We ended up at Coolhand Lukes on a Friday night after a very disappointing start at Uncle Buddys bbq… never got our food there… after an hour of waiting, and asking two or three times when our food would be ready… the waitress came over to tell us our order never went through… what the hell, we asked 2 times at least and was told it was coming… anyway we left very hungry and angry… we called Coolhand Lukes and explained what had happened and even though their were people waiting to be seated they told us they would have a table waiting for us, and they did. We also got a very great waiter named Wade… he was awesome and made sure we got excellent service… THANKYOUSOMUCHFORMAKING A PISSYSITUATIONNICECOOLHANDLUKES… WEWILLBEBACK…

Food is always great! Love eating in the bar area when it’s just my husband and I sans kiddos. The only issue we’ve had is that if you go later on in the day they tend to run low on certain cuts of steaks. Which in one way is good because we know they don’t buy in huge bulk and lends more to the meat being fresh, but it’s a bummer when you’re really crazing a certain thing and they’re out.

We came in with a group of 18, for a pre-wedding family dinner. The group reservation was handled by Tim with great service and efficiency. When we arrived we were greeted by our waiter Rick. Talk about AMAZING! Whenever our family gets together, it’s always a time for cutting up. Rick didn’t miss a beat. Our order — cocktails, appetizers and dinner were served perfectly! Everything came out hot and very tasty! Now the DUKE — holey moley! That little blue concoction goes down way too smooth. WOW! This is the perfect place to host a party! Excellent service and great food!

Thought a steak sounded good for dinner and this place was only a couple streets from my hotel. The Thursday Special is chili beans and biscuits. A shrimp cocktail, small steak with mushrooms and lobster mac and cheese for 16.99 and a scoop of ice cream for desert. Then if your thirsty they serve ice tea in a huge ball jar. Great service and great food.

I have eaten here few times. You often have to wait to be seated, unless you don’t mind sitting in the patio, it has open seating, Though I’ve tried many different dishes but my favorite plate is the Skirt Steak, it is very tender and tasty. The restaurant has good atmosphere, nice décor, menu reasonably priced and food are served in timely manner.

Seriously had the best service ever! We had a group of around 25+ lady bikers… the servers were AMAZING!!! They were super quick to get our orders in, the food came out right away with a huge smile, and everything extra we asked for(lemon wedges, extra sauce, etc) was brought to us immediately! Refills on our drinks came immediately as well. The food was tasty and there was plenty of it and I am definitely going back! Great experience in every way!

I was recommended to this place from a family member and I decided to try it out. First thing I notice was a friendly staff who have good dining standards. The bartender Cole is spot on with his service and helpful on suggestions. Also got to meet the director of operations Matt who was awesome and helping out everywhere. Happy Hour is solid and is all day every day. If you want a country style steakhouse it’s a great place to be. I have become a monthly regular there.

Def a upset drinks were not good bloody Mary lacked spice and martini was not made properly. Then on our food the steak was raw and the refire on it looked like it was it was smashed in the grill. The tri tip tasted like ham and was rubber like texture. Was not comped for any of the complaints. Really wanted to like this place let’s see if management cares and sends me a message

This place gets five stars for atmosphere and a solid three to 3.5 for the food. The décor is pretty rad. We saw tons of guys walking in with cowboy hats to this old western themed restaurant so that may have improved my overall rating. It was too cute! We had about a half hour wait unless we wanted to sit on the very wet patio so we grabbed a drink from the bar and waited for a table. The bartender could have been friendlier and the Moscow mule type drink my boyfriend ordered had no booze but the wine was fine. The dining room is seriously the cutest. It’s like an old west town. We loved it. Our server was attentive and pleasant. I got the chicken parm which came with cheesy garlic bread and my bf got the special steak with a shrimp and beans, potato and bread. My parm was standard; huge though. Boyfriends dinner was also pretty standard but the beans are actually outstanding. Overall the food was average. We would go back here for the cool vibe and décor. I think I’d probably hang out in the bar if the bartender were friendlier. I’d try another of the steaks because although we weren’t won over by his the place gets awards for steak. It must be good.

We ate here in October of 2015. Jonathon was our server and everything was perfect. He made us want to come back. We were again in Clovis, Ca. in March 2016. This time Jonathon was off duty so Crysta was assigned as our server. We handed her the receipt from our October 2015 visit and told her to duplicate it. She handed it back to us and assured us she would. We again reminded her that Jonathon said this was a web special price and he had to hand feed in the order, and not just stick a finger on the screen photo of the food. We asked her to take the October receipt with her to place our order in their system. She assured us that she didn’t need to do that. Our food order arrived in a reasonable amount of time and tasted OK. WHENCRYSTABROUGHTOURCHECK, ITWASFORALMOST $ 5.00MORETHANTHEOCTOBERCHECKFORTHEEXACTSAMEFOODITEMS. We reviewed it with her twice and she said that was the only price their computerized system would come up with. Other reviews of this establishment show the same pattern of incompetence with servers. It is obvious Crysta is under-trained and perhaps mentally handicapped and unable to remember what patrons tell her. EITHERWAY, WEWON’T BEBACK.

This was my first time in a really long time at this restaurant. Had dinner with my coworkers. There was a total of 14 people and they were very good at accommodating the group. We were sat in a private room for large parties. We all ordered drinks from the bar. The group noted the showgirl and beergarita was pretty good. Me and another coworker had the Malibu on the beach and that too was very good if you like fruity drinks(good amount of alcohol but not an overwhelming taste). I ordered the tri-tip with red potato mashers. The meal comes with soup/salad and 1 side dish of your choice. I ordered the tri-tip well done. When I got the plate the meat was too rough and didn’t really taste like it had a lot of flavor. Another coworker also ordered the tri-tip medium well and he too commented that the meat was kinda tough to chew. The mashers were really good with a soft and smooth consistency. Overall it was a good place for drinks and appetizers. I’ve had better tri-tip at many other restaurants. Maybe it was just what I ordered but I didn’t think it was that great. I am willing to try this place again if I’m in the area but won’t go out of my way to choose this place for dinner anytime soon.

INCONSISTENTANDDISAPPOINTING. Had dinner there last night w/party of 7 for my friend’s birthday. The host who greeted us was not friendly or welcoming, she seemed like she didn’t really care(she must’ve been bored). And then we asked if they could store the birthday cake for us, but the host said per new policy last month, they charge a $ 10 cake fee. I asked them if we just kept the cake with us to eat after dinner at our table, would they still charge, they said as long as they don’t touch the cake, they won’t charge, so we hung onto our cake. We were seated and ordered timely, but the chicken pasta dish that two of my friends ordered after the waitress recommended it were not consistent; one had grilled chicken breast, and the other had boiled chicken breast, both were nasty and lacked flavor. I ordered the ranch steak and it was dry/chewy, the gravy for the garlic mashers was salty, and that was pretty much it on my plate. Both portions were NOT worth the $ 18.50 they charged me. Everything on my husband’s trio BBQ plate was dry dry dry. The corn he got was also mushy and tasted like it had been frozen for a long time. For $ 23 and $ 18.50 dishes, the food was disappointing and looked like something you’d find at a cheap diner, not a steakhouse. Our friends orders were not that good either, with poor portions for a dish that costs $ 15. When we finished our meals, we asked our waitress for some dessert plates for our cake. She said there was a $ 10 cake fee JUSTFOREATINGOUROWNCAKE. We told her the hosts told us the $ 10 charge was for HOLDING our cake in the fridge, not eating it, but the waitress said no, there is a $ 10 charge for eating the cake. She apologized for the mix-up, but did nothing as far as customer service towards a group who were trying to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We had to omit the cake and birthday song because we did not agree with being charged a ridiculous $ 10 cake fee after already paying nearly $ 200 for dinner. What kind of restaurant does this? For the prices they charge for their food, compared to other franchise steakhouses, the food was damn disappointing and inconsistent(a party of 2 and party of 7 gets served the same amount of beans and bread when four of us had meals that were supposed to come with those items), and the service was poor with the hosts and waitress.

For a very large party service was spotty at best but they did accommodate our growing party. Beans were inot as good as usual very bland. Never got roll refill. Food was so so and at 20 bucks for a dozen small shrimp seemed pricey and by the way you cannot just plop orange marmalade in a dish and call it a sauce

4 stars for delicious prime rib, fast and friendly service, and reasonable prices. I always order to-go from this restaurant and they’ve always gotten my order right. The one tip I can give is this … don’t order the ribeye, it’s exactly as the pictures on Unilocal describe. It’s not thick, juicy, or remotely resembling any ribeye steak I’ve ever seen. The prime rib is where this place shines. The meat is tender, perfectly cooked(medium rare) with just the right amount of fat and seasoned crust ratio.

First time diner, and quite pleasantly surprised. Starter of beans and bread was very good, followed by a side salad. My combo of ribs and coconut shrimp were almost perfect. The sauces were tasty and a great compliment to the meat. Side dishes fries, baked potato, green beans fit quite nicely with the meal. We had to skip dessert!!!

Lots of upsides; steaks are solid, drinks are reasonably strong, and what i’ve had has been delicious… couldn’t resist one of the specials(small steak, shrimp, and beans),; the honey walnut glaze on the shrimp was tasty, but a little thin to really stick to the shrimp. we sat in the bar, and the service stood out as awesome… attentive and quick, without being all in your business throughout the meal. as others have mention, service isn’t so great occasionally; overall, i’ve had pretty good luck though, and this time was one of the great ones. is there better out there? maybe… but usually i’ll go with what i can depend on to be good, than take my chances, and you can’t go wrong here.

I really love this place! Every time I have been here, perfect service and perfect steaks! Last time I was there, I ordered the 14 oz NY Steak and a baked potato. Way to much for me to eat but I even love taking the leftovers home and having them later. The servers have always been so patient, every time I eat here, I can never make up my mind because their are so many delicious options, I change my mind ever 2 minutes. Next time I go, I am going to have their new Chateaubriand for 2. Now, I’m hungry :-)

We were staying at a nearby Hilton Hotel in Clovis and searched our IHC Reward Points website for a decent restaurant nearby that gives Holiday Inn points. Cool Hand Luke’s is just around the corner. We checked the CHL website and found an 8 oz mushroom burger listed on the generic corporate menu WITH a salad for $ 12.50. Just the right size for us. We wrote down all the info on a notepad and presented it to our server JONATHON when NO such item could be found on this location’s menu. He took it back to the cook and returned in a minute or two. He advised they would do even better. He brought us a 8 oz cheeseburger with all the garnishes, AND a nice size salad for only $ 9.50. We added delicious, strong, coffee for another $ 2.50. JOHNATHON refilled our coffee cup three times during our meal. We can well afford to buy a more expensive meal but prefer to not overeat and cause diabetes. 8 ounces of delicious char-broiled ground sirloin is enough for anyone. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience, particularly due to our outstanding server.

Been here three times and every time I’m hoping for a good meal. Sadly, it hasn’t measured up and I don’t anticipate it changing in the near future. Steaks are dry and thinly cut, their soup of the day, clam chowder tasted like it came out of a can.

Service is excellent, Rick never disappoints! Calamari appetizer is a excellent starter with a frosty beverage. Food is always consistent and portions are big. Very fairly priced compared to other so called steak houses in town. We have been here countless times and never left disappointed. Rick, thank you for great service and a great dinner. Very professional, very fair, very good!

Service is pretty hit or miss. We’ve had phenomenal service and we’ve had servers that disappeared on us. I love prime rib so this is my go to place for that. Every meal includes a little pot of ranch beans on the table but I’ve never gotten the gumption to try them-I don’t know if they reuse the same pots for each visitor and it makes me a little leery about the hygiene of it. The fried artichokes are great, as are some of their other appetizer options. The garlicky butter with the rolls is very good and I enjoy the crust and tenderness of the rolls. The strawberry lemonade is always a hit and I’ve taken out of town visitors to Cool Hand Luke’s. Prices are not rock bottom but pretty comparable for a steak house.

Looking for a stake in Fresno affordable but good… this was not the one. Our appetizer artichoke hearts, well it came with a lot but too oily, not a good way to start the meal. My husbands Rib Eye stake was a huge disappointment, it was so thin and pulled apart not because it was tendered but because it was a poor quality pieced together, all you have to do is look at the picture this was before even Cutting into it. My prime rib was soft and had great flavor that is why I gave this place a 2star. Defiantly do not order a red beer, it was not flavorful although our server Josh did what was right and offered a different drink at no cost. Out dinner totaled $ 74+ Over all we won’t be electing this place again. We would rather spend $$$ at a place like Ruth’s statehouse but leave satisfied. Josh was great & he is the only thing I could say was great.

Went out to dinner with my mom, and it was OK. The waiter did his job, that’s it; very business-like with no friendly chit-chat. The table we sat at was clean, and the menus are thin newspaper. Like the outdoor cowboy theme, and the country music plays at a low volume. They bring out rolls with garlic butter and beans; Mom liked the rolls, mostly because of the butter. The pinto beans are mildly spicy and have a perfect texture. They brought out our salads in these thin, flimsy bowls that almost flipped over when I tried to cut into the cucumbers, and the bleu cheese was pretty good. I got the 9 oz New York steak medium; they cooked it perfectly, but I had five chunks of gristle on my plate when I was finished, and I accidentally swallowed one. The potato mashers were good, and made even better by mixing the leftover garlic butter in with them. Mom said her tri-tip was over cooked for being medium, and was cold with chunks of gristle; she gave it two stars. We got a lava cake to share – YUM. Very spongey, rich, and warm, and the ice cream off-sets the richness nicely. Overall, OK.

Ordered the new York steak dinner. Steak was good. Not the best but not the worse either. Wasn’t crazy about the baked potato. Wasn’t as loaded as other steak houses and wasn’t cooked properly. Still was a decent meal that was edible. Just nothing to rave about. Except for the bread! The breads amazing!!! Great atmosphere. I’ll be back again. but will try something else. 3.5 stars is possible. The steak sauce was really good! Similar to A-1. Just have to ask for it.

CHL is A-ok if you’re looking for a decent steak at a price that won’t break the bank… It’s not fancy, but then again, who wants to dress up for dinner all the time? Service at the bar wasn’t too bad, friendly enough but a little slow, and I had to flag them down and ask for everything I needed

We’ve been here once before for a late night dessert. We tried the strawberry pizza and were not impressed. It had so much potential but it fell flat. But we decided to give their dinner menu a try anyway. The complimentary beans were good enough and the bread and garlic butter were also adequate. Our drinks were large and came very quickly. They were refilled quickly, too. Waitstaff were friendly and on point. Decoration and atmosphere is interesting and fun. I ordered the«Old West» Chicken salad and had them leave out the salami. Here is the description of the item from their website: Crisp romaine, chopped Fuji apples, salami, bleu cheese crumbles, avocado, tomatoes, caramelized walnuts, and sliced campfire chicken breast. With our creamy balsamic vinegar. There was no avocado OR tomatoes but I didn’t notice that while eating. I ordered very quickly and only scanned the ingredients and was happy enough to see caramelized walnuts, apples and bleu cheese crumbles in one salad. The lettuce was mostly the ends of the lettuce heads(The crisper, less green portions, not the leaves) so they were a bit bitter and also I’m sure they didn’t wash them properly because they tasted a little dirty. Whatever, I’ll live. The dressing was nice I think and would have been a good accompaniment to the salad but the gigantic pieces of slightly burnt chicken threw it off. There was a bit too much«campfire» for me I guess. The chicken ended up with a bitter note and the chunky strips were difficult to incorporate with the rest of the salad without making a mess. The dish the salad came in didn’t allow for much initial mixing without stuff flying everywhere. My fiancé ordered a rib eye combo with coconut shrimp and garlic mashed potatoes. He also got a salad with house dressing. He didn’t care for the salad. I tasted it and liked it; I thought perhaps there was too much lemon for him or something. I would have finished it but I already had ordered a salad for my entrée. His rib eye was fine and cooked to his liking. It was a sizable portion, as well. But his mashed potatoes… they were really wonky. They tasted DIRTY. I’m not sure how this was accomplished unless the potatoes were boiled in dirty water? I don’t know but those didn’t get eaten. The coconut shrimp were over fried. They were obviously frozen and they arrived to our table plenty warm but definitely overcooked. The batter was a dark brown and was unpleasant to eat. They were large and plenty of them but he couldn’t finish. At this point we’re a little grumpy at the food and the waiter offers to get my fiancé a replacement for his potatoes but he doesn’t want anything. Later a manager comes to ask about our experience and we told him the above things, although I didn’t mention too much about my salad as its really a matter of some small fixes. Perhaps I should have told him but fiancé was rather annoyed about his food already. The manager insisted he give us a free dessert and brought us the Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding, telling us it was in a different class entirely from the strawberry pizza we didn’t care for. It was gigantic! Four people could have finished it off. We finished a good portion of it and all of the ice cream(fiancé loves ice cream). It is a very heavy dessert so be warned about that. It was decent and we may come in on some night in the future for this for a sweet snack. In the end, our bill was $ 50 for two of us and we didn’t even order any alcoholic beverages! Also the dessert was on the house(normally would have been $ 6.50). My salad was $ 13 which would have been worth it if corrections are made. Fiancé’s meal was $ 28 and he could only stomach half of it. The price seems reasonable for all you get but not if you can’t eat most of it. If everything had been decent then I’d recommend this place to friends. Overall not happy with the price.

Never again. For years CHL was our fave for rib-eyes. Thick, cooked to perfection and reasonably priced. We recommended the place to people all of the time. It had been a few years since we’d been there. Man has things changed. Tonight’s fare is now being finished off by my dog. The rib-eye I was served was $ 23 for a thin stringy piece of crap. I ate half. Fido the other half. The other person with me had rack of ribs they must be pretty proud of at $ 21! She said the ribs at Applebee’s were much better! I tried a rib. Dry as a popcorn fart(boiled to death) with bland BBQ sauce. Utter disappointment and will never go again. I should’ve sent it back when it landed on the table but wasn’t in the mood for dealing with them. Don’t waste your money. Now where’s the –5 star? PS: for the record I tipped the waitress 15% and did not punish her for the lousy food. $ 65 down the drain.

This has to be one of the most deceiving restaurants I have been to. The atmosphere was nice, the place was full, the menu looked good, and the high prices made me assume the food was of quality. Unfortunately the food was just the complete opposite. I ordered their shrimp salad and it was seriously the most tasteless salad I have ever had. It seems like it had been sitting in the refrigerator for a couple days. The shrimp was ice cold, with no seasoning, and not grilled. The broiled eggs tasted bad and the lettuce was flat. I couldn’t stomach to eat a fourth of it. One of the worst salads I’ve had. My husband really disliked his ribeye steak and said it had no flavor. My son’s pizza came still frozen! I think that if they can’t even microwave a frozen pizza correctly then they must be struggling in that kitchen. So unfortunately although the atmosphere is quiet nice and staff seemed okay, the food is way below average and especially for the prices. We ended up going through the Wendy’s drive thru afterwards.

I received a gift card for this place so I decided to give it a try. Upon arriving(Friday around 6), the place was busy so we headed to the bar area which has self seating. The inside was actually pretty nice and did give me a wild west kind of feel. I am giving this place 2 stars because it was less than okay and overpriced. I am big fan of craft beers paired with appetizers especially if I have a big appetite. The establishment was busy so it took them quite some time to take our order(which is okay… What do you expect on a Friday night). That gave us time to gauge other patrons’ plates. Nothing seemed to pop out at us on the menu nor on anyone’s plate. We decided to order appetizers and drinks first and then to go from there. We ordered«BBQ chicken nachos» and«potato skins» to start. The end result was expensively disappointing. The nachos seemed to be a concoction of something i would put together with leftovers from a family cookout. There seemed to be a whole thigh right in the middle of the plate(chicken was not shredded or properly cut into reasonably sized pieces). Not only that, but the chicken was not cooked properly. The potato skins were good… But because they were covered in cheese and eventually doused with ranch and sour cream(can’t really mess that up). Overall the restaurant was just nice and the food was less than desirable. Perhaps the main entrees are better… But for what I got and saw, I don’t see myself coming back anytime soon.
