Koko is a great fast food option if you want something better than your typical burger place. It’s a bit hidden because it is in the basement of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. For those not familiar with the hospital, enter from the east-side(18th street), walk straight ahead and down the stairs to the food court. The«make your own meal» is their bread and butter, and you can make any combination you want. This can be overwhelming, so you can also choose from their 1 – 2 daily specials, which are pre-designed meals. Because there is so much variety, it’s unfortunately easy to get a meal that’s just OK. Particularly when it comes to the sauces, some are much better than the others. I’m a fan of the General Tso’s sauce with fried tofu. Some of the non-spicy options like the cashew sauce and orange sauce were bland to me. All of the meals come out hot and freshly made. I get the tofu and usually they open a package and fry it immediately for my meal. Because everything is made on the spot, I try to avoid the prime lunch time where you can wait for upwards of 10 minutes. Still, if you’re in the mood for Asian fast food, you will definitely be able to find something you like at Koko(although it may take a few tries).

Great place to eat in a hospital. I’m almost exclusively get the green curry because I know it’s good and because you can’t get it at most hospitals. It comes with rice and veggies and tastes fresh(although chicken often tastes dry) It’s reasonably priced compared to other options in the hospital. Pay attention at the counter though or someone will take your food.

Mark Pi’s Koko is a great alternate dining option at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. I’m a fan. It’s fast and fresh, and somehow healthy! It tastes great, and most meals are under $ 6. I usually get the crispy chicken(which is very lightly battered), and it comes with veggies, rice(white or brown) or noodles, and you pick your sauce. There are many sauces to choose from. The green curry was delicious, and I’ve also had the peanut sauce. You can make it a combo for around $ 2.50 extra(includes side and drink).
