I’d never been to an Eddie Bauer before — I always thought of the catalog, but bothered to stop by a store. It is like a small REI or EMS, but more focused on clothing. With the 40% off sale going on, the prices were very reasonable — but it seemed to be pricy otherwise(thermal gloves with grips and touch-screen usable gloves — $ 45 without sale). Its a super clean store, with friendly staff and really organized. I went in to look at shoes, and was able to see they didn’t have what I wanted really quickly. As a result, I saw gloves were on sale, tried on a pair and went up to the cashier. The rung up a bit higher than I expected — so I asked what the original price was. Of course, mid transaction, he couldn’t see the original price, so he had to log into another computer that didn’t have a scanner, type in the code to look it up, and was nice enough to do this without any pushback. Maybe my standards of good customer service have dropped, but I was impressed by that part of the interaction. The shop could use some more variety, and the price point was a bit high though.
