I have a Nother restaurants before when they were all over Columbus. These guys make the best smoked buffalo wings I have ever tasted in my life. When I win the lottery I’m going to eat them every single day until I die.

Just stopped in here the other day, after a friend told me that Hoggy’s was in this location. Always liked the small place they had on 161. Now they share space with the sub shop Johnny B’s on Bethel Rd. Had the ‘Simple Pig’ sandwich, which was a big amount of pulled pork in a hoagie bun, with KC style sauce on the meat. Added a side, so coleslaw and the 3-bean side filled the table. No green beans like the old place? Shame shame, –1 star. Those were great. Anyway, it was quick, good and not too expensive. Might have to ask next time whether they have different sauces for the meat.

So happy to rediscover Hoggys. After they left. I never thought I’d ever eat there again, thankfully they are sharing space with Johnny Buccelis which is not a good eatery in my opinion. Hoggys was one of my favorite places when it was in Gahanna, the new location prepares the food just the way I remembered, ie fantastic. The brisket was tender and juicy, the chicken that my wife ordered was fantastic, I am really happy I rediscovered Hoggys.

This restaurant confused me coming in because there is Hoggy’s and Johnny Buccelli’s which is inside the same restaurant. My husband and I came in taking some time to look over both menu’s. I went with the Hoggy’s menu of the ½ BBQ Chicken, oh man was that a big ass chicken! I can only imagine how long it took to gain that much weight, it must have been on steroids! My god it was the biggest chicken I’ve ever experienced in my entire life! I couldn’t even finish the entire thing, my body could only digest the small drumstick part. Oh and if you guys haven’t already noticed when we came in the cashier seriously messed up my husband’s name. Check out the receipt it literally says, «Fly» instead of Vlad which is what he told her. He even spelled it out for her! My husband ordered the Philly cheese steak sub and it didn’t even come with peppers and onions. It came with onion rings inside the sub and bacon and some meat. No sub sauce or anything. My friends if you want a big ass chicken you’ve come to the right place known as «Hoggy’s» or you can look at the Johnny Buccelli’s menu for a sub or panini. Your choice ultimately.

I wasn’t really sure whether to put my review for Hoggy’s here or under the Johnny Buccelli’s page. Hoggy’s is inside the same restaurant, but I certainly didn’t order anything remotely close to Johnny Buccelli’s. They have two separate menus above the counter that you order from, depending on which restaurant you’re in the mood for. I don’t think I’ll ever be in the mood for JB’s after the last time I was there, but I hadn’t had Hoggy’s since they moved out of their 161/Linworth location. I grew up about 1 minute down the road from that location and have such fond memories of the food that I hoped I wouldn’t be disappointed. I went with the pulled pork sandwich and the wings with BBQ sauce. They still offer specials on certain days of the week like half off ribs and $.50 wing night. The food was out quick and was about how I remembered it. The pulled pork was just okay, but the wings were perfectly crispy and the meat was cooked exactly how it should be. I think if I were to go again, I’d stick with the wings, but I wouldn’t be opposed to the ribs as well. Hoggy’s offers mainly catering now, and the catering menu is MUCH larger than what you can actually get at the Bethel location, but I’m glad to see that there’s still a piece of Hoggy’s around the Columbus area. Next time you’re looking to throw a party and need some Columbus BBQ, or you’re just craving some BBQ, don’t forget that Hoggy’s is still around!
