Not impressed, it had so much promise from the door but it went away quick. The menu would be so impressive if the grill monkey knew how to make it happen. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Philly and was looking forward to it but when the grill monkey asked«what else do you want on it?» I asked shouldnt it have cheese? The menu shows two cheeses. Well, I ran out he said so get it at the next station.. .. strike one. Then i asked shouldn’t it have BBQ?(being the BBQ Chx Philly and all) and he said,“Oh yeah, I’ll give you some in a cup”. Strike two, the Philly thing is supposed to be all melty and cheesy. What a let down. I think I will give the SG a little time to train the grill monkey or find some existing talent before i try again. Maybe the existing grill monkey would be better at mopping the dining room and would use some clean water, the dining room had been mopped with the kitchen mop water and spread grease over the entire floor to the point that it was very slippery through the whole place. Yuk!

The food truck concept seemed good, but unfortunately the food much much greasier than expected even for that type of food. The building smelled like burning oil and after several bites i felt sick because the food dropped like lead into my stomach. The sky sauce was good, but not worth everything else.

Feta fries are amazing. This is probably the best Philly steak in town, get it with the sky sauce. This place gets very busy at lunch and I can see why.

This place is pretty tasty. Like other Unilocalers explained, the sky sauce is delicious. I usually get the #1 with everything. I’m not a fan of potatoes ski have no idea how good the fries are. I would recommend getting your food to go since it does get a tad bit smokey inside. Overall, great place for lunch. It is usually pretty fast and the people are friendly!

If this place was any closer to me, it’d be dangerous. Sandwiches, brats, gyros, hot dogs, fries, and more, and they’re all fairly cheap. If this was close to High St, I’d be here on game days all the time! The guy behind the counter making sandwiches was very helpful and was helping us with suggestions based on his own favorites and exprimentation. They have set menu items, but after that you can really throw any number of toppings and sauces on your meal. I went with the Carolina Pulled Pork with both the Carolina and Sweet BBQ sauce, as well as onions and jalapenos. The home made sauce that came with it was nice and fresh and mixed well with the tanginess of the BBQ sauce. It comes with hefty serving of pork too. My girlfriend went with the gyro salad and really loved that too. Everything on the menu is something I would possibly order here, so I am a little disappointed it’s not on my side of town, but it seems like it would be a great concept to expand(wink wink). It’s kind of in an oddspot at Riverside and Trabue, but if it were between campus and the Short North, I’d imagine they’d make a killing. They actually have a surprising amount of space which seemed a little odd for a fast casual spot, but I’m assuming they can host some events there. The patio seating where we were was spacious as well. I expect now that the Quarry the 5th Avenue bridge is gone, and the residents of the Quarry have to head down Trabue, Skyward Grill may get some more traffic. I’ll definitely be back in the near future.

After several visits and different sandwiches… I’ve never had a bad lunch here. They’ve brought food truck food inside. And it tastes like food truck food should. They’ve got a great grill– and little grease and grilled onions do not hurt at all. The Skyburger is great. Staff is friendly. Everything is made fresh to order in front of you — lines can get backed up at peak times. Sweet potato fries are a unique find. Lots of flavor. ABC6/Fox 28’s Bill Kelly and Bob Kendrick just rated several places and their burgers… I don’t know how Skyward Grill didn’t get on the list for a visit… but they blow Johnny’s away… and there’s nothing wrong with Johnny’s burger.

Good food, simple fare. Quick in and out. Friendly folks working there. For the money, a great deal.

What’s great about Skyward Grill is pretty much the main thing they serve– Gyros and Phillies, food cart style, with friendly, happy, and engaging staff. It’s basically a food cart in a building. Just one large griddle-style grill, where they cook everyone’s orders together. A pile of peppers and onions is always waiting to one side of the grill, and they always put your pita or sub roll face down on the grill for a minute before putting it all together. A half dozen types of meats, and lots of other toppings at no charge. Absolute guilty pleasure food. And the helpings are heaping! I’m personally not a big fan of the fries. They’re very crispy and kind of orange-ish and hollow, if you know what I mean. Reminds me of Burger King fries. But they do give you a lot of them. They also have sweet potato fries, which are heavily seasoned(with cinnamon and sugar!) and quite sweet. The«Sky Sauce» is a white sauce that basically serves the purpose of mayonnaise. I don’t find it very similar to Tzatziki, but, it’s excellent on a pita. They offer it on fries too if that’s you’re thing. They also offer a variety of basic pick-me-up beverages and absolutely ridiculous desserts. One thing that’s not so great is the location– it is a bit awkward. You can’t get there coming from the west or south without having to do a U-turn. Skyward Grill participates in Spot-On mobile couponing.

You’ll not walk away hungry! one of my favorite things about Skyward Grill, is that the guy working the grill always asks me what I want on my order. Same with the person on veggies. Portions are a bit large. A regular fry could feed two. By the way, the fries are really good. The hot dog was very good, and you can pretty much put whatever fancies you on it. I wasn’t too thrilled about the Vanilla Iced Chai. It’s out of a machine and tasted watered down. But, it was on the house, thanks to my Spotify card and a coupon in my email!

Grill it up! After hearing very little about this place before going for lunch, I decided to give it a shot. Based on my experience, I’d have to give this place a solid 3-star rating. Here is a list of some pros and cons: Pros — Very easy to find — Good parking lot — Relatively quick, fast-casual service — Samples of sauces while ordering to make sure you’ll like it — A large variety of grilled sandwiches and fry options — Friendly employees Cons — SOOOOO many options/combinations, which could be a pro for some — Bread was somewhat dry even when grilled — Sweet potato fries were not the best, but you could add cinnamon sugar to them — Sauces, while having many kinds, were only decent Thus, this place has some good features, but could work on quality of their products. I felt overwhelmed with choices on a first visit. Maybe next time, I’ll have a better idea of what to order. There are lots of things to try so you may need a few visits before you find your favorite order.

This is an interesting place, albeit in [perhaps] uninteresting ways. There’s an extensively customizable menu. A good thing, right? There’s fresh ingredients grilled before your eyes to your satisfaction. Alright, definitely an asset. The staff is helpful and pleasant. That’s nice, of course. The space is neither cookie-cutter nor clutter-chiq. Certainly a plus for many. The food doesn’t try to be a thing or a few to many people; it can be as challenging as the challenged care to be. Admirable, given rampant homogenization and surface-variety. The music is tasteful and appropriately amplified for a very reverberant architecture. Something I can definitely live with. OK. Give me a second to review what I’ve written. Oh wow! Nothing about how I liked the food. Well, I really enjoyed what I had: the hot Polish sausage sub, with grilled onions/peppers/mushrooms and hot relish and provolone cheese. Nothing fancy or unique. But quite tasty and perfectly prepared. Like Legos, stack enough little good things up and, sometimes to your surprise, you have a multi-colored Eiffel Tower.

Not overly impressed with this place. We went at 7pm, which apparently is OMGDINNERRUSHTIME. Only 3 workers working, and only 1 was competent. As other reviews note, you repeat your order 3 times, for each worker. Very, very, very slow process as you slowly move down the line. I think we waited at least 20 minutes in line, if not more. Things were forgotten such as drinks, fries, etc. We had to wait longer for these things to be finally made. Meanwhile, the OMGDINNERRUSH started to line up all the way to the door. Those poor people. Turn around, its not worth it! Once I got to eat my food, I was not that impressed. I could have easily make it at home, and made it much healthier. It was buyer’s remorse the second I started eating it. I highly doubt I will visit here again.

Skyward was serving food at my work before they opened this location, so I was already psyched when I came here for the first time. The food is great and tastes much richer and better than similar places(i.e., Penn Station). I’m not much of a sauce person, but their sky sauce on fries is sinfully delicious and keeps me coming back. Friendly service in addition to the good food means this is one place that won’t disappoint you. My only small gripe is that the place is in a weird location and a little unkempt at times, but somehow even that adds a quirky charm.

I have only been here once, and it was just for a snack of sweet potato fries. The building is fun and inviting, sort of industrial and bigger than it looks. They have some Skyward Grill history on the walls which makes you realize how long they have been around. One of the workers here was very enthusiastic about his food and was engaging us, making sure we knew about the food and what we could expect. I appreciated this, although he was a tad bit overbearing. The sweet potato fries were, well, very sweet. I did not realize they were dusted with cinnamon and sugar so I ordered them with feta and skyward sauce. Not a bad combination as it turns out, but it was sort of strange. I prefer more savory fries, letting the natural sweet potato taste come through. The rest of the food on the grill looked very good and I plan to return here some day to try it.

«It’s okay.» This is what I keep hearing from everyone and yes, I concur. I drive by this place twice daily and witness the evolution, including the addition of a patio with umbrella tables and then the expanding into next door for additional seating, thus taking the entire dark grey, metal building for their own. My Gyro was okay-had better. Same with the Feta Fires-flavors were flat. I think the menu has too much on it, mostly under the Build-Your-Own section. Options are great but during my visit it slowed the assembly line down a lot. Also, depending on your order you’re asked a second time by the cook what you wanted. «Uh, you don’t know?» Then, when you get down to the toppings section a huge plexi slab hinders communication and you find yourself screaming varieties of condiments and veggies in what seems to be a life or death situation. «LETTUCE. LETTUCE. LEEETTUUUCE!!!» Parking’s a nightmare, more so the traffic flow. Getting in and out is a little hard. All the above helps you make up your mind about if you really want to tackle it all for what’s on the menu. For me, not again.

Modern atmosphere fresh food and great staff! My co workers and I all had something different and all 3 of us loved it! I had the Chicken aioli sandwich — added banana peppers, lettuce, tomato — HUGE — MESSY — and there wasn’t a bite left! :) I also got the skyway fries — id get them again! My coworkers loved what they got too. Def recommend!

Nice use of space, and once they install the lower glass partition at the grill and acoustic panels, it won’t be so loud in there. Food had nice flavor(BBQ Chicken Philly). Regular fries were great, and the cinnamon on the sweet potato fries was novel, but a little heavy handed, which made them quite sweet. Cafeteria style dining makes for a quick, interactive experience a la Subway. One suggestion: have people pay at the same register as where they order; it seems unnecessary to have one person at the beginning and another at the end of the line. Staff were upbeat and friendly. Outdoor seats are a nice touch, although the immediate view(stopped traffic at 33 and Trabue) is nothing to brag about. Very convenient spot in relation to my office; will definitely come back and maybe try one of the«build your own» style sandwiches. One point off for: not receiving cups for water until we asked for them; redundant order/payment process; two of the chicken philly sandwiches in our order were switched(one w/jalapeño, one without). This place is still very new, so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that these are still soft opening type glitches.

Nothing stood out Checked out Skyward Grill for lunch. I was impressed with how new and stylish it felt inside, and someone greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. The menu was plentiful but nothing stood out as something I just had to try so I went with the philly cheesesteak sandwich and«skye fries.» Once you order you have to stand there in front of the hot top as the cook asks you how you would like your sandwich. Next it slides down to the toppings area where again you are asked what you would like on your sandwich. Finally to the cash register. Okay so first thing, the«skye fries» is just their fries with some skye sauce on the side. I found this kind of lame since it is essentially a condiment add on, they do not do anything special with the fries at all. If I were to have said say«skye sauce on the side» with my sandwich what would have been the difference? Nevertheless the fries were tasty. I enjoyed them even though they were not piping hot like the sandwich. The philly cheesesteak was not bad, but it was nothing special. Pretty run-of-the-mill. If I ever venture back I will have to try something else

This review is for their cafeteria service. The prices are pretty reasonable but I wasn’t super impressed with quality. The grilled chicken gyro was tasty but the pitas are so small! They pack them full but obviously can’t make it too big. If the pitas had been bigger I think it would be a huge improvement.

This restaurant just opened today and just luck I caught them on their first day of business. But I gotta say that they were ready for me and the other hundreds of fans lined up outside the door. The cooks were working the grills like there was no tomorrow and the owner was handing out Rewards Cards. I had a look at the menu and chose a hot sausage sandwich on a Auddinos bun and hot mustard. The also had gyros, meatball sandwiches, as well as a variety of sides. And the were doing a landoffice business! The lady in charge is really nice so I hope it keeps up!
