Geno Elon opened this summer in the north end of the Short North next door to Bodega. It is a quaint store that features fashionable men’s and women’s shoes. The shoes are mostly leather. Ladies varieties are all heels, dress, and boots, men’s are dress shoes. There are many colors including traditional browns and blacks and notice-me reds. The quality seems good. The prices are affordable. Geno Elon also has a few options when it comes to accessories like socks, bags, and hats, but the selection here is a little sparse. Once you’re in, you can see that Geno Elon isn’t half bad. For being so small, it has a surprisingly large selection of shoes. And the styles aren’t bad either. The interior is clean and neat. The signature Short North wooden floors and white walls are comforting. But the exterior is missing pizzazz. Geno Elon needs something out front to catch people’s attention. I walked past is numerous times before actually stopping. I think some color in the large storefront windows would do wonders.
