I have been going to this establishment for the past 4 years. It is by far my favorite breakfast food of all time!!! It has gotten to the point where I can blindly point at any item on the menu, because I have tried them all and LOVED them all! The only downside is that they have shortened their hours from previously being open until 7:00 pm to now only 3:00 pm! I used to enjoy stopping in after class for some brews, but now it isn’t open late enough. Good Tips: Get there before 9:00 am and order an «angry egg»(includes two eggs, toast/biscuit/English muffin, and potatoes) for only $ 2.50!!! It is filling, cheap, and delicious! If you love the food as much as I know you will, you should ask for a «Frequent Hangover Card». After 12 meals you get the 13th for FREE! I have gone through at least 7 cards…

Nice place. Liked the décor. Packed when we went but seated quickly. Definite college feel packed with game-goers(went on a weekend). Staff was attentive and food came quickly. Great for that morning after fix and the coffee was on point. Pancakes were clutch.

Ordered food to go on a Thursday at lunch. I called them several times but each time the phone went to voicemail. I finally called and had someone answer the phone, they asked me to hold and put the phone down, i could hear the noisy restaurant in the background. I waited for 5 minutes and no one got back on their end of the phone. So I hung up and tried to call again but for the next 10 – 15 minutes the phone line was busy– I suppose someone just put the phone on the table and forgot it. I wasn’t far away so I walked over to order in person. When I got there I could see how it may have been busy when I called(lots of people almost done with their lunches), but it wasn’t really busy the minute I walked in. The hostess apologized for the phone but seemed really confused about it. Also– their online take out menu does not reflect what they actually have. For instance, they don’t have the chicken philly sandwich. So go off the menu’s posted on Unilocal,i think those were more accurate. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. It came promptly and they put plenty of ketchup and sauces in the bag. The chicken sandwich was huge, it was fantastically crispy. The same kind of crunchy coating as on their chicken and waffles. The buffalo sauce was not drippy, but the bottom bun and lettuce somehow became really wilted and damp within the 5 minute walk back from HOE. Either way– it was really good. This is my second review and it retains its 3 star rating as «A-OK»,

Best pancakes — they have a pancake of the month — icing optional. One time I had Funfetti. Great fruit dish. Low prices.

Ive heard mixed reviews about this place so i decided to try it out for myself. The menu is pretty cool I especially like how they call their home fries, HOEFRIES. People have told me they specialize in burgers so I will be returning to review the burgers. I ordered The Ramblin Man, which includes French toast, eggs, HOE Fries and regular toast(which i dont understand why a person would need toast and regular toast, but whatever). I had to add a side of bacon to complete my meal. French Toast 1−5=4. Hoe Fries 1−5=2. Eggs 1−5=2. Bacon 1−5=3. Toast 1−5=4.

I’m not really sure what the big deal is about. Hang Over Easy is definitely an affordably priced, university-centric greasy spoon. The food is decent, but not amazing. It’s defnitely not a place I would wait in line for. Granted i’ve only been here once, so my 3-star rating might be a little premature. But that was just based on the Chicken & Chorizo Skillet. It was just a-ok. They do have daily specials, which is nice. I think i’ll be back to try their lox sandwich.

Ohio State homecoming weekend. Arrived shortly after 8a. Then it filled quickly. Line by the time we left. Had pumpkin pancakes with glazed sour crème topping. Excellent. Wait staff attentive. Located on south campus. Nice atmosphere. College feel. Lots of students.

Ate at Hang Over Easy on a Sunday following the first football weekend at OSU, and needless to say, it was packed with many hungover-looking students/families. We were lucky enough to be seated quickly(I think most people waiting had groups larger than 4) at the bar, which was rather unfortunate. The bar area was filled with«random» items and no proper organization; stacks of money in the corner, keys, empty cups, trash, and an old fruit dish lurked less than a foot away from us and was the unsightly view for our meal. I only point this out because I have been to their location in Clifton(University of Cincinnati) multiple times, and the place is spotless(at least in the areas were the customers dine). For food, I ended up splitting the Sloppy Seconds(two eggs, toast, bacon/choice of meat, HOE fries) and the Struggling to Get Up(two pancakes) with my boyfriend. While at a good price point, the Sloppy Seconds looked rather underwhelming when compared to the pancakes. The portions were small, but also very lazily put together(half the food was stacked on top of each other, rather than neatly layered as we saw in another customer’s plate). It was also covered in grease/butter, which really took away from the taste of the food. All you really got was a grilled oil taste. The pancakes were good; however, they were very, very dense. I barely had more than three bites before declaring defeat. This should easily be labeled as an item that can be shared with 2 – 4 people. Finally, with older places near college campuses, they lack the size, staff, and means to adequately serve their customers. Servers were flailing around the room trying to take orders, serve food, handle any issues, and then turn the tables as fast as possible to get the next customers in. People were standing in the main dining room after the outside and indoor waiting areas were filled with people(practically hovering over tables), and the noise level was overwhelming. Overall, it just disrupts what should be an excellent dining experience.

A friend and I were looking for a place to eat lunch on Labor Day(I know… not the best planning on our part). After checking out a few places, all of which were closed, he suggested this location. We should have picked Hang Over Easy first! Our waitress was friendly as were all the employees we encountered. I would never have thought to order breakfast at this place, if I’m being 100%. It looked to me like a burgers and fries stop. However, my friend said they had great breakfast food, so I went off his recommendation. I ordered the chicken and waffles and holy smokes! Delicious! It was spicy, which was unexpected and amazing. It came with a house made maple syrup that looked orange and tasted like heaven. I might struggle the next time I return because I will want to try something new but also get the same thing again!

I’ve spent a lot of time in «middle o’ nowhere» towns in the past several years, so I’m really not that used to a whole ton of people everywhere anymore. We got here at 10:30 a.m.-ish and it was completely packed. My first impression of this place was that it was like a daytime bar, which is good if you’re into that.(Since there are so many people, it can be somewhat difficult to carry a conversation at a normal volume.) Since I don’t consume alcohol, it is quite unlikely that I will ever get a hangover. However, whether or not you have a hangover, everything on the menu looks awesome, and I don’t think you can go wrong with your choices. I couldn’t decide on just one thing. I ordered one of their seasonal pancakes(currently Apple Pie!) and their weekend special(Corned Beef Eggs Benedict). My friend got the weekend special, as well as a mimosa + coffee. The food here is amazinggggly delicious, and you get large portions for pretty darn affordable prices! Our server was quick, friendly and courteous! I thinkkk if you check in and tag them + use the #hoecbus and show it to your server, you can get 10% off your order. I was going to test this theory, but she came back with our check before I could, and I didn’t want to make her life more difficult, so I let it go. :O If you’re a fan of breakfast/brunch food, you should definitely come here and give any of the food here a try! *-*

I cannot recommend this place highly enough! Delicious, affordable, and the staff is super amazing. Our waitress was Niko, and she not only understood our hangover state but also recommended tater tots, which was a dream come true on our slightly nauseous stomaches. I had the cheeseburger and it was amazing, but the breakfast offerings here are top notch too. Get yourself there as quickly as possible this weekend and experience Columbus’ best hangover cure.

Greasy, tasty, and delicious. I’ve been here a couple times and haven’t been disappointed. The portions are large so come hungry, and there can be a wait during peak hours so be ready for that. I’ve had the burrito and the chorizo and eggs, which were both great. Get the biscuit as your side and you’re all set . Street parking here, but I’ve never had trouble finding a spot. Lastly, just wanna give a shout out to the servers here. Last time I was in, the ceiling started leaking on our table and the servers were so kind and helpful and offered to bring us new food. We declined cause we were full, but then they gave us a coupon for a free meal next time we were in. Now that’s some great service! If you’re in the area roll through!

Another perfect breakfast at Hangover Easy! My new fave is the Chicken & Chorizo skillet. I didn’t order it but my daughter did and let me try a bite. I will definitely be ordering that next time. Service is quick and friendly. They’re great at getting you in, fed, and out the door. Prices are insanely good… probably because it’s on OSU campus and caters to college students. But every time we’ve been here, there’s a good mix of students and old folks like us. :)

One of my favorite spots in Columbus for some early morning fare. I live a few blocks from Hang Over Easy, but I don’t frequent it all that much, since I’m not a huge breakfast person. However, if I’m in the mood, this is usually the first place I go to. Plus, they have a full bar, and who doesn’t like some Bloody Marys or Mimosas before heading over to tailgate an OSU game. My go to here has always been the Dirty Sanchez, which is essentially a giant breakfast burrito filled with goodness(eggs, potatoes, chorizo, etc.), and it’s a hell of a lot of food. If you manage to finish it, you’ll probably just go right back to bed. I’m also a big fan of the chicken and chorizo skillet. Their HOE fries are so good, and the chicken and chorizo are seasoned perfectly. I brought some friends here a couple of weeks ago looking for a hangover cure, and they absolutely loved everything they had. I’ve mostly eaten breakfast here, but the burgers are pretty good as well. I really want to try their chicken and waffles! The service is actually pretty good, and even after going here for a few years, it seems like it’s still the same girls working here. They’re all super nice and very helpful when going over the menu. If you decide to come here during the Fall on a Saturday, be prepared to wait, because this place is packed on game days. With a bar toward the front of the restaurant, there’s people spilling out onto the patio off Neil Avenue. If you have the time though, it’s worth the wait; not only for the food but the entire atmosphere in general is very welcoming. If you’re looking for some great comfort food for a fairly cheap price and a fun environment, then you should definitely head to campus to check this place out.

I have enjoyed going to lunch at Hang Over Easy for many years… this time I stepped outside of my «box» and went for the BBQ Chicken Salad. It was quite yummy. Most of the table ordered breakfast food and all of the plates were cleaned. The service was solid, the food was good, and we will continue to go back. If OSU is in session(Fall or Spring semesters), then it can get VERY busy here, but it’s still worthwhile. In addition, during the academic year, it can be challenging to find parking. In addition, when classes are in session, the staff will rarely seat you until your entire party is present. So, keep this in mind for your next visit to Hang Over Easy.

OMNOMNOM! Hang Over Easy is a great choice on the Ohio State campus for cheap and decent eats. The only major problem is that everyone else likes this place too! You may have a bit of a wait getting a table, but fear not — it is totally worth it. They serve breakfast food all day. Who doesn’t love breakfast? If breakfast isn’t your thing, they start serving lunch menu items at 10:30 a.m. They have a nice variety of beers, mimosas, and Bloody Marys — a little something to ease into your morning. Take a hair of the dog that bit you!

Rarely does a place’s name equate perfectly with its prime function like it does with Hang Over Easy, a diner just off Ohio State on Neil. With easy access from the dorms to the north and from the off campus pads to the south, it is in perfect position to pinch off a night of binging, bonging, and ballyhoo. I came here to have a late brunch before meeting friends elsewhere. I was expecting the usual diner trip. But right through the door I notice its local beer, craft draft choices. There was a small bar by the door with taps in shinny brass attracting attention. Many of the beers are local micros. I didn’t have any though, but it was a surprise. The space is very clean but yet true to itself in the old building. There is the long diner bar, the tables, and a second room with a lower ceiling that has some charm. The wall junk is the cliché 50s/60s Americana, the James Dean with the sultry underlook, the Monroe black and white, the Beatles Abby Road poster. Truth is I am getting tired of this décor as if diner didn’t exist in the 80s, 90s, the 2000s. But here it works. The music is likewise, the Motown slick, the greaser sounds. There was some Ohio State football swag. But smartly they didn’t go overboard with it as lesser places would. By doing so they hit the cultural mix of the university just right. Outsiders don’t often get it; football is only a part of the schools culture. There are also heavy counter-cultural threads to Ohio State, and to get it right sports must be weaves in with it. Hang Over Easy gets it nearly spot on.(You have to have went here to really understand that.) The comfort food I had here was more than expected. My western omelette featured ham that didn’t come out of a precut bag. Juicy and hot, the ham seemed to be cooked as full slice before being diced into pieces. The onions were fresh. A nice size, the omelette was satisfying. The sourdough toast was a nice side. I had coffee. I think the great coffee shop and roasters in town have spoiled me, so I am going to stop reviewing diner coffee. It was drinkable; that’s the best I can say. The service was fantastic. Friendly, starting conversation, and having good sense of humor, the waitresses and servers did an excellent job meeting my needs, even when they were scheduled to close in an hour. I came in when the university was on holiday vacation. So it was dead; I assume it is more busy when the undergrads return. I am making this one of my Sunday breakfast places. I judge it an improvement since by days on campus.

Hang Over Easy, I have an important question for you; what on earth happened yesterday?! We walk in around 1ish hoping for a nice brunch before they close at 3. First, the hostess was sitting on a barstool, talking to her friends. It felt like we were inconveniencing her by asking her to get us seated. Second, once we were at a table, there was trash everywhere. I noticed straw wrappers and assorted other garbage all over the floor. We knew what we wanted almost immediately, as we loved the Ultimate H.O.E. burger and the black and blue burger the other times we were here. The waitress came to take our drink order and we said«actually, we know what we want to order as well.» She said, «oh, you have to wait, I have to go put this table’s order in.» Okay? We would have seriously taken about a second to order and our order wasn’t complicated! When she finally came back and we could order, apparently it WAS too complicated. I ordered my burger medium and my boyfriend got his rare, and both of ours came back incorrect; mine was well done, and dry, and his was medium or medium well. I had to douse mine in ketchup to overcome the fact that it was extremely dry. The aioli, which is what I so loved about my other meals, was hard to taste. My boyfriend’s fries came out after all of the rest of the food, so he ended up not really eating them. Overall, a big disappointment! We’ve come to expect a lot from this establishment and I was really sad to see that the quality wasn’t what we were expecting. Every other time we’ve come on a morning, so maybe the afternoons are a miss? As my boyfriend said, «if the first time we’d gone here had been like this time, we wouldn’t have come back.» Let’s hope this was a fluke.
