but they’re not my favorite place to get em. I just happen to be there. That’s just what I think about Charley’s if it’s there, and I’m in the mood, and nothing else is around its my last resort. Sorry

I went there on a Saturday night and the place was empty. I ordered 2 sandwiches one Philly cheese and California chicken. Sandwiches were good and tasty. The one problem I had was the place was a MESS! Tables were dirty and trash all over the floor. Needs to be cleaned up.

Even though it’s was hot and late, Emily made our experience great. She told us about the new menu and lemonade. Our sandwiches were fresh and made well. Kiwi lemonade was great!

Really just enjoy the Philly Cheese steak and original skin fries. Needs a better eating atmosphere.

YUM! Their staff were friendly and service was fast. The Philly Cheesesteak Deluxe was the best I’ve ever had! Only wish they had more indoor seating as it was hard to find a table inside in the A/​C. Will definitely return.

Gourmet fries — frozen fries. Not even crisp. Cheddar tastes like spray cheese. Terrible. Bacon is the only palpable part.
Chick Philly — roasted chicken and fresh peppers and tomatoes and provolone. Bread has a nice texture. Mushrooms taste fresh. Size leaves lots to desire. Good value for the size, but if you want quantity-​go elsewhere.

Let me start this by saying I used to come here all the time, for lunch, with my buds from work. I decided to go back today as I found my old punch card and it was full. Sadly, things are no longer the same…
The sandwich was still good but they were out of pepper, an absolute necessity on a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. When I told the dude about it, he just lamely said, «Sorry. Guess we’re all out of pepper.» Really? Seriously? Could you go check in the back? Strike one!
Then, I went for a soda and all it did was spit on me. Told dude. He’s all, «Okay, I guess I’ll look at it…» Not even an, «I’m sorry,» this time. Strike two!
Finally, the table was FLITHY and I had to clean it up. It was the table right by the front door. No excuses for that. Strike three! You’re out!
Sorry, Charley, but I WON’T be coming back!
PS: Since the sodas were out, I had to make do with the lemonade. That stuff wasn’t even cold AND it was SEVERELY watered-​down! Ugh!

Let me start off by saying I’ve eaten at other Charley’s restaurants and thought their sandwiches were very good. So one day my mom was in town and she wanted to take my daughter (who was 2.5 years old) and I to lunch. We walked around this shopping area in Clovis and decided to grab some sandwiches at Charley’s.
My mom and I both ordered the California Sandwich (which was okay) and my daughter got the chicken tenders and fries. The first bite that my daughter took of one of her chicken tenders, she spit it out and said there’s something in there. Upon inspection it was a HUGE CHICKEN BONE! It was about 1 inch by 2 inches. I was shocked and I know some people who would have freaked out that their child could have choked on it. However, I am a very calm person, and simply brought it to the owner’s attention. He quickly and forcefully grabbed the tray from my hand and said «I’ll throw it away». That was it. He did not offer to give us a refund, he did not apologize for the fact that my daughter could have choked, he did not offer to replace her meal. Nothing. The other woman working there was very sweet and did come over to our table to ask us what happened. When I told her, she immediately asked if she can make my daughter something else. However, the owner interrupted her attempt at good customer service and demanded to meet her in the back. We heard muffled yelling from him. About 5 mins later, they emerged from the back room and neither of them looked at us or talked to us for the rest of our time there. I couldn’t believe the lack of decency in this man! I will never frequent this restaurant again. The owner was very inconsiderate and needs to understand that when a child’s safety is even remotely in jeopardy because of your food, you apologize and refund the meal AT THE VERY LEAST. I am just thankful that my daughter spit out the bone and didn’t choke.
I understand that they probably prepare frozen chicken tenders purchased from an outside company and it is probably not their fault. However, the lack of human kindness and customer service IS COMPLETELY THE OWNER’S FAULT. If you take your kids here, DO NOT ORDER THE CHICKEN TENDERS.

Came here on a whim for a quick lunch. The Philly chicken sandwich was great. The staff was friendly, and the place was very clean. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their sandwiches.

My husband and I have been here quite a few times. Finally decided to write a review. Well for starters the food is excellent. It’s always fresh and hot.
The customer service has always been ok. Not above and beyond or anything but definitely not rude.
The only bad thing I can sy is that the tables do tend to be dirty often. Even when it’s not busy. They could pay a lil more attention to them. Although they do come clean them when I request a clean table. I still plan on going here because like I said the food is excellent and always hot. :) I recommend you try it especially if you love sandwiches like me

Sadly a dirty and messy location. Tables were dirty and chairs I had to wipe off. And it wasn’t even busy! I’m disappointed because I love Charley’s!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh boy. Alright look, listen? And get ready to be blown away. These subs are hot and so is the restaurant. It was like 500 degrees outside and it was like 495 inside. Why am I paying for you to heat my sub when the sun is doing half the job? Anyway I got the big Italy or whatever. It had like every meat and Italian dressing. It was pretty good but it was no Rome Rye. Why do we assume these meats are the only thing Luigi’s eat over there? Their country is shaped like a boot, can’t we capitalize on that? Anyway, also I got the cheese fries with bacon and that was great except for the fact that I burnt my freaking mouth on them. How about a warning sign on the front door that says «Everything here is really hot» I think the person at the register had gotten some sandwich dust in her eye or something because she kept scratching it in between sandwiches. Then once I got my food, I sat down, and the chair started to creak and made a noise like the titanic when it flipped over. What are those chairs made out of, cardboard?
Overall a great experience and I’ll be coming back.

This was our first trip to this location. Worth the drive, awesome service. We went in right before closing and got the best service ever. The location in fashion fair is always hit or miss. We frequent it and have never once been told thank you for coming. The clovis location is our new charleys spot. As for food it is high quality and cooked to order in front of you. Their cheese steak deluxe is amazing and we always add on chedar bacon fries. Keep up the good work guys because it matters greatly to regular customers.

I’m a big Charley’s fan and this location has been awesome. The employees are really nice and the sandwiches are great. Will keep going!

The food is amazing. Fries are some of the best and the sandwiches are perfect. But I’ve been here twice and both times the staff acted like I was bothering them by coming in. I love the food but don’t want to deal with the attitude.

I’ve been to this place a few times, the subs are AMAZING. Much better than subway and I’m willing to pay that extra price to get that kind of quality. Can’t go wrong with a philly cheesesteak and the staff that help me are always friendly. The food is made fresh and right when you order, even the fries. You can even watch them make it which I appreciate because I want to know what’s going into my food.

Surprisingly good. You see Charley’s all the time and the boyfriend finally made me try it. It’s pretty good and there’s a veg. grilled sandwich. I’d go again if I need too. Yum. And I get the fries too… deep fried goodness.

This place makes good sandwiches. I especially like the philly cheese steak deluxe that has steak, grilled onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and provolone. I also like the philly chicken. The chicken teriyaki is pretty good. I don’t like the chicken buffalo.
This location of Charley’s is my favorite of the two in the Fresno area. This location is at Sierra Vista mall in Clovis in the outside courtyard area nearer to the theater. The employees are very helpful and nice.
There used to be one in River Park, but that one closed.
