Mattress Discounters Columbia

Went to this store on a Monday after looking a competitor a couple weeks before. The competition sales staff was a little too pushy for me and didn’t show us a thing under $ 2500. It was our first time out so we weren’t sure of the general price for a king size but knew that was beyond our price point (the price magically lowered as we were walking out). I looked at Costco as well because; frankly Costco has most of what you need but not the ability to test the beds. Here comes Mattress Discounters-​the sales staff was nice when we walked in, asked what we were looking for and showed us about 5 models. After hopping around, we found a set we liked and discussed price. I didn’t feel pressured or pushed into to anything (I’m not that consumer).Far below the competitor and not the strong sales tactics. We ended up purchasing (there was a promotion for interest free financing that we took advantage of) and delivery was set for Friday between 6 – 10 pm (Didn’t have to take off work because of the late availability window). 6:15 pm, two delivery guys arrive, look at the space. The guys went out to the truck, new mattress in, old one out in less than twenty minutes! A great service from beginning to end and the store is highly recommended.

I am not sure what to say about the previous comments. They are from years ago so I have to assume that a lot has changed as our experience here was great.
The store itself was nothing too special, but our experience with the employees/​manager was wonderful.
Coming in to the store we were welcomed not followed. We were asked if we needed help from the knowledgeable staff. They asked our budget and gave us a list of options in that range. When we had found a few beds we liked we were given quotes but not pressured to make a purchase.
Overall I would recommend this location and this retailer. In particular the Manager Sean was very helpful.
Cons– The bed cover they promoted (stating it was not plastic) was in fact a vinyl/​plastic material.
–When the bed arrived during its scheduled time I was slightly disappointed that the delivery men were rough with my belongings and did not wear the «shoe booties» as discussed at time of purchase.

We went into the store hoping to gather information and left with an amazing mattress for an amazing deal!
Trevor, our sales rep, was easy to talk to and incredibly helpful. He was honest about the differences between mattresses and price. He made us feel comfortable and that we could trust him.
We would highly recommend this store to anyone looking.

I thought long and hard about writing this review because of how scathing it would be and how I don’t want to put that energy into the world, but people need to know… how do I begin when all I want to do is yell, ‘DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED.’
Just to sum it up: this location does not know how to use a Groupon, which resulted in a saleswoman calling me a liar. The district manager took 4 days to call me about my complaint, and even then, did not offer me a discount for my troubles.
Do not go here. Do not buy anything. Unfortunately, I had no choice, due to the Groupon I purchased. NEVER AGAIN.

I can’t speak for previous management but on my one visit here, I received excellent service. I had already been to all the other stores in the area and I walked into this store expecting to rule it out.
This store was hard for me to find because I could see it from the road but had to drive around the back like a lot of Columbia strip malls. It is smaller than other mattresses stores but was bright with a nice paint job, airy, clean and well arranged.
Chuck was friendly but not overbearing. There were no snide remarks about other stores. He just offered simple information about the important concepts of a mattress… what to look for and helped me narrow down my selections. There was no rush and I compared the comforts of several mattresses until I found the perfect one in my price range.
Easy paperwork, easy delivery, and I would recommend this specific Columbia store every time.

In response to Simone R… The fact that you would ever run a company like that is unfortunate but I am glad that you think you have solved the problem. However your 60 night comfort Guarantee isn’t worth much. My wife and I recently bought a Tempur Pedic mattress from Mattress Discounters and before we even purchased it we asked on numerous occasions if we could return it if we didn’t like it and we were told that we could and that we had a 60 night comfort guarantee. So we went ahead and bought the mattress. Well a few nights in we decided that it definitely wasn’t the mattress for us. I went to return it, like I was told I could, and I am now being told that I can only exchange it and that a complete refund is impossible. I find it interesting and less than honest that you portray the 60 night comfort guarantee the way that you do, the details of it can’t even be found on your website. I would also recommend a re-​training for your staff since what they’re initially telling the customers differs from what you’ll actually do. So maybe it’s time to think, have you really changed the way you run your company?

I do NOT recommend this Mattress Discounters. I’m not sure if this is the case at every one of these chains or not, but I did not like the way business was run here.
The sales woman made us spend lots of time laying on expensive $ 3,000 beds when these clearly were not in our price range! The worst part about the experience was that they would not let us leave. I mean, it was ridiculous. They kept asking why we were leaving and telling us that they have the lowest prices. The closer we got to the door, the lower the price got! We spent a half hour just trying to get out of there.
I’d recommend that if you do go, know exactly what you’re looking for and what price you want so they won’t jerk you around as much. We ended up going to a mattress outlet and getting last year’s model for half the price and we’re very happy.
