This bookstore is a hidden gem of Coeur d’Alene. I’m a very particular reader and often am looking for uncommon/unusual but not too-highly priced books that most used bookstores just don’t tend to stock. I was happy to find they had all sorts of great titles scattered throughout. I spent around $ 50 and walked out with two big stacks of books. Families with kids came in and out while I was there and I noticed the kids had no problem finding titles they wanted too, so there is a broad spectrum of good choice titles. Even $ 15-$ 20 would get you a little handful of well-found books. I think one of the main reasons I liked the store so much, and the reason for the availability of the good titles, were the staff/owners. Really friendly people, very knowledgable, good natured, and overall just ‘my kind of people’. I had some good conversations with them and look forward to going back. Experiencing this store seriously was a contributing factor! in moving to Coeur d’Alene(the first time I went there was when I first visited CDA to see if it was a town for me, and it was). The store is somewhat of a good ‘microcosmic’ reflection of the thought-world of the rest the town: independent-minded, rare but not inaccessible, and friendly. Added bonus: self-defense shop on the left of the bookstore, and a wonderful little German-Alpine sweets store on the right. Classic!
