We were staying in Kellogg & wanted to have more options on food… So glad we drove a lil to find this gem. We all ordered breakfast and it was ALL delicious!!! Duck Confit, regular French toast, pork fried steak… Yummm the atmosphere is also great, friendly staff & good music playing in background. Will definitely stop again when passing through that town.

no chicken fried steak?! get outtah here. Also, the biscuits and gravy weren’t that great, and the potatoes were a bit overcooked.

Okay, so this place definitely earned ALL of the stars. My husband and I recently thought we had found our new breakfast joint, but were disappointed to learn the owner decided to turn her restaurant into a coffee house and bakery. Boo! We attempted to eat here a few years ago, but it was always jam packed. My new hairdresser recommended The Garnet Café when I saw her three weeks ago, so this morning I figured we needed to give it another shot. We went EARLY, so as to beat the rush and boy, was that a good idea! The café is tucked inside a small house right behind Syringa on Walnut. There are two dining areas and a small bar area. The décor was definitely eclectic and my husband took photos of the many quirky paintings that adorned the walls(all of them are for sale, BTW). The service was excellent and our server was welcoming and friendly. She was hustling to get the orders in and out! Dan ordered today’s special, cleverly entitled The McDuck Breakfast Sandwich. It had egg, cream cheese, duck sausage patty, spinach, avocado, watercress, on an English Muffin. He said it was incredibly tasty with a phenomenal flavor profile. Speaking of phenomenal, I ordered the green eggs and ham. OMG! I have never had a breakfast that tasted so good! The pesto covering the eggs was perfect and the ham was tender enough to practically melt in your mouth. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and the rosemary bread with lemon curd and raspberry jelly was super tasty. My taste buds were dancing around on my tongue! The price isn’t too bad and we definitely got our money’s worth. This is one locally owned business I encourage everyone to check out.

We waited for a table for 10 – 15 minutes when we arrived late Wednesday morning. They were busy, which is always a good sign in my book. It’s a tiny restaurant with tables packed inside 2 separate rooms, and an even smaller entryway. We could see the large portions of many different plates of food as servers whisked by us. The farm-to-table genre is what attracted me to this place. The menu tells about the farm itself where much, if not all, of their food is sourced. Everything we ordered was bursting with flavor. My omelette was huge and I only ate half of it. It was the most stuffed omelette I’ve ever had! It was more like a quesadilla or burrito made of egg with all the fillings inside. It was amazing! My husband and sister-in-law loved their food, too. Service was great despite the rush– attentive and prompt. I liked the atmosphere. It was truly a hodgepodge. It was old and small with a country feel, but the paintings on the wall were modern and funky.

Wow. Best breakfast I’ve ever had. So much flavor in everything. Try the duck sausage. Seriously, it’s crazy.
