Bob Evans is okay on some items, but their food is cooked somewhere else, shipped in, and reheated and that’s what it tastes like. I ordered a Western omelet. What I got was a flattened fried egg wrapped around some warmed up chopped onions and peppers and diced ham, that all fell apart on the plate. None of it was cooked together. When I asked why it was cooked like that, the waitress said something like«we crack the eggs here» and they keep the food separate to avoid cross contamination??! When I checked out and the cashier asked if everything was good, I said«no» and told her about the strange egg meal. She reiterated that’s the way their omelets are cooked. I told her I would remember never to order an omelet there again. She said, «ba-bye. have a nice da-aaay.»

We love Bob Evans, we always have. While visiting family from out of town we stopped into the Riverside location this morning for breakfast at around 9am. One of the main reasons we like eating here for breakfast is the muffins. When our waitress delivered my food she told me that they ran out. I’m not sure how this can happen on a Sunday morning. To me, this is a little like Perkins running out of pancakes on a Sunday morning. The waitress and the manager were unapologetic. They need to do better than this.

Best food, best service, best manager service experience. Best location in Columbus! A+++ from seat to leave.

This Bob Evans on Riverside Drive across from the Scioto Country Club is my go-to Bob Evans. It’s a chain, so if you don’t like Bob Evans food in general, this one’s not going to be any different. But I happen to love their buttermilk pancakes so we eat breakfast here maybe once every 2 months or so. Compared to some of the other Bob Evans nearby(there’s one at Fifth & Olentangy River Rd and another one at Bethel & Olentangy River Rd), this one seems to be a newer, cleaner building with a more experienced & competent staff working it. I had a horrible experience with bad coffee at the Bob Evans in Pickerington once, but the coffee at this Bob Evans has been fine every time. They apparently have a kids eat free deal every Tuesday evening. I’ll definitely have to try that out too one of these days with my daughter.

Made the mistake of eating dinner here. Canned green beans, cold food, ignored the entire meal with no drink refills. Others may like this place for certain breakfast dishes, but after 10AM, head for a place that cares about its customers. No service skills from the server to the manager.

Bob Evans is a solid place to come for breakfast. I have family in Ohio and have been coming to Bob Evans my entire life but I have never been a fan of their lunch or dinner, strictly their breakfast. They always hook you up with mad amounts of food, they have really good home fries(which are fried potatoes, not french fries for those who don’t know) LOL. Just about every breakfast dish they serve is above average but the real reason I am writing this review and giving them 4 stars instead of 3 which is what most of their menu deserves, their biscuits and gravy are without a doubt the best I have ever had, ANYWHERE!!! I have lived in Southern California my entire life and there is not any place out here that has biscuits and gravy that good. The biscuits are soft, fluffy, buttery, slightly flaky and moist. Their gravy is thick but not too thick, loaded with sausage and has a taste like no other gravy in the world. I can eat a bowl of Bob Evans gravy by itself it is that good. If you only come here for their biscuits and gravy, that is okay but everyone must experience this gravy at least once in their life.

I actually really liked my turkey spinach egg white salad. Despite me trying to be healthy, they somehow made it not by making the scramble with what looked like 10 egg whites. If I ever decide I would like to put on 20 lbs, I’m definitely coming back.

On my last trip to Columbus I was craving a fatty breakfast from Bob Evans but I left disappointed :/ My blueberry pancake(extra blueberries please) was great but the sausage fell short, and the hash browns were an absolute disgrace. Some of the worst potatoes I have ever had. My hot chocolate was also super watered down — not the breakfast I was hoping for. I took my younger brother with me and he enjoyed his pancakes as well but didn’t think they were special. I took a sip of his orange juice and well, I’m spoiled by fresh California citrus. The service was great, especially considering we had a very active baby at the table, but next time I’m in Ohio I’m skipping Bob’s. peace, love, and good booze ~ chase

Love to come here for breakfast. It’s a Bob Evans so you know what to expect… mediocre food that’s overpriced. They do have good omelets though. Lunch/Dinner menu is alright. Food portions aren’t great if you order carryout so it’s better to dine-in. They’re food is not to shabby in terms of healthiness. Side items include broccoli, beans, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, etc… Service at the restaurant is decent, not too spectacular. They’ve got some good dessert though.

When I visit family in Columbus, this tends to be our default brunch choice, as it has something for everyone. It helps that it is very child friendly. Before I visited for the first time, I was a bit hesitant to visit. I didn’t think it would be my cup of tea. However, I can’t think of a better place to go for comfort food. People searching for vegetarian or super-healthy options may meet their match here, but the salads are surprisingly creative and good. The food is inexpensive, but it’s not cheap(in quality). Also, if you are in the mood for breakfast at dinner time or dinner at breakfast time, this is the place to go.

One of the few things I dislike about Columbus is that there are no IHops — but having Bob Evans *almost* makes up for it =) I’d gotten carry out a couple times, but this afternoon was my first time eating in. The only bad thing about my experience was that I had to wait quite a while to be seated. It’s possible it seemed longer to me than it was cuz I’d just come from a long run and really wanted to be off my feet… but a line had gathered behind me. And two employees passed us while we stood there and said they’d be right with us. Neither of them were. Someone at the counter eventually noticed us standing there and came over. It was after 1 pm and they really weren’t that busy it seemed. Anyway. After I did get seated my server was there promptly, and she was very friendly. It was obvious I’d just been running and we made small talk about that and how starving I was. After giving her my ridiculously large order, I started to say«Do you think you could…» and she finished my sentence«Bring you your biscuits now? Of course». Haha. She knew what was up. She brought them right away, and literally the second I put the last bite in my mouth she was back with the rest of my food! I was impressed. It was all delicious too. The biscuits, Farmers Omelet, and hot cakes are amazing, and the home fries were OK. They don’t joke around with their hot cakes either — they’re HUGE! Over all it was a good experience and the portions are huge and reasonably priced. On a normal day I definitely wouldn’t have been able to finish. She offered me a box, but I didn’t need it. Perhaps she’s never run 9 miles before =)

Yes it’s a chain — but I am certainly not the only one around here who reviews a chain restaurant. I personally don’t understand the Unilocal’s hate for Bob Evans. Number one — it’s an Ohio chain — humble roots growing out of a single restaurant in a river town and from a pig farm. Is everyone a sausage hater out there? And then people who think that TeeJaye’s is better than Bob’s — I don’t know when they lost their taste buds but c’mon — compare a cup of gravy at TeeJ’s to Bob’s — one fundamental difference — there’s meat in Bob’s — pure sausage. TeeJ’s reminds me of paste To me the only appropriate time for TeeJ’s or their gravy is at 2 to 3am after a night of bar hopping — and even then if I can get the car to agree, I’d rather go for a sack of White Castles. Another minus — TeeJ’s grits are instant from the microwave — who pays $ 2.00 for crap like that? not me… To me — Bob Evans offers the most variety of breakfast items of any family style restaurant, chain or no chain. I think their food is good quality, their salads are fresh, and they offer good things like real butter or real half-and-half for your coffee(just ask — they’ll oblige). Where else can you have polenta for breakfast?(Sure its called mush — but you call it polenta anywhere else…) I feel like pancakes and eggs — it’s on the menu. I want some banana bread and a fruit cup — its on the menu. I want some sourdough toast with my grits — it’s there. Along with cinnamon rolls, real oatmeal(not instant and microwaved) with dried cranberries or pecans if I want). And it’s also nice of them to allow me to substitute oatmeal and grits for my home fries. And don’t forget the fresh biscuits and the sausage gravy. It’s consistent — some locations are better than others — that happens with a chain, but I am always satisfied, and if I’m not, they’re very happy to make things right. This location is great — I sit at the counter and always have what I need from the friendly servers. The managers are always on the floor as well — passing refills or checking status. The Hilliard Rome, Hilliard Cemetary, and Tuttle Crossing locations are great as well! To me, Bob’s is tops.
