Plain and simple. If you like fresh oysters you’ll like this place. Not fancy. Just exactly what you would expect to find in Baton Rouge but it is right in the Vista. It’s located just off the main drag. Don’t get confused by the imitators near by. Stop here for the real deal.

Maybe if I lived in Columbia still I would think this place was awesome because there is really nothing to compare it too. Living in Atlanta, there are so many oyster options. I did not think that these were the freshest or tastiest of oysters. Matter of fact I felt a little nauseous afterwards. The staff was nice however. Also some kind of soup we got, can’t remember what it was but I wasn’t a fan. Maybe a gumbo?

Great service, a «joint» where you sit at a wooden bar and Oysters are shucked in front of you while the server is talking to you. Good WARM sauce, a little different and fun. Order extra horseradish.

I sat in this establishment for about 10min with no service. I finally went over to the bar and asked if I could have a server to tend to the table I was at, I was told that they would be there shortly. After another 5−10min of no service I and my guest decided to patronize«The Flying Saucer» next door where our server was attentive and the food was wonderful.

First and last visit. Gave this 3 stars for the Clam Chowder, it was delicious(ordered 2 cups after I tasted my husbands) and their seafood sauce is tasty. Otherwise, it only garnered a half star for me. My hubby loved the crab legs and butter, which looked like orange juice, but he’s a crab leg junkie and unless you overcook it, he’s good. I ordered the Growder first, which is a mixture of the clam chowder and grits topped with bacon and cheese… HATEDIT! I also ordered steamed shrimp with garlic pepper seasoning. The shrimp tasted like it had been soaked and steamed in dishwater. The garlic pepper was more pepper than garlic, not flavorful whatsoever, unless of course, you count the dishwater flavor, then it was FILLED with flavor. Another couple walked in with us who’d never been there before either, they didn’t stay long. The serving sizes are small, the prices aren’t, but it is seafood… which I guess is more costly than steak… My husband said the pricing wasn’t bad and was like Red Lobster. I reminded him that at RL You get more for your money and we normally take home enough for another meal. This place was just seafood, no veggies or any other filler foods and it was priced much too high for what you get…

The oyster bar is a great spot if you can find a seat. We came in for the $ 10/lb crab legs. TOTALLYWORTHIT! The atmosphere is a little loud, but casual and friendly. We ate at the bar where you can toss your shells over the edge into the trough behind the bar, this is not a bug, but a feature. The crab legs were juicy and well seasoned. The oyster shots were delicious and well priced. I wish we had a place like this near me. Come early so you can get a seat!

Very good! More of a laid back casual atmosphere, oysters were on point. Went with my husband as a date night totally over dressed lol lesson learned, but it was our first date since having our baby girl. We will definitely be going back here.

This was the first time I had oysters and after this experience, I want to come back. Our shucker at the bar was amazing and very helpful in helping me figure out what I wanted/needed and how it all worked. Had raw and steamed oysters, scallops and a shooter to top it off. The oysters served were ginormous and fresh. The scallops we had half garlic half Greek and they were also the largest I’d ever seen and were cooked perfectly. I highly recommend their house cocktail sauce. Served warm and full of fresh horseradish. Definitely a wonderful place and one I will come back to.

Our server was so nice and it was fun watching him shuck our oysters right in front of us. I tried several of the different oyster shooters, each was better than the last. The atmosphere was very chill and the people sitting at the bar where a lot of fun. A great place to start or end a night out.

We ordered raw oysters, steamed shrimp and scallops and grits. All were cooked perfectly and Jim expertly shucked our oysters with a smile and provided great customer service!

Omg! All I can say is I dream about this place. $ 15.00 for a ½ peck of oysters. The mother shuckers cocktail sauce was sooo delicious. We started the night with the most amazing oyster shooter I have ever had! I will be back!

One of my favorite places in Columbia! First time there, reservation was messed up, and the manager comped our drinks and appetizers even though we only had to wait about 3 extra minutes. I have never left disappointed. Tip… go during happy hour to get the oysters and drinks at a great deal.

Great place! They shuck the oysters per order right there. Can’t get any fresher than that! Oysters were sooo good! We also had the steamed scallops and they were fresh and yummy as well! Def a must go if in town! Also def have the jalepeno shooters! Has a nice kick to it! I think we had two or three bc they were that good! Thanks to the guy who waited on us who recommended them :)

I LOVETHISPLACE! Let me also say, I love steamed oysters and this place not only offers both steamed and raw but also shucks them in front of you. They oysters were very plump and juicy. I had them both Raw and steamed. The corn cobletts were sweet and the Capital City oysters were great as well! I’ll be visiting Columbia, SC just for this!

The best in Columbia. Had a dozen oysters on the half shell last night. They were large and had a great texture. Though shucked right in front of me i did not taste any brine in the juice. I also had steamed clams which were delicious. Great atmosphere and service. Good selection of beers. Will definitely return. Took home a bottle of mother shuckers seafood sauce.(Be sure NOT to park in the next door lot. They will tow quickly.)

Oh wow. I was super impressed by the Oyster Bar! A cool, casual spot off Gervais St. Super chill spot. I ordered a dozen raw oysters and a Ying Ling(amazing New England beer!). They shuck the oysters right in front of you, which is cool. Shuckers are helpful and friendly! The raw oysters were delicious, from the Galveston bay, mild and not too briny. Oysters were served with lemon, horseradish, warm butter, saltines, and cocktail sauce. The cocktail sauce, OMG. The best I’ve ever had, served warm, not too tangy, I wanted to drink it from the bowl! They even sell it by the bottle! Very reasonable prices. $ 13 for a dozen oysters, $ 3 for a beer. Next time I’m in Columbia, I’ll definitely be back!

Oysters are always five stars here and the staff are amazing but the clams were too small for me for 12.00 in some change.
