I’ve had such a great experience with this location! I had two large catering orders for work and they came through both times. The food was delicious and we fed a lot of people for a very reasonable amount. The service was generally very good. It was a little difficult to order it as there seem to be a small number of people that can put the orders in, but they were great once we got that taken care of — they were very flexible with adjustments to the menu, timely, and very focused on customer service. I can’t comment on the in-restaurant experience but catering was great!

I’ve only ever gotten the brisket here, and it is consistently good. Unfortunately, not good enough to account for poor service. I usually call ahead to avoid the long wait, but lately they either don’t pick up the phone, or put me on hold and forget about me, so I go somewhere else. The most recent time I decided to go anyways. Employee gave lame excuse for forgetting about me on hold, even though there was no line. Saw an employee dig out her wedgie while wearing gloves and bringing food out to a customer. Won’t be back to this location. Brisket, chip selection, and cookies are the only reason it doesn’t get 1 star.

The food here is good. It is way better than a subway sandwich, but doesn’t necessarily top some of the local places. Service is prompt, dining area is clean. But what sets them apart is the corporate office gives back to the community. They allow local fire departments in their areas to apply for grants through them and they buy them equipment. Some departments locally have used the money to buy hose and another used the money to purchase a fire extinguisher trainer that they use in the local community as an outreach program for free. They truly do give back to the community. They also have pictures in the hallway of local fire depart equipment and firefighters.

Staff is always friendly, and my order is always prepared fast and perfect. This is my «go to» pace to eat when I’m out and on the go.

I thought this place was going to be just another Quizno’s and was expecting a below average sub. When I read the menu, only one sandwich really sounded good to me and watching the over staffed group of people make my sub, I wasn’t thinking I’d be very happy I chose Firehouse for my late dinner, but as I unwrapped the almost soggy sub i t was love at first bite. The sub was steamed, not soggy, the meat was quality, the sauce(honey mustard) was spot on and the size was great for the price(medium chicken bacon ranch(sub honey mustard) for $ 6.39. it was a really tasty sandwich for what it was and better than Subway and Quiznos. So, there you have it. Pretty good subs that are better than the rest of the competitors.

Thought this place would be better than subway. But no wrong again. I ordered a regular size sub hoping to get a good sandwhich. First I had to tell the cashier twice what a wanted which took over 10 mins for them to punch it in the register. Then when I got home I realized that they forgot the cheese on my sandwhich which was included. But the most disappointing was the lack of meat on it and how small it was. Afterwords I was still hungry! Even subway uses better quality meats and the extra toppings are free.

Great tasting subs and lots of fountain drinks to choose from. Nice atmosphere, clean store & friendly staff at this location. Great reduced calorie menu items!

I came here on a Saturday afternoon. The place was empty which I don’t mind. I think with reading the other reviews they have really tried to change from the customer service side. I was immediately greeted and introduced to the menu. This was my first time there so it felt a little rushed… I wanted to make sure of the ingredients as I don’t consume pork but the cashier guy was a little pushy. I settled on the steak and cheese sandwich. It was good. No real complaints but I still love WG Grinders more.

This place had lots of parking. There’s always a long wait time to get your sandwich because the staff spend more time messing around instead of working. The sandwiches are good but kind of small for the price.

The service is so unbelievably slow. I went at 5:30, there were 3 people in front of me and I waited 20 minutes for my 2 subs. So slow and definitely not worth the wait. They use canned mushrooms, not fresh ones and their bread gets grossly soggy from the steam of the hot sub. There is no toasted bread to give the sub sound crunch and texture. I will never choose to return for their subs.

My Italian sub wasn’t too bad but it didn’t hold a candle to Jersey Mike’s or Which’s. It’s in a largish building; much larger than it looks from the outside. The Coke machine didn’t impress me because I only drink water with meals.

I’ve had a lot of subs, heros, and hoagies in my day. And, while I’m definitely no expert and can’t eat them regularly anymore, sometimes a sub is all I crave. The other day when I got off of an early shift at work, I realized I hadn’t eaten breakfast or lunch yet and I was starving. Driving down 5th I spotted Firehouse like a weary sailor spots a lighthouse at sea. «Sub-ho!» I exclaimed to myself as I realized today was one of those days that this is what I was craving. I’d never been to Firehouse before but I hear them advertise ALLTHETIME. Walking in the door I was greeted by literally ever person who works there. Nice and creepy all at once. When I ordered, the guy at the register prompted me to help me order more smoothly and cracked a few jokes. I got the sweet and spicy meatball and it was prepared quickly and it was absolutely delicious. I’m not sure this is my favorite sub place, but I’ll definitely stop in to try it again.

A sub is a sub Nothing bad to say about firehouse subs. They make good tasty food. Yet their subs don’t stand out above the rest. I have been there a few times and each I enjoyed my sandwich. Did it wow me? No. If you want to try sub flavors subway doesn’t have give this spot a shot.

This is one sub shop that stays true to the«A-OK» Unilocal rating. There is nothing special about Firehouse, and the wait inside is enough to keep me from returning anytime soon. I’ve had the veggie, Italian and roast beef sub. All the subs tasted decent, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. Every time I have come here, there has been a long wait for my sub even though it’s not busy. I waited 20 minutes for a to-go sub the last time I visited. If you are really craving a sub, I feel like there are better options on 5th Ave and the surrounding area. If you do stop in, don’t expect an outstanding sub. It is pretty average.

The four stars are for the subs and the soda machine(which has tons of options – I usually roll with the cherry vanilla Diet Coke.) I don’t really care for the huge OSU painting on the wall or the whole firemen theme, but whatareyagonnado?! Don’t try their Hawaiian Pulled Pork special, it was disgusting.

This was my first visit to Firehouse Subs, and it was rather, well… subpar. I walked in to see that there was no line. While this was awesome, I was pretty confused on where the line started(the only prominent way-finding sign is the«pick up order here» sign). Also, your best bet is to pick up a menu at the counter, because the wall menu is nearly impossible to read. I ordered the chicken breast sub on wheat, which appeared to me as one of the more healthy options. It took a little over 5 minutes to make my sub, which was slightly annoying, but I was in no rush, so I can’t complain. The good: — The chicken breast seemed relatively fresh. The bad: — The bread was really soggy and did a poor job of holding the innards of the sub together. The ugly: — Wait… I paid $ 5.89 for this?! Basically, if you’re on 5th Avenue and want to get a sub sandwich, save yourself the disappointment and go to either Jimmy John’s or DiBella’s right down the road.

Woot woot. I’ve only been once, and they are definitely due for a second visit. I tried the sweet & spicy meatball sub, and found it to be exceptional. I will admit to being very critical of meatball subs, and believe that any sub shop worth it’s salt needs to crush it on meatball subs, and they did not disappoint. The flavors were jawesome, not QUITE as spicy as I’d like to a great blend with the sweet and the bite, good cheese as well. The service is great, to a point, though their seemed to be «too many cooks» as it were — LOADED with staff when I went, though it was shortly after Grand Opening, and I doubt they still have that going on. Now, by «to a point» — they seriously seem adept at screwing up orders. I’ve eaten there once, a pick up order, and got white bread instead of the wheat that I ordered. A fellow manager at my store has eaten there three times — and twice they’ve messed up her order. Ironically, it seems that when they mess up the order, it turns out better! Que seras. At the end of the day, I’d definitely recommend a swing here — solid subs to be had, good prices, lots of additional sauce options available as well, easy parking and quaint eating area.

Came here because it’s sort of a newcomer to the area(less than six months) and I was in search of a good sub option for lunch. Since this is their«specialty,» I was looking forward to trying them out. I checked on Unilocal to find their hours and also checked out their website to see that you can order ahead online if necessary. Can’t beat convenience. The service was prompt and helpful and the woman behind the counter made sure to ask me if it was my first time(as it was) and explain some of their most popular items as well as some of her favorites. Everything is made fresh for you while you’re there and like most places, you have a singular sub or combo option. I went for the club combo and the hook and ladder combo. Both were similar with turkey, ham/bacon, lettuce, tomato and some sort of sauce. The combos were over $ 8 each. I’m a bit of a sub whore and these were good, but pretty standard. Nothing set them apart from other subs I’ve had elsewhere(no exotic veggies, homemade, unique sauces, or extra flair.) Again, good, but not great. I can appreciate prompt service, easy ordering, a spotless dining room AND the coolest fountain drink machine(with over 120 pops!) I’ve ever seen, though. A quick, hearty lunch option for sure, but there wasn’t much that set it apart from nearby sub-speciality stores.

I came across Firehouse looking for somewhere to put air in my tire. I didn’t know anything about it other than it looked new and relatively uncrowded. Upon entrance I was assaulted by a unison cry of «Welcome to Firehouse!» Soon after, it became evident they do this whenever someone comes through the door. I walked up to peruse the menu. The subs looked really mouthwatering in the pictures, but they were all layered with tons of meat. Finally, I spotted a veggie and a tuna, the only two that fit my dietary restrictions. I must admit that the layout is somewhat poorly conceived, as you place your order to the far right, right next to the soda fountains, condiments, and trash bins. You would think this is where you would pick up your food so you didn’t have to walk clear across the place for your drink. Speaking of the soda fountain, it’s fancy. Like Amy notes, you can mix and match all the different flavors it features to make crazy soda monsters. It could use some instructions though, frankly. The screen doesn’t look like a touch screen, but apparently is, and after getting my drink, I’m unsure whether it might have already had a selection made previously or not. If not, that cherry lime-aid is pretty freaking strange. It tasted like flat soda syrup, which lead me to believe maybe someone had pushed a soda button prior to me going up to the machine. My main complaint is that the wait for my food was extremely long, like 5+ minutes long, with only 3 people ahead of me. Then they prepared it for dine-in when I needed it to go. No big deal. With all these annoyances/beefs, you might be wondering, «why the four stars?» Well, a few reasons. First and foremost, the sub was really delicious when it finally was ready. Since I got it to go, the bread was kind of soggy by the time I bit into it, but the vegetables were all grilled or sauteed into a warm, tasty mess with the provolone, and it had a really good flavor. I would definitely get it again. Secondly, the concept and some of the design elements are really nice. The shop was(supposedly) started by actual firemen, and you can donate to support firemen in three different ways(round up your order total, buy empty pickle buckets, or… um, straight donation? I don’t remember the third. Sorry), all of which are explained by the menu. There are some cool firemen related things hanging on the walls as well, but it’s the«support a good cause while you eat» theme that sells it to me.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Firehouse Subs, so when one opened down the street, I was excited to give it a try and see what all the buzz has been about. Everything sounded so good, but I decided to order the Firehouse«Hero» Sub and waited patiently while it was being made. During this time, I noticed the Coke machine they had… it was the same one I found in a casino out in Scottsdale, AZ that occupied my time while the rest of my family had fun gambling(it takes little to entertain me)! I was so excited to see this machine; it basically has every Coke product made with several different flavors that you can mix in, over 100 combinations in all. The possibilities are endless… orange Coke, peach Sprite, 8 flavors of Dasani?! You imagine it, you can make it! Okay, back to the subs… when my sub was ready, I took it and got in my car, excited to go home and try it. When I was nearly out of the parking lot, one of the employees came running out, as they realized my sub had been mixed up with the customer who ordered behind me. I was thankful they noticed this before I left and also for the employee that made the effort to rush out and switch subs so I could enjoy the one I ordered! After arriving back home, I bit into my sub and was instantly satisfied. The sub bread was fresh and had the perfect texture, nicely toasted on the outside but soft on inside. The sandwich contained a perfect combination of meat and veggies, enough to not feel like it was simply a «bread sandwich.» I will definitely be returning here when I’m the mood for a good sub. You can say goodbye to Subway and Quiz-nos– they have nothing on Firehouse Subs. The quality of the meat and bread is much higher, all the ingredients are extremely fresh, and the atmosphere is much more appealing to sit and enjoy a meal. No complaints here!
