I live the Riverview. The food is excellent… Great pizza and fish stew. The service is always good.

What can I say! This place is consistently fantastic! The food is perfection with a great wine selection. The wait staff is impeccable and always accommodating. Elegant and sophisticated with a friendly, casual feel.

Great restaurant with amazing service! We had car problems and were at the restaurant for 4.5 hours. All the staff were incredibly friendly! I had the ravioli which was amazing. The desserts and soup were also great. This is pretty close to the train station and Bull Hill trail(we did the Washburn trail), so perfect walking distance if you don’t have a car. Would recommend!

Staff was mediocre at best. Steak sandwich was good quality and cooked well. Fish chowder at $ 19.50 was way overpriced based on portion size.

Loved it. Food was amazing. Views were nice. We sat outside. The wait staff was patient and we needed to taste some different wines(selected Berringer Merot).

Good food, terrible service. A waitress had us waiting in the front and when we asked again about a table she rudely remarked«well you have to come in the restaurant for a table», when we had already asked to be seated.

Service was good. Food was really good. I ordered the sirloin burger medium well with shoestring fries. Dad ordered the Mexican burger and hubby ordered the Diablo pizza. Both men are very hard to please when it comes to pizza so when they compliment food, you know it’s good! Overall atmosphere was pretty quiet — server let us know we arrived during a quiet time since it seems this place is always booming. Only reason I gave it a 4 star — we sAt near the doors so naturally there were flies everywhere. It didn’t disturb our dining experience but it was somewhat annoying having to bat them away. One of the servers even batted one away for us and let the screen door open so it could leave. :-)

Great views, friendly staff and good bread. I found the food description sounding great but the food itself uninspiring. Looks like they cater to a senior crowd who might prefer the bland food. Dessert was good though!

I’m a local reporter, and I wanted to produce a Mother’s Day gift idea story. I called Riverview after hearing good things about it. I brought my mom and we planned on having lunch after my interview with Jim Ely, owner. We both tried the homemade ravioli and had crème brûlée for dessert — -incredible! From the good-natured wait staff to the scrumptious food — 5 stars! Riverview is one of the best restaurants in the Hudson Valley.

I live in Manhattan and have to say that coming out here for this restaurant was 100% totally worth it. The easy and light food is truly delectable and tasty. I highly recommend dining at this restaurant for a truly wonderful meal that must be shared with loved ones or even alone! Not only is the food and décor perfect, but the beautiful natural environment and fresh clean air is remarkable. Ask for Juan, the night manager, who is a perfect gentleman — he will steer your meal choices in right direction.

Struggling to understand how anyone could give this restaurant 5 stars. Either you have never been to a decent restaurant or are easily satisfied. Been here too many times for this to be an accident. The food just isn’t good; that and that they don’t take credit cards makes it complete and utter loser, even for just pure convenience.

This was a cute little restaurant with a pleasant décor and a nice atmosphere. The wait staff was very pleasant and there was a good view of the river out of the window. The menu was rather limited, but the food that was on it was delicious. The portion size of my chicken was rather small, but the couscous and sauce was flavorful enough to make up for it. There were only a few downsides to this restaurant. Even though an ATM was available, not accepting credit cards is rather unusual for a successful restaurant. It was also a little chilly outside, and the waitress kept leaving the door open. Overall, good restaurant. I will eat there again if I’m in the area.

My friend and I like to visit Cold Spring once in a while to just relax and do some light shopping. After walking around for a couple of hours, we got hungry and decided to give this restaurant a try. I will admit it is a strange place at first sight. It didn’t even look like it was open for business. There are no tell-tale lights or signs. We couldn’t even figure out how to get inside. We actually went in through the back way by accident. Advice: Folks put a big sign outside that reads ‘Yes we are open’ and then another sign with a big arrow saying ‘Main Entrance here”. Another quirky thing is that each door has a thick set of curtains that you have to get through. Strange indeed. Upon entering we were greeted by an extremely friendly young man and he gave us a table right by the window. It was a very nice clear day around 4PM and the view was great. Next, a very nice lady came right over and took our order for drinks — we had two Pepsi’s. Then another man brought over some bread and butter and I must say the bread tasted really good. We ate that up quickly. Another lady then brought over another basket of bread without even asking. So far the service was impeccable. My buddy ordered an open steak sandwich with string fries and I had chicken over Caesar salad with parmesan bread wedges on the side. I have to say this, although the place has a quirky setup, the food was fantastic. Both dishes were full of flavor. We ate everything on our plates and left nothing behind. Afterwards we had some home made bread pudding and again — out of this world. The coffee was also excellent. I know this place got some mixed reviews but make no mistake — the food here is great. Two thumbs up! And yes they do not take credit cards — bring cash or a personal check. Believe it or not.

This restaurant sits not far off Main Street in the middle of a residential street. The menu is seafood and and pasta. My girlfriend enjoyed her vegetarian whole-wheat pasta with curried cauliflower, mushrooms and zucchini. I had penne veal bolognese which was also good. The staff was super friendly. The bread and drinks were delicious. The atmosphere was dark and quiet/romantic. This restaurant is hard to spot from the road. If i hadn’t been given specific directions, i doubt i would have found it. The signage is not light and the entrance looks like you’re walking into someones private patio. There was some weirdness at the end. This is a cash only restaurant. There is one small note on the menu that i had to hunt to see only after having it pointed out by the waitstaff. There’s no sign on the door or on the walls. They don’t have an ATM. They DO have what appears to be a credit card reader that they will swipe your card through and give you cash from the till. Seemed super shady and made us really uncomfortable.

We came to cold spring for a day trip and was highly recommended to have dinner at the Riverview restaurant. Our view of the mountain was breathtaking! The service was exceptional and we ordered chicken Parmesan with pasta. This was not a selection on the menu, but the chef went ahead and prepared it for us. Yummy! My mother enjoyed her meal and couldn’t stop talking about how great her chicken Parmesan was prepared. Con: they only accept cash.

It was a crisp windy October day, my friend’s birthday. We were a party of 4, two couples. After a quick hike down the breakneck mountain we decided to grab a bite, and I chose this restaurant based on the 4 star rating it received. Since breakneck was packed with cars parked near & far, in order to secure a table at the end of a popular hiking Sunday, we phoned for reservation and they took down my name. Without checking for menu & price we arrived at a cute house. We were confused by the location of the front door that we walked around the back & front only to find a small sign pointing toward the entrance. As soon as I enter I realize this restaurant was decorated really old style and not fashionable, but the view is nice so we started. We were quickly seated and orders taken. The guys ordered IPA draft, I ordered a riesling, and my friend red wine. When my friend excused herself to wash up, I approached our waiter to request a little birthday special for my friend because it was her birthday, and I was assured with uncertainty… our waiter was an obese older gentleman with glasses and he looked like he didn’t know what to do. The drink came, and I was glad that my riesling was poor from a chilled bottle into sufficient amount in my glass. We ordered the peanut soup because we were told that the split pea soup were out. We ordered tuna poke, apple endive salad, the stew, and the burger with medium rare. My friends requested to split the main course — some stew of seafood. The waiter didn’t understand and thought they wanted to split the peanut soup as well so he was explained again. The bread quickly arrived, then the drink and the food. They waited to have everyone finish their appetizer before serving, which showed certain quality of service. My endive salad was good. My friend was ok with their peanut soup. I like that by stating that they were splitting the main course, my friends were served half the size of equal portion of the salad which comes with the main course, and the stew which comes in two cute ceramic pot with lid on. However, problem arose when our main course arrived. Mine was the tuna poke, which was raw tuna stacked atop of a layer of seaweed salad, mangocubes, and toped with avocado. It was very salty and not fresh. I had suspicion of what it was going to cause my GI so I left out some tuna. My by’s burger was mediocre evidenced by the fact that he didn’t finish 50% of his plate, which included shoestring fries and a side salad. Then it was time to order dessert. I ordered Tartufo but they were out, so we asked for check & left. The food, plus 3IPA, a riesling and a red, rang up to $ 141. That was very pricey for the subpar food quality we received. I was really disappointed to have brought my friends here on her birthday. Granted we were treated with timely services. There were plenty of waiters around and we were never ignored or overly-attended to. The drinks were good albeit expensive. My endive salad was good. However, it was my friend’s birthday and they didn’t do anything after I specifically requested — I would have paid more for a little piece of «something» with a candle on it so she can enjoy the public acknowledge. I felt unappreciated as their first time customer and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone with a taste for fresh food, quality cooking, and some sense in customer service. I may be from the city which is why I could tell that the tuna was stale, but no one should be subjected to un-fresh raw fish, particularly not here when it cost an arm and a leg. CASH and CHECKSONLY. seriously?

Me and my friend had a truly wonderful experience here. I had the pablano chili and the eggplant parm. My friend had the peanut soup and the soba noodles with curry veggies. We were extremely happy with the food and service. On top of that, we were day-tripping from NYC and our car battery died. The manager/owner Laurie was so sweet to help us out with a jump start. So great, so helpful, and that goes for everyone there. Loved this place and will be back. Thank you guys for everything!

I haven’t been to any restaurants in cold spring so I can’t compare. If this was an establishment in NYC, I’d give it a solid 3 stars, but the view, overall service, ambiance, and the selection of food in a post-hike environment makes this place worthy of a solid 4 rating. Food is great — quality is alright and the selection is what you’d expect from a typical Italian/American restaurant. My party ordered the rigatoni bolognese and the burger — both were solid. Rigatoni is served with copious amounts of meat sauce, which was great, and the burger comes with excellent fries. We also ordered a bolognese pizza, which was great. Copious amounts of bread is also served, and lots of butter served. Service is excellent — waiting staff lets you take your time, refills beverages frequently, and are just courteous and polite people. This is excellent. Ambiance is also great — clean, a bit old-fashioned space with tons of lighting and overlooks the river. Would be great for brunch
