I have been going here for months, and every time, I always ordered the chicken wing dinner, and it’s always excellent. The other day I decided to look at the rest of the menu, and ordered a «Big Ed» and fries. It’s a half pound burger, fully dressed, and fries for under $ 6. I had it three days in a row, need I say more???

I bookmarked this long ago but ignored it; middling reviews, out of my way, etc. But it has BBQ, so you know I had to go eventually. The other day I was nearby, so I swung by. Signs out front say«best ribs in town» and«best wings in town,» so I headed right on in. It’s in a crummy mall and Little Dragons is next door, so I almost passed it up once again, but hey, BBQ… It’s nothing fancy inside either, and I bet they mostly do carryout, but except for the loud TV it’s pleasant enough. Down to earth friendly service, low prices for what you get. What I got? Ribs, of course, in a combo with perch. I upgraded the sides to greens and cabbage. I was pretty hungry so I added what I thought was just a small wing order, 3 of them, but they were big and also came with fries and slaw. Essentially I got two full meals; I ate as much as I could, but definitely overdid it. The bill was still reasonable– lots of food at a low price. The ribs: meh. Meaty, but swimming in sauce, so not my style. A good representative of that style, though. Decent flavor in the meat, and tasty sauce. The wings were also, well, good not great. Big, crispy. The fish? It was outstanding. Moist inside, crispy outside, as good as any perch I’ve had fresh in Wisconsin. They have several kinds of fish, too, so I will be back to try the others. Plus after I ordered I noticed smothered pork chops on the menu, one of my favorites. As for the sides, the greens were good, not amazing. The cabbage was amazing– perfectly cooked and seasoned. The coleslaw was very good. The fries were pretty darn good– crispy, and lightly seasoned. So in sum, it’s not really a favorite BBQ place for me, but it is outstanding in other areas.

First time going last night the food wasn’t all that there mac and cheese had to much pepper and I had greens and they tasted spoiled so for them to stay open very late night that’s nasty

I use to frequent this Establishment when they 1st opened and was located on Livingston Ave and I really enjoyed the food however… I would usually have lunch there and sometimes in the afternoon until the evening staff became very rude so I stopped going there due to unprofessional rude service… However I have visited the Morse Rd location and service was better and chicken wings were good and seasoned I will return to try the Turkey Ribs if their still on the menu

I like the food. I come here ever so often. Normally I get the 3 wings 1 fillet of catfish for $ 5.95(great deal). Substitute the fries & coleslaw for Mac & cheese & cabbage. You get a lot of food for your money. Will say that the owner could hire people who actually show they want to be here though. They’re not terrible, but still, it’s a business and you have to have a certain level of gratitude.

For a first time experience, Lawshea’s was okay… not mind-blowing, but not terrible either. Maybe I’m spoiled(actually, I know I am), but when it comes to authentic soul food most restaurants will have a tough act to follow. In general, Southern cooking is as much a part of my upbringing as Sunday school and sweet tea. It becomes even more personal for me because I can get«slap your mama» good soul food from my husband, so it takes a lot for me to be wowed. With all that being said, the price was right for what I ordered — 3 wings, 2 ribs, fries & coleslaw @ $ 6.95. I substituted mac & cheese for the coleslaw at an additional $ 1, but it was still quite a bit of food for the money. The flavor was okay… I won’t frequent the spot often, but I am willing to give it another try.

I had heard about this place for awhile since moving here to Columbus. It’s hard for me to judge this place because what they serve is similar to some of the dishes that I prepare. I can say that the texture and the crunch on the fish and the chicken were excellent but unfortunately it wasn’t seasoned. I’m from The South(Louisiana) and back home, we season our food. If you have to add additional seasoning after it’s cooked then you didn’t do it right. So on a scale of 1 to 10 I’ll give it probably about a six or seven but unfortunately it looks better than it tastes.

Hit or miss. Coleslaw is served in the same container as hot fish. So your coleslaw is warm when you get it. That fish dont always look right. Staff has always been friendly to me though.

The food is okay. I eat it when money is low. The costumer service is horrible. The owner always hire girls who have really bad attitudes and no costumer service skills. I always order three wings with greens and mac and cheese, which totals to 4.95. One day I came Into this location and tried to use my card. The cashier said«you can’t use your card unless it equal to $ 5.00» I said okay just charge me the extra 5 cents like the other girls do and she respond«I’m not those other girls» with a rude tone…

Customer service was horrible. I place an order the day before Super Bowl for their Super Bowl wing special however since they did not have the price in there computer system they did not acknowledged the advertisement price and tried to charge me the full regular price plus some. When addressed the concern with the hostess she was not pleasant therefore I did not purchase the items and took my business elsewhere. Wing stop was much more pleasant.

Great fish. Reminds me of some of the places I used to go to in the ghetto when I lived in CA.

I’m in a mood to catch up on reviews of some of the places I have been in Columbus, and notice how appalling some of these reviews are. If I had read them first I tell you I would not have gone at all. Well with that in mind. I shall begin. I didn’t go here with a view to sit and eat. If I had thought to do that I’m sure I would have been let down. I didn’t think of this place as a sit down place but rather like a Harold’s Chicken Shack in Chicago or Churches Chicken in Columbus a place to pick it up and take it home. Therein I never saw the ketchup bottles and I’m glad I didn’t. I ordered fried shrimp and I was not disappointed. I remember it being juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Now that I have read the reviews on cleanliness and notice these issues; I’m not sure if I will go again.

It is cold outside. I just happened to be in Columbus. I searched for«Soul Food» and came up with Lasheaw’s. The young lady who waited on me was friendly. The menu was simple. The restaurant was simple, fairly clean and homely. I found a spot to eat. My table was dirty. Tops of condiments were in need of a wipe down. I ordered the catfish dinner, $ 8.95. The filets were huge. Fries were seasoned. Slaw was tasty. The cornbread was good too. Overall, a nice experience. I’ll be back!

I first found Lawsheas at their High Street location. I was thrilled to find this Morse Rd location, because I was not a fan of the one on High. The food is okay, it can at times even be good. The inconsistency is frustrating. I used to get the chicken wings and fried tilapia combo, and upgrade the sides from cole slaw and fries to mac & cheese, greens, sweet potatoes, or one of their other various sides. The standard way they fry their fish is not to my liking — the end product is a little too damp/soggy for me. So I ask them to fry it «hard», which sometimes solves that dilemma. The staff is friendly and fun(usually). They have a selection of homemade desserts and a wide variety of bottled soft drinks… Can you say CALYPSO! Lastly, this place is open way late so it’s great for late night hunger pangs!

I love this place. This traditional southern restaurant is true to its name. I have never had a better deep fried catfish dinner anywhere else to this day. Wonderful service and a vast menu, you’ll be coming back for more. For real is place be ah Slapp’N!

I originally discovered Lawsheas at their Livingston Avenue location. I was thrilled when they opened a restaurant on the north side of Columbus. When Lawsheas opened my family and I ate here on a regular basis, this was our go to place for soul food. The fried chicken and fish was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and fried. The side dishes were also good. After at least a year of being a regular, tthings started to change. There started being inconsistencies in the seasoning, flavor and portions. We stopped going for about a year. In the last couple of weeks I have been several times. I am not sure what has happened, a new cook or management, but the food is as good as it was when they first openend! I am so glad things are back to the way they used to be. Actually the fried chicken wings are better than I remember. The prices on their menu have slightly increased, but they are still reasonable. So thankful to have good soul food again! Also, they have great late night hours!

I go to this place about every other week with a few from my office. I work in the Polaris area and it is a short ride down 71 to get here. If lived closer I would go more often. I have zero complaints about this place. The one disappointment I had, and it is not their fault, is when I ordered what they considered a Polish Boy. If you are not from Cleveland, then you don’t know how to make a polish boy — leave it to us Clevelanders. Again — not their fault. Props for trying however. This place serves really good seafood and chicken. Everything is cooked to order so be prepared to wait a bit for the food. It is worth it. The best sides I had have been the greens and mac and cheese. Once the owner brought my table a plate of complimentary wings with sauce, as he recognized we come here pretty often. That was a nice touch. This is more a soul food place than what people consider to be BBQ by definition. If you know soul food and you are from the city, then you understand that is 100% correct to call this a BBQ joint because you know you can order sauce on everything you get. If you are coming her looking for that City BBQ or Hoggy’s type BBQ, then you’ll be disappointed. It is not that type of place. Consider the location and you’ll know what I mean. If you are looking to get your grub on with some good soul food, give them a try. You’ll be back. You may see me there enjoying that fish, shrimp and chicken combo with greens and mac and cheese on the side, with a red pop. …And if you don’t know what a red pop is, then you should probably not be eating here anyway. :o)

Believe it or not, this place has been open for two years and I just discovered it. It’s in the Patio Shops and is quite large, taking up two entire spaces. They’ve got a lot of tables, and they’re pretty nice, but all covered with tablecloths. The food is fish and ribs. They have a half-dozen types of fish. I had tilapia, fried, because that’s the way they serve it. LOL Actually I had a fish sandwich which came with fries. It had two large filets on it. I’m definitely going to come back for another one. I think I’ll skip the ribs because I’m pretty happy with City BBQ. The service was pretty good, EXCEPT that two of the kechup bottles looked like they have never been wiped. I pointed this out and the waitress/cashier removed them. I don’t think they had Heinz ketchup in them either.
