Definitely call ahead and make a reservation because the place is very tiny! Luckily, we were able to get a table for our anniversary dinner, and everything was amazing. Service, food… all of it! We started off with the Gorgonzola French Fries for an appetizer. A huge portion of a delicious, grown-up version of loaded fries. For dinner, my husband had the filet medallions and I had a combo of the coconut shrimp and ahi tuna. Outstanding!!! They even surprised us with a piece of key lime pie which apparently is something they do for couples celebrating an anniversary. We will definitely come back!

This is an amazing restaurant, the food was wonderful and everything is made fresh in house. It’s a small place so make a reservation if possible we had a party of 8 which included 3 kids. We ordered grilled Mahi, fire grilled shrimp, and fish & chips. Dinners come with coconut rice topped with black beans and grilled fresh veggies which is a treat. The kids chicken fingers were fabulous made fresh with real chicken breasts. Sharon and her staff were attentive and great with the kidsCan’t forget to order dessert the key lime pie was delicious. We will definitely be back. Love finding local fresh food

We came here based on the great reviews and weren’t disappointed. With a name like Fat Kahunas and being on the beach, I was expecting more of a beach bar atmosphere, but it’s actually a much nicer restaurant than I expected(a little more pricey than I thought also). It’s very small with only 5 – 10 tables so I’d recommend reservations on a Friday evening if you don’t want to sit at the bar. We got the coconut shrimp appetizer. It came with 6 large delicious shrimp. My wife got mahi tacos and I got the shark tacos. Both had a lot of flavor. The kids got kid’s meals and each one had rather large portions for kids. I’d like to return without the kids to enjoy this nice restaurant even more.

Everything was very fresh! Best meal we had while in Florida! The ahi tuna tacos were deliciously made with local caught sushi grade tuna. The coconut shrimp were huge & tender. We had the key lime pie & fried pineapple upside down cake. Both were good but the key lime was great! Tart & sweet. Our server, Anna, was attentive, friendly & a real pleasure to meet!

We found this place through a Google search while vacationing in Cocoa Beach and I am so glad we did. It is a small restaurant(almost hidden) with a view of the beach from the patio. It has a casual yet intimate feel and the food is to die for. The seafood is fresh and tasty. We had the seared tuna appetizer, blackened shrimp, butter garlic Mahi Mahi, and pulled pork. Everything was delicious including the accompanying veggies! I would highly recommend this place!

This was, by far, one of the best fresh fish restaurants we have attended. We live full-time in Central Florida, and I am a gourmet cook. We began our lunch with a bottle of 2014 Clos du Bois Chardonnay. The service personnel were absolutely fantastic! In fact a family of eight came in with a young girl who liked to build her own tacos. So the hostess suggested a deconstructed taco for her!(See my photo). EXCEPTIONAL! The complementary black bean and tahini hummus with warm taco chips appetizer was delectable. His seared Ahi tuna was exceptional with the additional soy sauce reduction, white sticky rice with black beans, and squash medley. My coconut shrimp was better than anything I have prepared at home. The coconut shrimp sauce exceeded anything I have found anywhere. It was the perfect complement to the six gigantic tender shrimp, lightly dusted with a crispy crusted coconut breading. Upon reading other Unilocal reviews, we decided to order and eat only half of our lunch. And we were not disappointed. The upside down pineapple cake was light, not super sugar heavy, and the perfect ending to an EXTRAORDINARY lunch. THANKYOU&WEWILLBEBACK! P&J

Our experience started off a little slow, but once started we were very impressed. If you go during a peak time have a little patience as it is worth the wait. We ended up sitting at the bar and our servers were very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Calamari appetizer which was cooked perfectly. I then ordered the Mahi and Tuna Tacos. The portions were pretty good, presentation was very good and the taste was unbelievably flavorful. If your in Cocoa Beach, definitely check this place out.

Excellent food and service. What a gem! The best tuna I’ve ever had!!! Only mistake was not saving room for their key lime pie or fried pineapple upside down cake, both looked amazing.

Found this on Unilocal. My wife and i stopped late for dinner. I was worried about seating seeing how many have commented on the small amount of seats. They thankfully had plenty of room. The wait staff was unbelievable. Extremely polite and engaging. I had the scallops with bacon special. Unbelievable! Scallops cooked perfectly with plenty of bacon on top. The cooked vegetables were terrific with the sauce. Its was truly a terrific experience. Small and intimate and very relaxing. Thanks for an awesome experience!

My wife and I enjoyed cold drinks, with humus and chips. We shared a romaine wedge salad. The tomatoes, blue cheese, dressing the best. Then appetizers; garlic shrimp and rare ahai tuna wasabi. This spot is small, so if you don’t have a reservation, take a seat at the bar. The service was both attentive and friendly. This is our new seafood restaurant.

Excellent choice for Mother’s Day lunch! Mom sai the Mahi Mahi tacos were excellent and I had the pulled pork sandwich, one I’d the best and most flavorful I have ever had. Best part was the surprise dessert, champagne and a chocolate covered strawberry for the mom’s in the house. Make a reservation today, they fill up!(We didn’t have one and they squeezed us in!) Fabulous service!

A bit of Aloha in Cocoa Beach, Florida? Yup — located at the entrance of the public access entrance to the beach, it is an AWESOME seafood joint with a Hawaiian flavor that you quickly feel as the staff welcomes you with the universal greeting in Hawaii, «Aloha!» The décor has flavors of Hawaii to include a video of surfing contests on the tv. The cuisine is fresh fish and it has a great vegetarian choice which my colleague enjoyed stating that it was very tasty and filling. I had the ahi soft tacos which was singed and topped with tasty veggies and a spicy sauce. Other entrees were available to include the ONO(Hawaiian for wahoo), but the ahi soft tunas called. Kona Brewing Company’s beers were available which complemented the wine as well as their sangria. Dessert included key lime pie and although listed in the menu, haupia(Hawaiian coconut gelatin, similar to jello) is not available because of the warmth of the beach does not allow it to harden. A small establishment with limited seating(only about 8 tables, but seating/dining is available on the bar, bar type table against the wall, and two outdoor seats. Parking may be difficult, but the small establishment and parking difficulty is well worth the effort. It’s AWESOME or as folks in Hawaii say, ONO licious!

Probably the best fish tacos I’ve ever had. Deliciously simple sangria. The staff was kind and inviting. Definitely a must visit for anyone visiting Cocoa Beach.

The best way to describe this restaurant is «Hidden Gem.» My husband and I are from Atlanta and were on vacation around Orlando. We decided to head to the nearest beach, Cocoa Beach, where we discovered Fat Kahunas. Our waitresses were extremely nice, very attentive, offered in full detail any description of items on the menu… but, let’s get to the food. My husband had a burger that he enjoyed every last bite of. He said it was one of the«best burgers he’d had.» I, myself, had the blackened mahi mahi tacos. They really fill you up! They packed a serious flavor punch, so many tropical/Hawaiian flavors. The coconut rice is amazing, so soft and sweet. Beans are delicious. And the complimentary hummus appetizer was FANTASTIC. I will be stopping by Fat Kahunas the next time I am in town. Delicious.

To begin very small very limited space. We got lucky and walked right in and sat at the bar with no reservations. The coconut shrimp appetizer was absolutely delicious. Shared the surf & turf(filet mignon, Seared ahi tuna) this also was delicious. Down side was they were out of of many fish selections, and the steak when delivered was not quite to ideal temperature but cooked perfectly. Will definitely recommend.

It’s easy to see why this small, delicious spot is ranked #1! The attentive and friendly wait staff, awesome outside table with a direct view of the ocean, and delicious food were perfect for a lunch! We started with the Gorgonzola fries which had an interesting mix of toppings and didn’t disappoint. The side salad was fresh and with a nice, homemade dressing. For main dishes, I had the pink sea scallops special– which was amazing! The scallops were fresh and perfectly cooked with a unique sauce and bacon. Even more delicious was the side of vegetables(sometimes a throw away item) perfectly cooked and seasoned with care. The burger was large, covered in toppings and satisfied my burger-holic husband! Service was attentive by not overly so, and with a nice breeze from the ocean, this was about as good as a lunch can be! Highly recommended; worth the drive from Melbourne beach!

If your idea of a great beachside dinner happens to includes perfectly cooked fire grilled Mai Mai with fresh mango salsa and a tall glass of sangria, then go no farther. Little ‘ol Fat Kahuna’s serves up the biggest and freshest flavor combinations you’ll find anywhere on Cocoa Beach. Our party dined on the Mai Mai, coconut shrimp, and a heap of chicken fingers. Each was cooked to perfection. The next time we’re in the neighborhood visiting Major Healy and playing ‘spin the bottle’ with Genie, we’ll be sure to stop by Fat Kahuna’s!

I think there are only about six tables in the restaurant and additional seating at the bar. The area is clean and the theme is Hawaiian. One wall is full of mirrors to make the room seem bigger. The waitresses are all very friendly and their uniforms are very bright and floral. Service was quick to take our orders and they greet with an «aloha.» One thing I did find cheesy is that sangria is served from a carafe into wine glasses and then topped off at the table with a can of soda. This action seems better served behind the bar. Or possibly mixed into the carafe before delivery? The menu is extremely limited. You cannot get a meal for under $ 10. Not even an appetizer. This restaurant is getting a 4⁄5 because of the quality of the food. Everything is cooked to perfection. The flavor combinations not only work but they’re addicting. And lastly, the presentation of the meal is pretty damn impressive for such a little beachside restaurant. I would recommend Fat Kahunas to someone wanting to spend about $ 25/person(not including tip) for some really yummy seafood. You will more than likely need to pay to park.
